Dare we dream that we can replicate the wonderful performance from Saturday? Preston have had a good start to the season - 2 draws and a win last Saturday against Luton with a stunning goal from Potts. They also progressed in the EFL cup with a 4-1 victory over Huddersfield.  So it won't be easy and they will definitely not be as slapdash as Reading.

Hopefully it will be a good game to watch and the lads can put in the effort to get a positive result.

Looking forward to this one - which is more than I can say for the majority of games last time we were in the Championship!

Onwards and upwards. UTM.

There does seem to be a fresh feel of guarded optimism right now, despite the fact we Millers are hardly known as glass half full supporters. We are if anything realists and know one swallow does not make a summer, but 4 points from two games is a return, which if to continue, would see Championship survival with ease. Our summer recruitment appears to be a success and pours cold water on the idea that losing two players who many thought we would miss, particularly Smudge, now looks as though it's a case of good riddance. Tonight's game will be a tough test and will give us a better idea of our status and I would be happy with a point but I expect our manager has other ideas.

A great point! Backs to the wall stuff at times, but the defence is awesome and Victor was imperious yet again. Wiles did well as Captain and, when given the chance, we played some good football through the middle. I like Bramhall - he's like lightening. Cheio had his worst game in a Rotherham shirt and Wes Harding needs to cut out the fancy footwork in dangerous areas. Apart from that, an exhausting watch but a brilliant point.

Onwards and upwards!!

Can't complain about our performance last night. Preston have a strong squad and have started well, and I note their manager suggested that last night was the best he has seen his team play which also emphasises how well we held them at bay. Their goalie made a couple of good saves from Washington, who Is making a nuisance and creating opportunities so it wasn't all one sided. Preston will give out a few pastings this season but our defence has been improved impressively with the Viking outstanding. A superb performance all round, can't ask for more than that.

We were clearly second best but we earned a point through hard work and good organisation. We also carried a threat of our own - it wasnt totally one sided. Wes lost the ball in our own third a couple of times trying to be a bit cute. I'm not sure if that is why he was taken off, but High filled in well there in the last twenty minutes or so. They were exploiting space well in the first half and Parrott was making clever runs. I think we made a conscious decision to defend a bit deeper second half and defend balls into the box from wide areas which worked. Ok we rode out luck a bit at times but they didnt make too many clear cut chances and when they got shots off Victor was up to the job. Cheo was maybe trying to do too much and he gave possession away a lot. Conversely I thought Kelly did a great job of getting hold of the ball when he came on - he has a decent first touch. All in all a great effort from the entire team and a valuable point. Another confidence builder - we can go away to good Championship sides and be competitive.

General observation . No player is ever going to perform at their peak in every game. What marks out a good pro is that on an off day they still work hard, do the basics right and contribute as much as they can. We might not have personnel who have the pace, skill and power of some of the top Championship sides. What we have got though is good leaders - on and off the pitch - who demand and get full commitment from everyone in the group. As a for example, Cheo and Ben Wiles didnt have (in my opinion) their best games last night but they never stopped running and working, we got 90 minutes out of both of them and they both played different roles than they would normally play. They never hid. That is the sort of thing that I hope will keep us up.

Good point, Preston will do fairly well especially at home. The back 3 and goalkeeper were excellent, early days but Humphreys will be a premier league player in a couple of years.

Didn’t really understand the Washington sub and it left us really short until Kelly came on.
