I understand that referees have 50/50 calls to make. I think Preston's goal on Saturday was one of them. Maybe the penalty shout for the Wood foul last night was another. In fairness Cardiff had a couple of penalty appeals that fell into the 'seen them given' category. You win some, you lose some and you accept that refs have a difficult job and are human beings and move on. Last night though I thought there were some instances where there were 100% fouls not given - so obvious that it was almost unbelievable when they weren't given. The barge into Smith was just too blatant for words. There was a two hands in the back push by Moore on Robertson about ten minutes before the end right in front of the linesman that was so clear cut it was a joke. Nothing. The push on Wiles in added time was the final straw for me. A more obvious foul you couldnt wish to see, but nothing doing. It really felt surreal at times.
That goal Preston scored the ref got it right on quest no one questioned it. Our goalkeeper fluffed it he was to blame that's it. The officials should consider downing tools for a bit with abuse they get good human beings don't behave that way. As far as I am concerned they are in charge even when they are wrong they are right.
I agree that players and managers should accept decisions without question.
Obviously abuse of officials by anyone is totally unacceptable and I wouldnt blame them for 'downing tools' in response to it. I think it is notable that Warne refused to comment on Mr Eltringham when asked to do so, and in fact he never gets drawn into criticism of officials in interviews. To the best of my recollection neither he nor Barker have ever been disciplined for post match comments, yellow carded or even warned by a referee for dissent. I am sure you would like to commend Warney for that, THMiller? Given your zero tolerance stance, you must have been highly critical of Steve Evans and his behaviour and favourite post match 'I'm not questioning the integrity of the referee but (proceed to criticise the referee)' lines?
I have heard warney moan like a stuck pig same as the rest. Evans is worse than him expected being Scottish who understands him when he is going at full tilt. The officials are in charge take control of the situation if they don't it will get worse.

I have heard and seen Warne and Barker making their feelings known to the fourth official. I've never seen them overstep the mark. I have never seen them get yellow cards. I have never heard them blame a referee for a defeat. I didn't really expect you to give them credit for anything. I think you might explode if you were to do that.
The statement that Evans is worse might be the understatement of the year! I dont know how to create a link, but copy what appears below and paste it into your search engine
Thought a manager could send a report in after the game if he thought the referee then had got it wrong. Know that's not going to change anything but might get that ref being checked on in future games. I wish we'd got that ref from the Preston game tues for the Cardiff game, he got the big decisions right in our game there.
99% of the time I think refs get it right . I haven't seen a game this season where I think overall the ref had an unnecessary and deleterious overall impact. In the Cardiff game as with the preston game there were judgement calls. I tend to think that the ref and linesman/women are much closer and have a better feel for the game than anyone else. They are more neutral and closer than the management team and I often think than the players themselves. When I have played a sport or for that matter 'the game of life ' the difference of opinion is constant. It is fresh still in the memory the amount of times a ref has given a foul against me when I knew I was well beat and visa versa.
We are of course straying into the old argument for VAR.
