It's easy afterwards, but I agree about Sadlier, he must be wondering why he came here... and Freddy would have been in my starting team as a striker in scoring form is what you need, he is the one player in our team that gets in scoring positions on a regular basis . I also thing Barlaser might have changed the game at some point, and why are we not using Ogbene in games like that where we need to change the way the game was going.
Great when the set-up is going well (like QPR) - but changing formation and players when it's not is not evident.
I would have changed it at half time as nothing we did was right in the 1st – also Olosunde struggled and should have come off.
In Warney's after match report he said at half time they 'asked the players what they thought'... I think it needed a bit more a rocket than that! I would have sat Victor down and made all the other players stand up and say - 1st of all a round of applause for Victor for keeping us in the game - now are we going to let him down by playing that bad in the second half ?.. etc.." or words to that effect...
There are times in management for cuddles and encouragement, and there are times for throwing hairdryers....
Sunday decides our chances for me... no win and L1 here we come...
A bad result and a poor performance. No doubting that. Coventry didn't come to nick the game as i expected, they came and pressed high, used the long ball well in attack and to relieve pressure and had a lot more creativity than we had. They looked good at set pieces and had a weapon in the long throw. Our first half performance was up there with the worst this season. The 'Viking' kept us in the game with a couple of good saves.
The second half was a bit tighter with little coming from either side. I thought and possibly hoped it was heading for a 0-0. They got the goal there first half performance deserved and we can have no complaints about the result. There seems to be a bit of a pattern with us. When sides come and press high and have a bit of a physical nature about them we appear to struggle. I think it is because we don't have that close control and that word again quality to find space and time. It results in poor passing and very little created. There goalkeeper last night had next to nothing to do. Expect more of the same Sunday because the odious Bowyer will have them set up to battle.
It looks like Robertson couldn't make two games in three days and only came on for the last fifteen minutes. Ogbene is probably short of match fitness and sharpness and he only had a limited amount of time to make any impact. What is wrong with Sadlier? Nothing i hope. This is his first season of championship football and has only featured 12 times for us in the league. He has had his injury problems and imo didn't take his chance in those limited times he has featured. Warne trusts Wiles ,Giles and Harding more than him in a wide left position at the moment. I agree with some on here that Crooks has looked a bit jaded in a couple of the last few games. He is a big player for us and i think Sadlier will get a chance to play in the role behind the lone striker. He needs to be given a chance, but he also needs to show more than he has done. Clarke, imo is a long way short of championship standard. He might come on at the end of a game to give better players a break. However, as for starting him, i just don't think that should or will happen. We still have a chance of survival but as i have said many times. I think we will fall short i'm afraid.
Davdedin makes a good.point and this is my issue with warne management style.
There is too much consanguinity and chumocracy in our management team. And needs new ideas
