Since our win at Bramall lane we have only won one game from the next thirteen (including F.A.Cup Game). In that time we have only scored eleven times with four of them in one game.

Many, including myself felt we had turned the corner with seven new signings and three good results against Blackburn, Blades and Watford. The next three results against Blackpool,Reading and Coventry have seen us slip back and anxiously looking over our shoulders again. So what has changed from the euphoria of the Blackburn result to what many are thinking now?

Perhaps we caught Blackburn on a bad day and we had all the luck that was going. I think a good start is essential for us and we scored in the first minute against Blackburn and that gave us confidence. Not many times have we come from a goal behind and won or even drawn. I also believe the loss of Barlaser will make it nearly impossible for us to stay up. in his time with us this season he had seven assists. Norton Cuffey who has also left was next joint on the list with two. Another potential playmaker is also unavailable in Ben wiles and i think the problem of creating anything in open play is clear for all to see. We have to try and stay in games as long as possible in the hope we can nick something (especially away). We still have winnable home games and we need to find somebody who can deliver something from set pieces which Barlaser was so good at. Q.P.R and cardiff come soon. Q.P.R have Dykes nearly ready to play which could see them picking up points again. Let us hope we have something to cheer about against The Black cats on Tuesday. I hope i am wrong but i fear we are heading for skid row.

As good as the transfer window was on paper i think a fair few got carried away and assumed we would march straight up the table.

I still think there is enough to stop up but everyone needs to be together, despite a solid start Saturday and a harshly disallowed goal the atmosphere was horrendous. I also sense a real undercurrent of wanting Taylor to fail from local media and those that claim to be close to club on social media. I never saw the depth of analysis to the previous manager that Taylor is getting.

And then they go and produce a display like that, giving the lie to the title of this thread...lol. It was always a rollercoaster following the Millers, could still go either way, but let's keep looking up. Hopefully Swansea are still shellshocked after last night's result and remain low in confidence. Hope Ainsworth takes a few weeks to get his feet under the table at QPR too.

You are certainly correct there Unifier. I didn't see that performance coming and would have happily taken a draw before the game started.

I thought our first half performance was up there with the best seen at NYS. High intensity, quick movement, creating chances and looking better than a high flying good team. The second half Sunderland produced much more but we had our moments and it wasn't just a backs to the walls effort.

I said in an earlier post that we had no creation and the loss of Barlaser and Wiles would be our downfall. Last night Fosu was given a central probing role and he was a constant threat going forward. There were also strong performances from Peltier (i earlier wanted him out!!), Humphreys, Viking, Rathbone and Coventry. All our players played with credit and Hjelde in the first half looked a class act. I thought he struggled a bit in the second half, but when Sunderland brought on the outstanding Roberts his night got a lot more difficult.

Last nights performance gave us a bit of hope after the downer on Saturday. More injuries which was the only downside will not help but if we can replicate the intensity of last night we have a chance. Put skid row away, at least for another week.Lol.

Well it seems to be a fantastic performance, as against Blackburn or Sunderland, or a poor performance as against Blackpool or Coventry. That is the beauty of football, so many variables go into each game that you can never be certain of the outcome. You can try and tip the odds in your favour with technically gifted players, tactics to negate the opponent's strengths, parking the bus, etc. But you can never guarantee a result. I am sure the players give their all, and would love to win every game, but sometimes they won't get to their usual performance levels, sometimes they will exceed them. The trick is to get it right on the night and for long enough to pick up the points. I've been around for far too long to want the manager sacked because we've had some poor results. In my opinion, they are all on a hiding to nothing in the modern game, where results have to be immediate. Better to consider things well after the game has ended, when emotions have settled.🤨😭😡😊

Thought that was a near on faultless performance considering our position. Some good neat football and battled and dug in when we needed to.

Key like always is backing it up in the next game which we tend to struggle with. Not just this season but in our previous attempts at this level.
