Cant knock his optimism or he has a good agent or both. On the back of his goal against Palace development squad Hirst says he is going to kick on now and make it so that the Cowleys will have no choice but to keep him beyond January. Good luck with that. I hope for his sake he makes it. In all seriousness he is big enough, fairly quick and has scored goals at age group but if that doesnt translate to goals in misters football soon he risks becoming another highly rated young player who didnt fulfil it. He reminds me of Jordan Bowery. He looked like he had all the attributes needed but never quite delivered above league two.

To be fair to Jordan Bowery at least he’s still around 400 appearances and counting knocked a few goals in Hirsts got a mountain to climb but I know where you’re coming from Smiler with the comparison
Bowery was an immense frustration to me Uttis. Big, quick, good touch - the lot. You could see why Villa had taken a punt on him. To be fair as you say he is 30 now and still going as a pro footballer but looking at the potential he had I would say that 50 or 60 goals in about 400 games (rough and ready) mostly in leagues one and two is something less than he was capable of. Maybe I'm being unkind. I dont really know him or his back story and he has played 400 odd pro games more than I ever did. I just thought he had the raw ability and attributes to do big things.
Ps I dont really see quite the same potential in Hirst despite the comparison so he will probably go on to play for England. Sometimes it boils down to attributes like attitude and work ethic, and the odd slice of luck here and there.
