Brentford were stumbling into the play offs until a great win against Bournemouth showed how good they can be. In their previous five games they had drawn four and won 5-0 at Preston. The four draws were against Huddersfield, Milwall,Cardiff and Birmingham, scoring just twice in those four draws.

Although i have seen very little of Brentford they appear to be a side who can break quick and get shots away. Against Bournemouth they only had 41% possession but had 18 shots at goal. At Huddersfield they had 15 shots and the same amount against cardiff, yet only scored one in each game. Pace worries me against us and with that in mind i would be tempted to bring back Olosunde in a wide position and possibly Harding as the other wide player. I do think that if we go there and sit back we could be in for a beating. However, if we press high and get them on the back foot they might just have other games on their mind. A fascinating game with surely a change of luck coming our way.

I almost daren't watch. I fear the inevitable dodgy penalty, won and stroked home by Ivan Toney.

If we play like we did at Barnsley and if Brentford take their eye off the ball a bit, we have a chance of getting something.

If I was Warney - and I'm not - I would treat tonight's game as a shot to nothing. Tell the players to go out there and give it a go - try and get on the front foot, don't sit back, shoot on sight, get the ball in their box, cut down the silly fouls, no bookings or red cards, lose your inhibitions and just try to enjoy it.

We need four points to catch Derby - quite possibly they won't get another point in their remaining two games. We also have a 6 goal-difference advantage, so sparing disaster, that should remain positive. We should be capable of getting 4 points in the last three games so anything gained tonight will be a bonus. If we try, and fail, so be it.

The key thing is to play for a win - not try and defend a 0-0 point - that would only end in tears.

Now, where's Warney's number?!

Can we score?

Can we keep s clean sheet?

I think the answer is yes to the first, but no to the second...on averages.

Against a side like Brentford, we certainly can't sit back, nor can we play in the middle of the park.

I agree with Glen , we need to lump everything up , get players in the box and for God's sake shoot! Shoot before it bounces! Shoot from distance ! Bloody Shoot and follow in.

Then we need to make sure we defend a break by hoofing the ball high and wide .

Then we need some luck.

Then we need some magic.

Then we should be OK.

And this is actually A MUST WIN GAME.

Other than that it should be a pleasant night with a warm front following in from this ridge of high pressure over the azores. One way or another get yer bathing gear ready.

Here's hoping Brentford rest some of their keys players tonight in readiness for the play offs. Then again will they be hell bent on beating us unmercifully?

Millers to steal the show 2-1?

Come On You Reds!!!!!

It isnt inconceivable that we will win on Saturday and that Derby might lose at Swansea. A point tonight and those results at the weekend, and we would be above Derby with a game in hand. I agree though with the notion that we should set out tonight to get on the front foot and be positive.

Brentford score from their second touch in our penalty area - that's the difference. We have had 3/4 decent chances but get nowhere near. Can't knock the effort but I'm afraid quality counts. Not lost yet though. Get Freddie on straight away and take Wiles off who looks ineffective. Lindsey also needs to up his game. Come on Rotherham!!

We have done alright without really ever looking like scoring. They get a free header and it's in. We get a free header a minute later and it isnt in. Again, we cant be faulted for organisation, tactics, effort etc but our players collectively arent as good as theirs. That's the basic problem. I'm not sure there is much that we can do about it apart from keep working hard, try and stay in the game and hope for a break at some point.

started ok, poor goal to concede Harding is not playing well he shouldnt have let the winger skip inside and both wood and angus should have headed that out, we had luck with Tony hitting the post, ref not helping but he is ok overall. Ogbene disappeared the last 15 mins and has failed to track back a few times. I assume Barlasar is injured because we are crying out for him in midfield as wiles hasn't been playing well for a few weeks now. We have to get a point tonight to put the pressure on Derby. We are not that bad a team but we are just short of having enough to stay up

Can't fault the effort - again

No luck at all - again

Not quite good enough - again

Don't know about you lot but I feel like I've run ten miles... draining...

Yet another defeat by the odd goal. We set up well and it was a great effort against very good side. We stayed in the game and got into lots of good situations but we didnt have that bit of quality in the final third. I am frustrated but I can't feel annoyed about it because I dont think we can do much more than that. In fact I feel a sense of pride. It isnt like we are surrendering. We are keeping going and giving it all we have, but unfortunately all we have is probably not going to be enough.

Positives is we kept the 3rd place team to 1 goal, we gave everything again

Negatives, 5 defeats on the trot and 1 goal in those 5 games, 16 games behind at HT and 16 games we have lost. Best chance in the last minute came from a Barlaser cross, I just don't understand why he is getting more time on the pitch. Wiles should have gone off when Lindsay went off with Barlaser coming on and Hirst is a waste of a sub should have been Sadlier for Ogbene who should have gone earlier he was shattered. Why take short throw-ins and corners in the last 10 mins when you are desperate for a goal.
We are just not good enough we don't have a natural goal scorer, if we recruit in the summer we need a natural finisher not just a big grafter, we don't score enough goals, the stats say so 4 goals from 106 shots is what sky said, that is shocking if true which seems a very extreme statistic. 19 games lost by 1 goal we are close but not close enough. We also cannot have a home record like we have had the last two seasons it is not good enough, so a lot of work to do.

We obviously need 7 points from the last 3 games to stand a chance and that assumes Derby lose 1 game, I can see them grabbing a point at Swansea with nothing to play for.
