Sad but it's over, they don't want us in the division but in truth we're not even a top end L1 side.
Yes it could have been different if we had eleven men but you can see by our general level of play, our conceding of set plays, the fact that we can't string two passes together, the fear in the players faces that we're down, not even the happiest of happy clappers can fail to realise this now.
I'm aware that I've been saying this for ages now but our 2nd tier demise gives me no pleasure whatsoever, finances dictate absolutely everything I'm afraid but we will never be anything other than what we are which n itself is no bad thing but we can't keep excusing every mistake the managerial team make in tactics, team selection & more crucially recruitment forever or can we?
he has started one game all season and had 7 games all season, come on give the lad a chance. This ref is a cheat, if I was TS I would have a private investigator look into the guy, we know that football officials have been caught taking brown envelopes and for me something stinks with the appointment of this ref and his performance so far. How can football be fair if the red card gets rescinded surely games have to be replayed where it has clearly impacted the result. I really dislike the corruption in sport
Looking forward to hearing the post match interviews with Warne and Warnock - both should be very critical of that sending off - I'd be surprised if they aren't!

We will never know what woudl have happened, but that Ref has potentially lost us 6 points.. today and Smith sending off.
We were on top, playing well... Hard to take, so hard to take...
That is hard to take. I really do think with eleven v eleven we would have taken something from that game. Even with ten they couldnt cope with balls into their box. We had more goals in us. We battled away and nearly nicked something but we just arent good enough to hold at bay a quality side with the likes of Bolassie and Kebano in it for 70 minutes with ten men. I cant criticise the management or any of our players after that. I just cant help feeling that in the end we have been done by an appalling bit of refereeing. Really scandalously bad. As he did at Hillsborough, he seemed to make snap decisions and think about them afterwards. Awful. I applaud us for keeping our discipline. I'm not sure I would have managed it.
well that is all over now, 3 defeats at home on the trot and the worst home record in the league, as John Breckin said the other week you get relegated at home and promoted away.
As for the Sadlier debate, he started 1 game all season and 7 in total, Hirst has had involvement in 25 games but has never scored a league goal. When Sadlier starts 6 games in a row and doesnt play well in any of them, come and have a go at him then.
Wednesday on the same points as us, so that actually means on points gained we are 2nd to the bottom and currently on track for lower points than last time, it is difficult to build a case for Warne staying to be honest. However it is clear the sending off made a huge difference tonight, I hope Warne comes out and is angry and speaks his mind, we don't want to hear nicey nicey
This might be my frustration coming out. I dont mind being in League One. I hate the Championship. It is the least fair division in football. There is just a sense of bitterness that we are having an honest go at staying up in a division where honesty and equity are at a premium, and we havent been able to get a break at any point. Late deflected goals, poor decisions and plain bad luck have hurt us several times. The covid outbreak and fixture pileup have hurt us badly at a crucial point in the season. Tonight Mr Darren Bond - having narrowly failed to scupper us at Hillsborough with one shocking decision - stuck the boot in with another at a vital moment. Yes , we have made our own mistakes along the way and I do get that, but I honestly think that we have done lots of things right and that all involved at the club could be forgiven for thinking that a number of things beyond our control have conspired against us. It is incredibly frustrating. Whoever the manager is next season, if we were to find ourselves in the league one playoffs again I genuinely might want us to lose at Wembley for a change. These Championship flirtations are not good for the soul.
Tonight was another game , badly refereed , and it simply is not good enough. You just cannot be that glaringly bad, but, I'm sorry to say that one can be. Even the apparent top ref's are shocking at times.
However, I've never seen a teams season, including ours been decided by a bad decision. It seems to me that if we were good enough then 2 things tend to happen : 1. We don't put pressure on ourselves. 2. Those odd points lost here and there (by the rub of the green ) don't hurt you (and they happen often to all clubs ). Surely, anyone that's played a sport competitively knows just how near, but how far the gap is between winning and losing.
So, back to the thorny issue of our management team...Well, likewise, we have to conclude that they haven't been good enough ...so near, but so far away from the required level of management.
