They have signed Reid for a six figure sum on a three year contract. It was initially said he would return to Ross County for rest of season. Wonder if they might change their minds now Giles has gone.

 Lol

I am not sure what to make of Gwru wanting Giles putting straight into the side.  Can you help us Gwru?  Do you rate Giles having seen him play, or do you just have faith in the ability of DelBoy (as you disrespectfully called one of the most highly respected and honest managers in the EFL last week) to spot a player, so are assuming he is decent?

So you don't like the new signing could be ok with no proper left back at the moment no brainer. Get him as soon as possible as for respect in football it every man for themselves.

I think we have to trust the management as to what/when/where we play the new lad Giles. His last start in a game (70 mins) was on 29th Dec 2020. He did come on as sub for the last 23 mins on 2/1/21. It looks to me that Giles is not a left back in a back four and came on as sub in a 3.4.2.1. as the left sided of the two forward players. He has also played as the left side of a midfield four. The Coventry fans see him as a wide player with pace who can cross a ball. I am not sure away at Middlesbrough and if we play 3.5.2 with him as the wing back would be playing to his strengths. I could be wrong as i have not seen him or if i have i cannot remember much about him. I will leave it to the management team. I do think though that a left sided player with pace can only add to our squad. Good luck young man.

Why are you jumping in?  Did you forget who you were for a few seconds?

I haven't seen Ryan Giles play.  If Warne thinks he is good enough, I am happy for him to go straight in.  We do still have other options though, and throwing someone straight into the side - particularly in a defensive position - isn't always the best idea.  Sometimes it helps to get a feel for who your teammates are and how they play.  As I have said before to you - sorry to your mate - this is real life, not FIFA 2021 on Playstation.

As for respect, people in and around the game seem to have a lot of time and respect for Warne.  He conducts himself very well and has real (emphasis on real) integrity.  He is not the same sort of 'man of integrity' as a convicted fraudster, for example, who might make such a claim from time to time despite hard evidence to the contrary.  Referring to him as DelBoy, the archetypal dodgy wheeler dealer, was very cheap and typically ill considered.  Libel and slander laws apply to football as they do to any other walk of life.  If I was Warney, I might be sending a Letter Before Action out to Thurcroft ex post haste demanding withdrawal of the slur and a public apology.

I haven't seen him play, but Ryan Giles seems to be a highly rated young player who plays in a position where we needed strengthening.  By all accounts he is a real attacking threat which we have lacked down our left side.  He is obviously a bit short on experience but has seen the Championship this season so will know what it is all about.  I look forward to seeing him play and wish him well.

smiler del boy he's in recruitment with Scotty or he was not heard much about him lately. I watched Middlesbrough Sunday they aren't the Bora side of 5 or 6 seasons ago. They are still strong but not got that quality. Giles he's had some game time so he's fit. So start him there. Can't see point of bringing him in if you don't. We've been crying out for a left wing back since we started playing this system. UTM

Never used a playstation is it for kids tell me where is the respect in football none for the officials for starters. Everyone slags each other off look at Wigan manager the players soon headed for the hills. Players dropping down as soon as you come within 6 inches of them. Having said that this might be a decent signing got to get one right in January twitter came good with the info on this one.

well done to the club in getting him in, it will take a few games for him to settle and get to the level of fitness we expect, but pleased to see us filling that left side

It does explain Gwru. Fair enough. Apologies for reading the wrong inference onto your earlier post. Rarely do players come in and play straight away and perform well. The exception to the rule was Farrend Rawson - perhaps with a few of you I saw his debut in a win at Huddersfield when we were so desperate for defensive cover that nobody in the away end knew who the hell he was. He had an absolute blunder, but of course it turned out he was so last minute that he shouldn't have been playing at all and they docked us the points. I wouldnt be surprised if Giles was on the bench for tomorrow and saved for Saturday. We shall see.

smiler no problem. I'd be tempted to start with Giles. With 3 at the back there's more defensive cover, will be when Robertson's up to speed. Having seen Middlesbrough Sunday think we can get something out of the game.

TC with players we've got available can only play with 3 at back with wing backs.
