Interesting changes, lets hope it works, I think it is important to win for the psychological reasons so not sure weakening the team was a good idea, however he has stuck to the formation that makes sense because the players know that now, I hope it works we need a positive result.
It's a brave choice. If we dont get a result there will be people slamming him for not starting with Smith and Wing in particular. Lindsay has been out for a while so that must be less controversial. I'm thinking they reckon they will get a game and a half out of Smith combined today and Thursday, and does having a fresh Ladapo in really weaken us? I'm not sure it does. It's a strong looking side and we still have those players to come on if needs be. They have made changes too - no Willock or Chair in their starting side. That's a bit of a bonus.
Not a bad half we started slowly but improved, 2 bookings is not good and how their player didnt get booked for the late tackle on Robertson is beyond me, not that keen on the Ref he seems very quick to give fouls against us but has allowed 4 clear bodychecks the one where he elbows Olesunde in the stomach was terrible. With the Owls being two down at home and Huddersfield losing a win would make a huge difference
Freddies fault pulled from the challenge and didnt chase his player back, that is what Smith does well, have to get something from the game, lovely finish though
well that was a brilliant come back, Freddie made up with two lovely goals, shows he isnt a loan striker he plays much better with someone alongside him. The subs were done at a crucial time, well done to Warne for that, the players look up for the fight, mentally that will make an enormous difference to the players and to the other teams, a win on Thursday and we are out of the bottom three what an incentive. A few comments on a few players. Wood is a real captain, the whole team look to him when he is on the pitch. Wing was amazing when he came on so calm and what a ball for that first goal. Giles looked more confident on the ball and did better defensively. A great result a long way to go but we do have a chance.
Well that was simply magnificent. I wanted Freddie transfer-listed after he gave the ball away and failed to chase back for their first; but boy did he make up for it. It will probably go unnoticed because of the great goals tonight, but Victor was superb tonight. I love his enthusiasm, his confidence and this communication - he's going to be a class act. Congrats to Warney for managing this week superbly so far - Thursday's going to be a real test but Coventry will not be looking forward to coming to the NYS after seeing tonight's performance!
Wing has to be the best midfielder we have had for some time - strong but with a great touch, love watching the kid play. Last night will hopefully give us the self belief to claw our way out of this - Coventry and Birmingham are both winnable games so it definitely not over yet. UTM.
No doubting that was a good win at a time that will give us confidence going forward. I have said, as others have, that there is quality in this division that is the difference between the top fifteen clubs and those below that. Last night Q.P.R were without Austin for the whole game and only introduced Willock and Chair on 80 minutes when they were behind. Imo that helped us, but when we went behind we were able to add that bit extra into our midfield in Lindsay and Wing and up front we added Smith. Our players don't have the flair of a Chair or Willock but they did improve us no end last night. Warne has to shuffle the pack of around 16 who make us competitive. We don't have the x factor but we have a togetherness and the effort to take us close to survival.
Thursday is a different game altogether. The game will be decided on fine margins. I think Coventry will come to not lose and i just hope we don't fall into the game style we used against Wycombe. This team and management will give everything for us and that is all i ask.
Man for man QPR - a mid-table side if ever there was one - might have players who are marginally better than ours. They have that little bit more creativity that gets them the extra ten points a season, but if we are on our game and/or they are slightly off theirs we are capable of beating them.
We have drawn two games with Huddersfield this season - we conceded a freak own goal in the last minute at home and missed a last minute sitter away. If those two things had gone our way, we would be three places higher right now and still with our games in hand.
Fine margins indeed. All ifs and buts.
We are doing fantastically well. We can not ask for any more than we are getting. It looks like it might go to the wire, and when it comes to the crunch I fancy us to do what it takes just because of the spirit we have, and perhaps also because we were expected to go down and won't fall apart as a club if we do (I wonder whether Wednesday, Derby, Huddersfield etc can actually afford to be in League One) so have less to lose and less to be uptight about.