TS, pays a fortune, but its not enough for this level. It can't ever have been true (as he has stated many times )that our budget is good enough to compete. If he still believes that then he will sack PW and staff. If he believes or acknowledges he has handed PW the smallest budget next to Wycombe then he has to stay.
Good points Ian. Do you not think Tony Stewart went into this seeing it as a business opportunity ? Maybe he is now succeeding ,maybe not..Would Warne have done better with more money to spend i don't know. Probably not if he continued to rely on his mates,Barker for coaching and Scott for recruitment. I like Warne and with better assistance he could have been ok but it is now possible he will have manager of the bottom club in the Championship on his cv .His pride won't like it and he is probably not far off walking away. Worrying because who have we capable at director level of finding a better recruit ? Beginning to think Wiles has a degree of skill but not much football intelligence. Back to the match i don't want Sadlier and Hirst anywhere near the first team.It is a failure at both administrative and coaching level that the appointment of this ref for any Rotherham match was not contested. The goalkeeper is not the long term solution. Unfortunately we simply do not have enough quality for this level.
Splinter that comment about sadlier is plain stupid, you do not judge a player on one game he has started one game for god sake, as for the keeper he has kept us in game after game this season. Both their goals were caused by defenders not playing the second phase of a set piece correctly, yes the keeper flapped at the cross but there were 3 players not in the right place not attacking the ball. All the winning goals in the last three games were central defenders faults, two by not getting to simple headers, our in ability to deal with set pieces is a major factor on us losing games, that is a coaching and training issue. Now warne mentioned two injuries tonight one has to be barlasar because if he took him off after 45 mins but left wiles on who had another poor game for any other reason then there is no hope. I agree about the money but a better manager would have kept this team up in my opinion, this squad is not that bad. As for warne not playing his mates, he doesn't help himself by bringing an unfit mattock straight back, where was Robertson our best left sided defender?. The facts don't lie, worst home record in the league, 10 cup finals and only 3 points from 5 home games, set pieces are key yet we have the joint worst defensive record from set pieces, they are the cause of our impending doom and the manager is accountable for that. Lets hope we stay above wednesday and at least make a fight of it in the last 5 games

I agree with derby, and i rest my case on warne picking his favs, mattock straight into team, why should clarke bother. Or other players on fringes when they see it time and time again.
Vassell was another example ' he is really good in training ' quote made me think wtf
Our budget hasnt helped but warne has made too many tactical mistakes. And it cost us. Yes he made some good ones but our home.record has been pathetic.
We have been crying out for a defence coach.
Our set.pieces have been pathetic lately
And how can others slate sadlier hirst josefoon have they been given a run of games to show themselves no.
If he leaves then gokd.luck.
But we will be in same situation next season warne has tun out.ouf ideas
Thats my opinion
But it does nothing to add to our points tally - I'm still as angry and gutted this moring as I was last night.
I get the 'over a season it evens out' but I've been a Millers fan for decades and this season for me, we have been on the wrong end of many more than have gone in our favour, and at least some of those have cost us precious points.
and as for that Ref! In any other part of life he would be under a warning pending a dismissal if things don't improve - but zilch will be done about it.
You could tell by how he behaved in the moment and from his gestures that the ref thought Crooks elbowed their lad. To be fair, from the angle he had you can see why he might have thought that. But he was wrong. He has then come up with the statement to Sky (maybe after seeing it back at half time) that Crooks endangered an opponent (whatever that means) - by honestly jumping to compete for a header with eyes never taken off the ball. It's a shocking decision but this time because of how the ref has dressed it up, it wont be overturned. He has covered himself. My biggest criticism is the speed at which he made the decision. It's a massive decision with massive consequences early in the game. It was obvious their player needed treatment. The ref didnt have to rush. Why didnt he take his time, speak to his fellow officials to get their take on it and make sure he got it right? I'm guessing the fourth official had a very good view of it. But no, as at Hillsborough he could not wait to get the red out and once that is issued, the job is done. If that is a red, players should be told not to compete for headers because apparently accidental clashing of heads equals recklessness. Awful.
