No Len, I was agreeing with you. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Accept my apologies pal, but I am sick and tired of negative posts about our club who are trying to do the best they can (management and players), we are where we are, and I believe that's as it gets at the moment.

No worries, totally agree on that.

Cheer up we did win watched highlights on Quest thought they flattered Derby. Blackman did ok I reckon it was those red gloves that did it. As some of you have said the need for another striker is obvious brecks was on about it he did say there could be a signing in soon. Mission Impossible back on for the next match.

Exetermiller I'm thinking mostly same we caught Derby same as us against Barnsley not quite match sharp after isolating from covid-19. Also they are same as Wednesday, in their eyes we are not worthy! Can't rest on our laurels just need that left full/wing back & striker ready for the battle now don't need a pre season to get match sharp. We deserved that yesterday some encouraging performances for us + a ref who I can take getting one game changing decision wrong for us but not two. UTM

Nice to nick a tight game for a change and get a goal in the last few minutes instead of conceding one. We managed injury time a lot better than we have done previously and it didn’t feel like mass panic.

Jamie Lindsay was outstanding again, he never stopped running again.

Why do you think it is mission impossible on Tuesday against Stoke Th ? They are obviously in flying form then and ripping goals in.

In there last eight league games they have won only once, drawn five times and lost twice. In those eight games they have only scored four times. They seem to be concentrating on defence as they have only let five goals in from those same eight games. Now if you had said they have a squad capable of ripping sides up and are due a good result i might have agreed with you. I have a feeling they might not fancy coming to us on a wet night (which is predicted) and against a side who will push them back and battle for every ball. Not a mission impossible in my eyes.

realmiller, we do not want censorship on here, there is too many people attacking free speech in the world at the moment and it is up the little guy to fight for it where we can.

No issue with free speech at all derbymiller. I rarely agree with anything you say but I’ve no issue with you saying it. It’s blatant repetitive trolling that I have an issue with and I’m not alone on here.

The Derby fans are taking it badly, here's a selection from the 54 pages of comments at defcfans.uk:

Awful performance. Byrne and Shinnie were Ok. Roos had little to do. Best team won.

Rooney out!

Even a "homer" ref couldn't save us.

I don't ever remember being this down after a game so, I'm trying to talk myself into a better state of mind.

Nothing,I repeat nothing would surprise me this season......I could witness Elvis Presley himself slip on our number 9 shirt and just shrug my shoulders.

The pitch is a metaphor for us as a club - looked pretty good a few seasons back but now looks tired and not fit for purpose.

That was grim.

It's like witnessing a horrible divorce taking place,it's nasty and heartwrending and everyone will be better off when it's done, even if we end up in a smaller house.....

Which stage of grief are we all at? Today I finally reached “acceptance”. League One here we come!
Today we were lucky to lose by only 1 as it could have been 2 or 3 in the end.

We’ve got the February collapse in form to come yet 😂

We are still in business, no guarantee we can survive this on or off the pitch

Awful, awful performance.

We are in big trouble.

whiston01 what I mean by mission impossible is winning two games on the trot if we are going to have any chance of stopping up it has to happen.

What’s your problem with Crooks Hillsbrough ? He hasn’t had a good start to the season but has shown an improvement in recent games which in my view has led to an upturn in the firm of the team. I think he “makes us tick”.

Incidentally, i do think we need to consider a second attacking player in the formation for some games. The whole purpose of moving to 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 as it may be, was to get a second striker on while keeping 3 in midfield.

currently we’re starting with 4 midfielders and i‘m not sure it was really 5-3-1-1 more of a 5-4-1 as Crooks did much of his best work starting the attacks with his midfield play. During the second half i thought we were falling into our familiar folly of playing too deeo and Derby were getting on top for a spell, so i hoped to see Freddy on to complement smudge not replace him. I would have taken Wiles off and we’d have never won the free kick that won the game for us. Who’d be a manager, heh ?

so i dont disagree with Hillsborough that we might want to tweak the formation and go 2 up top. Given that we look most likely to score from set pieces i’d be open to playing both centre forwards in tandem and giving it a try. The question is more in relation to other recent posts suggesting Crooks should be next to go which i consider nonesense.

back to yesterday, i thought we deserved the win especially after our first half dominance  and Derby were “there for the taking” so its essential that we win those games when they happen, i thought the whole eleven were in their game which helps. I wasn’t thrilled with the goalkeeper decision as Blackman doesn’t fill me with confidence but he was fine yesterday- more of the same please. Also impressed with Hardings left footed crossing !

i thought that the ref actually had a good game apart from the criminal sending off decision. My freeze frame tells me that the offside decision was correct regardless of whether Icky got a flick on.

the league table certainly looks better now than over the last few weeks while we’ve been largely out of action. Lets hope we keep up the momentum over the busy month to come. One things for sure, we wont win them all so lets not get silly next time we lose one.

Not sure on the time scale of Sadlier and his rehab from injury but I think he could be more suited to that number ten role instead of on the wing.

its his inconsistency and he hasnt been on his game this season yet he plays ahead of other players. that my opinion and i respect those who like him.

yesterday he was in an offside position and his positioning was what caused our first goal to be chalked off

Saw him twice at Donny last season and he looked more effective playing more down middle, so you could be right C.

I reckon, now we seem to like playing the 3-5-2 they will train with more than one player in same positions, so we can swap players around from the squad. Plus I expect us to bring in another striker before end Jan. Chio will be back too and he'll want to play in some role.

If we can win a few, confidence will come from it and who plays where won't matter as quite as much & nice to have competition for places again.

Agree with this when the season started I thought we had players that could hurt certain teams with Ogbene Sadlier coming back to add to Barlaser and Crooks these are players who if can avoid further injury will add quality the more they play together something they haven’t managed Crooks in particular has struggled They can all play in different positions which give good options for Warne

I thin Crooks almost epitomises what we are as a side. Too good for League One but question marks about whether he is good enough for the Championship. Big and strong but can also play a bit at times. I think what gets overlooked a bit is how hard Crooks works when he plays in that forward role. We ask him to work across the back four when the other side has the ball and also to drop into midfield to help out in there, as well to get up and support Smith as much as he can. It's a big ask. I agree that he hasnt had the impact as an attacking/goalscoring force that we and no doubt he would have wanted. On Saturday his turn and pass to put Harding through in the first half and lung busting late run down the left late on were impressive but he frustrated at times giving possession away cheaply. Personally I think we have looked a better side when Shaun MacDonald has played in midfield. I also think Ogbene will give us something extra with his phenomenal pace assuming he still has it. We never really saw the best of Sadlier before his injury, so hopefully there is more to come from him aswell. Add another forward threat into the mix, and it will put us back where we were when we started the season looking quite good, which is with a good squad and selection headaches. With two games a week virtually every week, that will not be a bad thing.

At the moment if we play 2 up front it's either Crooks or Wiles sitting it out. Barlaser & Lindsay on merit start. If all fit can't see there being any signings before tomorrow night be same starting 11 that started at Derby. I've said I was impressed with Harding at left wing back especially 1st half being able to get forward on the outside crossing well with his left foot. When Ogbene gets back fit he'll play on the right with only one up front. Sadlier will give us another option, I'd like to see him in that no. 10 role behind the loan forward. Get that left full/wing back & forward in good enough up to speed will give us a better chance of championship football next season.
