Sadlier gone

I see Sadlier has been sold to Bolton. Given that he’s not starting for us, this is a genius move to sell him to a team we already played twice so that he can potentially do damage to our rivals. Joking aside, i would have liked him to stay. He’s never going to be in our best 11 but offers something different and might have been a useful impact sub when we sometimes struggle to break down teams who park the bus. He’s been a bit unfortunate to get a long injury last season and then come back when we’d changed to wingbacks, so we never really saw the best of him. Think he’ll do ok at Bolton and will give the usual suspects another stick to beat Warney with. Sounds like we have signed Kelly. Dont know much about him but good that we have taken action and not just waiting to see what happens with Freddie.

I'm personally delighted to see him go, particularly if it has meant that we have the financials to bring in Kelly. The game on Tuesday personified Sadlier perfectly; tried lots of skilful tricks, some came off, some didn't. His short passing was woeful and when he lost the ball he left it to others to track back. To my mind, a luxury we couldn't afford and I have never been convinced that his heart was in it. Didn't fit the Warnie mould but might suit Bolton - the best side in the League!

I agree with much of that summary DKNY. For me (personal opinion) he lacks pace and defensively he is a liability. It is scary at times to see how easily players run off him. I do recognise though that given time and space he has some quality - there is no doubt about it - but he isnt a good fit in the system we use. Frankly in my opinion we have got better players in every position so he just isnt likely to play much for us. Rather than him be unhappy and leave in the summer for nothing it is best all round that he leaves now. It was fairly apparent on Tuesday that he was on his way. Good luck to him. According to Boltons manager they are the best team in the league so that is good, and hopefully he will get game time and help them stay up! Seriously, in the right team where they will play him where he wants to play and not ask him to worry too much about defending he should do well. He is a talented footballer and it would be a shame if he didnt make the most of it.
