I think our management must think our fans are like most on here can't see what's in front of them! Hamshaw said Vass did well, he was never in the game. I've already said two changes Harding for Wood & Ladapo for Vassell.
Why did you need to put that first sentence in Gwru?. I tend to agree with the rest of your post and would go along with that team for Wednesday, giving Wood a rest and looking to get him back in when we need him.
Whiston without Wood in the team the left hand side of our defence is exposed if we are sticking with this 352 shape Wood is going to have to play until Tilt comes back in January or Robertson is fit
Yes that is a good point 'Hensons'. I just think past performances has indicated that Wood will struggle to play games close together and i don't think we should expect him to play every game up to January. Harding has said he can play on the left and did well i seem to remember when he played there.
I don't worry about Wood being able to play again four days after yesterdays game. Yesterday was ideal for Wood competing against Chris Martin, who is fairly static and likes to use his own physicality. If Wood has a weakness it is a lack of pace/mobility - something Blackburns forward line has plenty of. If I was to leave Wood out, that would be the reason. It is still the case though that whichever way you slice it, we get more points in games Wood plays in than in those he misses. Perhaps what he lacks in pace he makes up for in leadership, experience and communication skills - qualities that shouldn't be underrated.
Warney will play the same team as yesterday if fit. We need two wins on the bounce to stand any chance of stopping up. As I have said is it mission impossible this message will self destruct in 30 seconds.
In their last two games (Norwich and Bristol City), both of which they lost, Blackburn have dominated possession, had 20 shots in each with 7/8 on target. However, they've only scored one goal. They're obviously missing their key striker, Bradley Dack who has been out for almost a year following a cruciate ligament operation. They hope to have him back before Christmas but hopefully not on Wednesday night!
I'd be tempted to keep the same team as yesterday with the possible exception of Lapado for Vassell. It won't hurt us to have a relatively settled line-up.
My logic would be that trying to play same away as home hasn't quite worked.
So for me I'd stick with yesterdays formation/line up at Home. But away I'd put and extra man in back 4 to make it a back 5. Either that or an extra man in middle. Play Smith up front on his own. (Freddy & Vassell as options in second half if Smith gets knackered or we get behind).
Especially as most teams , Blackburn included, are only scoring a few goals - so stay in game and midfield support Smith when we are in possesion to try and score, but keep tight at the back.
Only my thoughts - leave it to Warney..
I've loved this weekend - what a difference a win makes to a true fan
David no disrespect but isn’t that what we’ve tried to do in a lot of games the problem is Smith wins a lot of flick ons but we don’t get anyone close enough to him to support him although as yesterday proved Crooks is good at this when he’s in that mood
David Hope you are well, I have to say I disagree on this, trying to stay in games away has got us nowhere. Blackburn have had a wobble let's just go at them. We need to target games where we can get points this to me is one of them and we should set up the same as for a home game They are a jekyll and hide team let**** them and see if we can cause then to have s bad day, we have got to try something different
I think we went to Warford looking to stay in the game and set up very negatively. Vassell was like an auxiliary left back in the first half. Other away games I think we have generally started brightly but got into the habit at QPR, Watford and Coventry of giving the first goal away cheaply. What we need to do is not go behind early. I agree we need to pose an attacking threat. If we can get the first goal we have every chance because Blackburn wont be full of confidence at the moment
Derby at home on saturday is a much bigger game, they will only improve especially by the time we play them again in January, they will have strengthened their squad by then. I don't expect anything away at blackburn and we do not want to lose key players. Rest wood, don't risk Freddie, play Jones and rest wiles as well
Warne tends to stick with the same line up after a good result if everyone is fit. I think he'll probably do the same again at Blackburn, but you never know.
