My suggestions
Clarke not trusted needs a loan
Vassell contract up in summer let him go now
Hirst hopefully Leicester will take him back and loan him out to the league below he needs to play and it's not happening here for him
Woody hopefully a loan to free up wages been a fantastic signing but his time is up. Who the hell thought the bike ride was a good idea
Smith Thanks very much son but you need to move on
The goalkeeping situation if Blackman is staying loan Johannson out Vickers is a fine back up preferably send Blackman back
We need a midfield enforcer dont know where from but we need one
Get back to 451 with a plan b of 433
Take a punt on a young Prem striker on loan but one who is performing on loan now in league 1 or 2
Drill set plays in training daily we need to get goals from them
Pace kills teams our front man and wide players must have it
As I said on another post Greg Leigh is coming into play left back or on the left of a back 3
A striker with a good scoring record who plays up front on his own is supposed to be lined up though I have seen him linked with S6 today its imperative we get him
I think the player we have missed most through injury is Macdonald. He surprised me with his fitness and he was cool under pressure and controlled the midfield. We definitely need someone of his calibre come Jan. I agree all HPR's other suggestions apart from Smith. He's never going to be a goalscorer but if we do get a good striker in, Smith could be a useful target man and provider.
It's great to have a few excellent posters returning to this site and looking at the board today, the topics and comments appear to have a new energy about them. Perhaps Warney can follow suit.
If we can get away from the tedium of repetitive, self indulgent clap-trap, this could return to being a quality forum regardless of the fortunes of the club. I live in hope!
I dont think we can hope to do much good business in January. It's a tough window. In order of priority we need a genuine left back, a striker with genuine pace and a midfielder organiser with a bit of quality. I would agree that Clarke is a candidate for a loan out. I would let Smith go. I love his work rate and honesty but he isnt asking any real questions of quality defenders. At least Ladapo always has a goal in him. Hirst is out of his depth. The best thing that could happen would be for Ogbene and Shaun Macdonald to get back fit. They are both massive misses.
One name not mentioned is Thompson not featured at all. Woody is going nowhere do agree we could loan one of the goalkeepers out. I would bring Kayode back and Cooper is Vassell being put in the shop window to sell?. As for the twitter rumours about players we are supposed to be interested in has it come from agents.
I agree with most of what 'Henson' has to say. Clarke loaned out is what i have said would help his development. Vassell is ok coming on now and again but i believe both player and club would benefit from a move. Wood has been a great servant for us and is the only fit left footed centre back. However, i think he needs to be used very sparingly and his lack of pace is likely to get found out more often in this league. Curtis Tilt isn't mentioned on here much. Played very well in the Wigan side in Saturdays 1-0 win at Sunderland. I think he is a natural left footer and needs to be back in Jan if he stays fit. Very highly rated by Blackpool fans. Crooks looks to be struggling in this league this time. if we could get a decent price for him i would sell him. Smith is a lower league striker but offers us something different to what we have got. If we could get a better version i would also move him on. Not sure about goalkeepers. We had Bilboe a decent junior as our number three. He has now gone so if we were to move one of the seniors on it would expose the current yougster who i know nothing of. Ask Leicester to take Hirst back because his chances for us will be limited.
What do we do come Jan. Bring Tilt Back. Sign a left back (interested in Leigh again?). Sign a quick striker either on loan or permanent. Bring in a holding midfield player. Some time ago i said we should sign Callum Camps from Rochdale, a quality midfield player who has an eye for goal. He went to Fleetwood when his contract was up and has scored eight times i believe from midfield this season. He will now demand a fee but i rate him and i am sure other clubs will be looking at him in Jan and Fleetwood will sell him because of their financial situation. I think the talk of bringing Kayode and Cooper back to a struggling championship club is ridiculous. Kayode has played ten times this season in Division two and scored once. Nowhere near ready yet so let him develop. Cooper is in non league football. He is a right footed central defender, so is Ihiekwe, McDonald, Thhompson and Harding also likes to play there. Please tell me how he is going to get in the side before them. Again leave him where he is and let him develop. Sorry about the long post again
Apparently he signed a short term contract with Aberdeen in October. He has only played four times for them. HensonsPr seems to think it's a done deal.
Not too fussed who goes out - I'm assuming Tilt might go (don't really get what happened with him, as Warne wanted him in - so either he now thinks he's rubbish, or summat has happened personality wise). I'd send Hirst back who has been a HUGE disappointment, though we got him in on a season long loan, so if we are still committed to his wages he'll surely stay.
I'm very interested in who comes in :
I Haven't got named players in mind but I'd look for this, and in this order (and I assume all loans to season end):
1 x Left back - I don't see Clarke in this role, so we simply don't have one when Mattock is injured (which is far too often and I dislike him for it, like the bloke who calls you at work to bunk off and says he's got a poorly tummy - again and again)
2 x Strikers - we lack goals. Freddy is the best of what we have but we need other options, so I'd get two strikers in. In games where we are close to winning, we are not taking enough of the chances we create.
1 x Center Back - we've looked vulnerable, I'd prefer Woody to MacDonald any day, plus Woody is a goal threat at set pieces whereas MacDonald is as much a goal threat as my dog.
In my opinion, if he does not bring in a left back and at least one striker, we'll go down. What we do NOT need in my opinion is yet another midfield player, as that's not good if we can't defend or score, and I think in the middle we've looked ok mostly.
I'd play 4-4-2 or similar at home, and 5-4-1 away (or 4-5-1)
Decent post that Davidedin, but i must take you up on the harsh treatment of joe Mattock and his sick notes.
Joe Mattock for RUFC. 2015-16 = 36 games
2016-17= 37 games
2017-18 = 39 games
2018-19 = 46 games
2019 -20 = 25 games ( only 35 games played)
2020-21 = 11 games.
Mattock has had quite a few suspensions in his time as well so i don't think his injury record is too bad. I do think he is declining quickly though and we need a replacement asap. I still do not believe Clarke as a full back is the answer though.
Blackman going back makes sense frees up a wage so we can strengthen elsewhere. Johansson looks comfortable Vickers is experienced in league 1 so they will be fine
I know Smith played well but TS needs to be brave go and pay what Wimbledon want and get Joe Pigott he can play the loan striker role or team him up with Ladapo
Reading Crooks saying Warney he's got backing of the players even if we get relegated. Bound to say that Warney he's most of the players meal ticket! He keeps crocks on & players ready for retirement! No if we get relegated this time got to be a change.
That comment by Crooks sounds a bit defeatist have we lost some games before we have gone on the pitch. Makes you wonder if the players have got it into their heads we are down already.
Fancy that. The manager backs his players and the players back the manager.
I expected the manager the slag off his players off in public and for the players to come out and call for the manager to be sacked Jesus. Not. They didnt look like a doomed outfit to me on Saturday, and the old standards like 'he has lost the changing room' and 'the players arent playing for him' certainly dont seem to apply. But hey, why take a positive when you can find look hard and make up a negative? Jesus wept.
We played very well against Bristol no one is arguing about that. Coventry/Watford what happened got to change game over before shorts have got dirty. If you think there is not a problem there you are living in la la land.
Can you help me with Coventry/Watford what happened got to change game before shorts have got dirty. I am not being funny T.H i just do not get the sentence.
