I'm not sure the club can take the blame for the Smith / Icky situation as i know a few will be thinking here we go again / typical millers. Maybe we should have given them a tighter deadline but it genuinely looks like we did all we can and we were played off against the owls from two players who i think PW would have expected much much better of.
Smith and Icky will not be given anywhere near the same amount of patience they were offered here.
And tbh, as i said on another post should a player who is 31 next year be subject of a "best deal in the clubs history" in Smiths case?
No re sale value and modest performances in the championship. I would like to think that the chunk of budget dedicated to these contracts will be used on lads 20-25 years old with potential and re sale potential.
I fully understand the reasons for both players making the move, but I do think the way it appears to have been done leaves a sour taste. In my view it was rather seedy and I should think rather humiliating for the club. I think most would realise that the club did all it could to retain their services, but there is a limit, everyone is expendable.
We have replacements fresh and eager so we move on, but it seems to me the club is too nice at times
