Well done for at least putting that last post in semi decent English TH. It's a stupid thing for you to say, but at least for once I understood what you were talking about.

I agree with Smiler on the subs, not really sure what other ones he could've made. If he'd kept the same team on for longer without making any subs and they'd scored then he'd be getting blamed for not bringing anyone on. I don't always think we drop back either, I think we quite often just get pushed back the quality of the opposition, they brought on former England and Germany internationals, we don't have that luxury.

I wish I was celebrating a win but I don't believe in fairytales. Subs I wouldn't have started with Vassell anyway. He's surplus. Fit players we've got 10 - Vassell that started + Harding & Ladapo that's what we've got to go with till transfer window. Warney to me looks type of person who you wouldn't take much notice of. If we want a better chance of staying up he's got to go.

Tonight reminded me of a game we played at home to Bradford at the Don Valley Stadium where we were the best team and I remember saying on our way out of the stadium that that was the most one sided 2-1 defeat I'd ever seen...

In that we were the best side by far but didn't get the result..

The very LEAST we deserved was a point and I feel for the players who must be absolutely gutted..

but we outplayed a team who are good at home and a bogey team (hence the result)

Ok, we should have taken one of a number of chances to go 2-0, and in the end that cost us, BUT:

we play like that - we don't go down...

Off to sulk now for 24 hours or so...

UTM

Damned if you do, damned if you dont as a manager. My personal opinion was that I could see the reasoning behind the substitutions. He got stick not long ago for only making a couple of changes when we have five at our disposal. Bottom line, when we lose he cops criticism in some shape or form. That's just how it is.

Christmas Day nine days early for TH & gwru.
The team & management team must coach game management surely?
If they do as I assume why does the identical scenario keep playing out time & time again?

BTM two games ago you was calling for Paul Cook in as manager. We beat Bristol City but we had to play above ourselves to put in a performance like that. How many times a season can we do that to make up.for our lack of ability? Recruitment lacking in the last 3 at least transfer windows it's catching up with us now.

Warnie again showed naivety in his substitutions yet again tonight & the game management that I assume they coach was idiotic yet again but in general I thought the performance was good but what this squad is sadly lacking is "bad cop"

Now I’ve had time to think.

Played well and the game should have been over after about 70 minutes.

Will comment on the subs now, just took the lead through a brilliant finish from Smith, triple substitution? Sorry but I’m absolutely baffled by that and still am having time to think. Would Blackburn have subbed Adam Armstrong after scoring? Absolutely no chance.

Then the most pointless sub of pointless subs, Jones for Barlaser. Can anyone explain why it was a good idea to put a third choice full back into midfield? This also added on more time to the seven already added on.

He brought Jones on in midfield against Bristol City but nobody mentioned it because we won.

Playing the ball into the corner plus an injury time substitution cost us the game & the management have to take the blame for that.

But what did it add other than adding on more additional time?

Take a good midfielder off to put a third choice right back on out of position.

Odd.

not odd a mistake, a mistake that cost us a point, a mistake that PW didn't take ownership of post match

Just to say, it didnt create any additional time. 30 seconds gets added on, bit there is no action during the 30 seconds it takes. The ball is in play for the same amount of time overall. I'm not the biggest fan of Jones but he has played quite a lot in midfield and at this level and above. He has bags of experience. People are talking about game management and at the same time are criticising a substitution that puts fresh legs on in midfield that belong to a very experienced pro who has been there and done it. It seems a very understandable substitution to me. Why are we so desperate to blame somebody?

Because there's fault there that's why. Weapons grade timewasting especially from 70 minutes onwards, free kick on 96 minutes played into the corner when it has been proven time & again we're no good at it. I take no pleasure from criticising but PW/RB & MH ARE CALPABLE, just as they were praiseworthy on Saturday. This season just feels like groundhog day with the same **** ( Birmingham, Norwich Huddersfield now Blackburn) happening far too often to be put down to coincidence.

We are just lacking in certain positions. Crooks I've always said not up to this level, proved it again last night. Vassell he's well off this level. Smith & Ladapo missed chances that cost us in the end. I'm worried about lack of height for Johansson. We haven't got that outlet to take pressure off the defence. Can't see Warney changing it. My opinion too many Warney boys on this site. Take those rose tinted glasses off!

I with brad on this as he put roughly what i was going to put. He keeps crookes on despite him yet again. He scored on saturday so. But warne apart from one occasion dropped him. Warne tactical.substitutions are poor. We need tilt back in jan as we cant rely on woody robertson injury prone

On a previous thread DKNY made this very good point and asked a question, which tellingly nobody answered. Hope he doesn't mind me quoting him as it's still just as relevant.

"But after every defeat theres a social media inquest from a large number people who have no concept that two teams participate in a game and believe its totally in our managers control. Every defeat, and some draws, are because he picked the wrong team, selected the wrong tactics, made the wrong subs or had poor game management at the end.

Here’s a question...

What if Warne picks the right team and tactics, makes the right substitions and displays good game management..

..and so does the opposing manager ?"

I’ll hold my hands up and say that when we went 1-0 my first thought was “get Freddy on” My reasoning was that Blackburn would have to chase the equaliser and Freddy’s pace might catch them on the counter. Turned out he lost the ball cheaply on many occasions. Other weeks he comes on and threatens to score a hat trick. You never know what you’re going to get unless you’re Captain hindsight of course.
