Deflected second. Looking like one of those days. We arent handling their big striker at all. They havent had to work for their goals. All the fancy football in this division and when it matters on the big day we cant handle long balls up to a big target man.
Nothing wrong with our shape and discipline at Hillsborough, Bristol or even at Millwall. Today's just going pear shaped. These are going to take the pee now with time wasting. Coyldnt be more frustrated.
their defence and keeper are playing outstanding, they just look to have more belief, they do the gamesmanship so well, we have never been smart at that. You have to take your chances, we need to be honest with ourselves we have to score 3 goals second half a draw is not enough, the heads will start to drop and then you can go 5 or 6 defeats on the trot and be bottom before you know it. We really need to show some real fight in this second half, we will learn a lot by the next 45 minutes, if we are to go down which looks likely can we go down fighting and at least improve on the 42 points of our last relegation.
It's all too frantic. Harem scarem. Theres a lack of composure. They have been given a gift of a first goal and fluked a second. Unlike so many other games we have had lots of possession and twice as many efforts on goal, but that terrible start seemed to panic us and it doesnt look good.
I know what you mean Brad. A good part of me hates this division. Hang in there pal. It isnt the end of the world.the frustration is that we have worked so hard and performed so well against some good sides, and then have a day like this against this shower. Perhaps the realisation of being favourites at kick off in such an important game has thrown us off. Who knows? I do think if we can get one back early on in the second half theres every chance we will get more.
Being in L1 next season isnt the best place to be, if you all think this crisis is over then you are kidding yourself and if football is closed again or fans kept away some L1 and L2 clubs will go for good, the revenue from being in the championship would be very welcome as well as the increased TV exposure. However back to the game, the difference for me is Wycombe believe they still have a chance to stay up, they certainly look determined to to come bottom, you cannot say our lot look like there is belief they have a chance of staying up, you can cover up the issue by talking about lucky goals but you create the luck by starting sharp to create the opportunities. Let us see what the next 45 mins brings, but wanting your team to go down seems a strange thing to me
The most frustrating 90 minutes of football I've seen. Biggest game of the season and our worst performance. From the first minute we were panicky and looked desperate. I dont know why in such a big game we changed a system that we have been comfortable in. Whether that had anything to do with the outcome I dont know. We just didnt play well enough. It's going to be tough now.
summary from commentators they are really up for this and the team spirit is very good, that is the issue no believe in this, it shows we lack confidence, a shocking defeat. The substitutions were awful again, Warnes subs cost us 10 points a season for me, our best football this season had Smith and Crooks behind him, why wouldn't you play that way? It is like he doesn't want to win, our home form is terrible, I wouldn't be surprised if we end up bottom 2 and less than 42 points. I said the 2nd 45 mins would tell us a lot about this team and our chances, I think 3 relegation's is enough for Warne, we will never move forward with him here, let him have until the end of the season but we cannot start next season in L1 with him in charge, he is a nice bloke but he isn't a winner.
smiler how the players are mentally comes from the manager, if they weren't mentally right and badly prepared there is only one place to look and that is to the leadership they have to prepare them. Ogbene is not ready to play yet that is obvious Flo is a poor player, you may get 1 or 2 crosses from him a game, but he doesn't work hard enough, we had a formation that got us results including against Derby at home that last decent home performance, we throw that away. I am sorry I genuinely do not think Warne knows how to win on a regular basis, his decisions are erratic. Out of respect for his service let him stay until the end but after the last kick he should be let go and we start a fresh next year, the Warne years are over now. Obviously I am basing that on a working assumption we will go down, but can you genuinely see us pull back 7 points in 10 games and that is just to catch up.
I agree that change is desperately needed, the "old pals" ex players club must be dismantled, the joke of a recruitment team complete with the ridiculous loan signings needs replacing, go down with a new approach, fresh ideas & above all change.
