Don't know if any of you chaps have seen this or know much about this link. I just happened on this investigation into dirty money laundering through the buying and selling of British football clubs particularly in the Prem and Championship. Worth a watch and a reminder how lucky we are to have a chairman like Tony Stewart and also the sobering thought that clubs like ours will never be much more than what we are. Derby County and Hill City are two of the clubs mentioned.
Thanks for the link Calypso. Interesting viewing. There will be some beneficial owners who are well intentioned and I hope and believe we have one of them. I am not pointing fingers at any one club because the very nature of these things makes it difficult to pin detail down, but this investigation highlights how easy it is to skirt round such due diligence tests as exist and you have to wonder how many of the owners of the clubs in the top two divisions of English football are 'clean'. The game in general reeks to be honest but then in a sense football fans get what they deserve. Offer most fans huge investment and success on the field and they will happily overlook where the investment really came from. Unfortunately playing by the rules probably gives you an uphill struggle in the short term, but I've said it many times before - we should be careful what we wish for.
