I have never been or will ever go to hospitality wasted on me. Part of football today the club needs the income. The only thing I have against it some people who get in for nowt and say they are millers fans but will not pay to go. I also understand some can't afford it.
smiler Warney he's got to win me over. Keep us up & I'll congratulate him. Football Roth U level I see as a working class sport. I've never been in hospitality at the NYS. I just pay my money & go. I know all people can't get to games. I can so I do. That's all I've got to say. I'm not into long posts.
I look forward to that day Gwru. The day when we finish fourth from bottom or better, and you have to add Paul Warne to the ever lengthening list of people you wrote off with great certainty and were proved wrong about (or as you prefer to put it, changed your mind with performances lol). I pray for it to happen. But it won't will it? If we go down you will say you told us so. If we stay up you will find some excuse to explain why we were lucky, and set a new challenge for the following season with a higher bar. That is how you work.
I do go in hospitality sometimes. When I do, like you I just pay my money and go. In fact I pay about thirty times more than you to go on that day because I pay about three times as much per head and pay for about ten visitors who wouldn't otherwise be there. That is more revenue for the club in a day than you give them in a season. And I still pay for my season ticket - it is unused for that fixture. I am fortunate enough to be able to do that, but I have many other ways that I could spend that money and I choose to spend it there to support my club. It isn't a competition. I'm just trying to put your narrow mindedness into some kind of perspective. I spend a fraction compared to some of our big corporate supporters. You should speak to Paul Douglas and ask him where he thinks we would be without them.

If I may explain how hospitality works. Successful company buys a box for the season. They invite chosen clients or potential clients in order to cement their relationship. They get in for nowt. The seats have already been paid for. In trendy terms, it's called networking. Not too hard to understand is it?
Two people I know drink were I do they do hospitality they have 2 spare seats every game. Seen who they take they wouldn't pay to watch Roth U. This is true what I'm going to tell you. Not mentioning no names but he's well known round here was a fair player & was involved at Roth U. I'm drinking 2 or 3 years ago Sunday dinner he shouting Breck down saying he's a Judas. A couple of weeks later I see his brother outside ground were hospitality go in. It's a night game. I got back to go in my local both of them were well oiled saying Breck got in touch got them in as quests. Both of them I haven't seen there since. Same as TH that's the thing about hospitality I don't like attracts a few freeloaders.

You have it wrong about me if I got a free ticket for hospitality I would give it away it would make me ill. I don't know anything at all about it I do know some who love the freebies all I am saying is if you enjoyed it why not take a few games in. Couldn't care less what happens in the business world great being retired. None of us will ever put in as much money as our chairman pointless going on about that.
The pair of you are missing the point again, whether deliberately or inadvertently I don't know. The point is this. You talk as if you are the supporters of the year because you buy Mayday tickets and go to every home game. You aren't. Very many other people do at least as much to support the club in similar or other ways. Very few of them that I have met think that their outlay gives them the right to complain incessantly like you two do. To me, and I suspect to most, 'support' is not about how much you spend in the club shop, or whether you used to stand on the Tivoli when Jack Mansell was the manager. It isnt about pretending that you know more or have seen more than anyone else. It's about being proud of the club and getting behind them in all sorts of ways to help us be the best club (and I say club rather than team for a reason) we can be.
Does it make you feel good knowing that you annoy people? I'm half inclined to suggest we meet up for a pint after lockdown to continue the discussion and see how you would behave outside of this virtual world, but I know that in real life I wouldn't want to give you the time of day.
The site is done. The one or two of them have set out to destroy it for their own sad entertainment and have succeeded. Its a shame but that's how it is.
C'mon Smiler - stiff upper lip and all that. You can't let Toot and Floot get to you - that's the equivalent of giving in to Michel Barnier! I like the idea of gwru and TH coming along for a pint, pre game, post covid, and meeting some of the wholesome people in the NY Tavern who are indelibly RUFC, readily voice their opinions, but are willing to listen to others' opinions and never consider that they have sole ownership of what's right and wrong. In fact, I might be surprised because I suspect gwru is about the same vintage as me and probably went to the same school. Could make for an interesting discussion!
Perhaps we could all consider a Banter pre game get-together after this pandemic is put to bed. It could lead to a more understanding and less fractious site? First pints are on me!!
It's all true. When NYS opened bloke I knew worked on the ground. 1st season there he got in for nothing & brought some of his buddies along free gratis. Never saw them again when freebies ran out. Quite a few I know from where I live wouldn't pay to watch Roth U, I say to them football it's played on a pitch not a flat screen!
