OK, a couple of days have passed and the disappointment has subsided somewhat. No time for what ifs, time to be positive about tomorrow's game against Derby who have had 3 draws and 2 wins in their last 5. On current form, I think they'd be in the top 6 so it's going to be another tough one.
I expect PW to stick with the same formula which served us so well against Bristol City and Blackburn. Depending on how Wood has come through two successive games, he might bring Harding in on the left side of the back 3 or he might give Thompson a run. I'd start with Lapado up front with Smith and see if we can nick an early goal - those two are our most likely scorers.
I'd also stick with Johansson in goal - he's done nothing majorly wrong so far and he definitely gives confidence to the defence.
I'm still not convinced about Johansson. Not tall for a keeper. I'd still like to see Vickers. Harding for Wood & Hirst for Vassell. We haven't got many more options. 5 subs allowed is a disadvantage to us. Most championship clubs have 5 good enough we haven't.
They're on a roll & come into this game with confidence.
We simply need to put in another Bristol City performance & go for them from the first whistle, no sitting back if we get in front. They get almost a week off after this one so no taking them off & saving them for the next game ( Mr Warne), leave everything out there. Derby look good against pretty tippy tap sides like Swansea but to quote Cpl Jones "they won't like it up 'em" so lets go out & blitz them get the 3 points & have a happy Christmas for all of us instead of another poor display that'll please only two (more likely one).
I think this match will give us a reliable indicator of our prospects of survival. Admittedly we are suffering with key players out but Bristol and Blackburn have been absolutely decimated and i fully expected us to win both games against much weakened opposition. Tomorrow will be different and hopefully will prove we are up to it at this level. In January we must recruit a mobile striker (preferably one who can control a football !), a left back and possibly another midfielder. I remain unconvinced by either goalkeeper- Blackman is not brave and unfortunately the Swedish lad is just not big enough but we need to give him a chance..
Splinter - Johansson is 6ft 1inch which is not small. But I have not seen a keeper for us dominate the area as much as him for many a season. Blackman is ***bersome and I fear every time the ball comes into the area that he will mishandle it. As for Vickers - who knows? Has to be J for me!
I can not help but wonder whether Johanssin might have come and dealt with the up and under that resulted in Blackburns winning goal. It was in the air for an awful long time and landed on the six yard line. I have to be honest and put that out there. I think if Blackman had been in goal people might be pointing a finger over that, but Johansson still carries some goodwill and it hasnt really been mentioned. Having said that, I still trust him more than I trust Blackman at the moment.
I've also got to say that I never really rated Lee Camp. I always thought he was a bit of a 'liner' and a keeper who let goals in where I often had a nagging doubt that he could have done better. I accept that I might be in the minority, but there it is.

That might be true Smiler but if I'm honest, I couldn't bring myself to watch the goals back after the game. I've only seen it once as it happened and didn't notice at the time.
As for Camp, I personally think he's one of the best keepers we've had in my time watching the Millers, I thought he superb in the Warnock season and deservedly got the clubs player of the year award.

I might be being harsh on Johansson. That was my thought though in real time. As the ball was in the air I yelled 'keeper' and was surprised that he wasnt under it. I'm not blaming him. It's just an observation. As for Camp, that's fair enough. I know a lot of fans rated him highly and he has had a good career. I just didnt see it myself. Instinctively I like a keeper to be bigger than Camp was, but also braver and more decisive than Blackman seems to be. I would pick Johansson again tomorrow, but I am not yet convinced that he is the long term solution. Its early days for him. He seems like a likeable character and I hope he makes the spot his own.
Said Taylor was 5ft 10 when we signed him? Johansson he'll be under 6ft. Lack of height for a keeper times it will tell was like Blackburn's winning goal Wednesday in a crowded penalty area when he can't challenge for the ball. Camp didn't want to play for us cause he knew we were going down so he couldn't be bothered.
If we'd won at Blackburn (deserved) or at least got a point, I'd be more confident as losing puts more pressure on todays game. I hope the players don't feel the same.
It's nearly 5 hours to kick-off and I'm already nervous.
I know we can win - but fear our luck, the Ref and missed chances will be our handicaps again.
