You don't sound like a fan Derby. You sound like somebody who just wants to point the finger at Warne and barker. We are being totally outclassed by superior players. Arsene Wenger would struggle to get much more out of this game for us.
The December fixtures always looked tricky, but I think what confidence we had left was lost on Saturday when outplayed by a Coventry team we took 4 points from last season.
Something has to change in January, which is where my focus is now, cos with our injuries and lack of cover on the left back position and lack of a decent striker option (Hirst has been such a dissapointment, though he's not played much), we are simply not good enough just now - compounded by lack of confidence.
For me, and I'm assuming Warne stays - so I would look to get in 5 or 6 decent (expensive) loan players to give us fresh legs, more cover and hopefully inject some confidence and quality, to give us a fighting chance.
If we can't afford to buy - if Tony wants to have a chance of us staying up - he needs to spend bigger for the half season with better loan players.
Then get injured players back and add a few new ones in close season.
Back to this game - can't play worse second half can we ? (regardless of score)
whiston01 how do other sides in the championship deal with being up against these clubs with the money? There's more than us can't live with them financially. These are Warney's players. Keeping Jones, why? Poor transfer windows last 3 at least. 4 if you could getting Crooks. Whose to blame?
I dont buy into the idea that it has to be anybody's fault. I understand the passion and frustration but not the desire to pin blame. I am pretty ****ing sure the players, who are about the best we can assemble with the resources we have, were told to keep it tight at the start of the game. I'm equally sure they were told to mark Troy Deeney, but somebody didnt do that. I'm just as sure nobody told Wes Harding to totally miskick under zero pressure. I dont think anyone would have left Harding out of the side. What the hell can Warne and Barler do about that mistake? It's an automatic response at all clubs - if a side goes on a bad run somebody's head has to roll. I dont agree with it. I didnt think Redfearn should have been sacked when he was. I didnt even think Stubbs should have been sacked when he was. And I dont think Warne should be sacked now. I fear that it might happen because fan pressure can prompt that sort of response and Tony Stewart has form for it. I honestly dont think though that there is anybody who could and would be available who would do better in the hot seat. At the start of the season we were losing narrowly and picking a few points up. It wasnt good enough for some but I think we need to get back to doing what we were doing then. We were getting reasonable possession and wherein games. We are all over the shop at the moment.
whiston01 yes I do want to point the finger at the people that get paid to manage the club, praise them when they do well and criticise them when they do badly. You may think that they are not accountable for what happens on the field and the results but that shows someone that doesn't understand how football or professional sport works. They are the management team and should take accountability.
Them having good players is not relevant as to how we play, we may play well and lose (Brentford) but there are too many times when we look awful, the commentator is objective and he agrees that our defending has been woeful.
Four teams are currently in a worse position than us. So i suppose the answer is Struggle. One thing is certain if you think we are ever not going to struggle in this division with our set up and whoever is going to manage/coach us then you are deluded. We have to keep trying with what we have got and hope we can find some diamonds out of the dirt we are working in. Take a look at the money some of these sides have forked out and i think you might get some idea about what i am talking about. As i said earlier the best managers in the world would struggle to make any progress but more importantly they wouldn't want to try either.
What professional teams have you managed 'Derby'. I will give way if you have manged in the football league. However, all i see from you is criticism. I know f*8k all about managing and how football works. I am an oap but i do know when i see people close up who are genuine and giving there all and are worth supporting.
Derby to be honest with you I don't think you've got a clue. Almost everything I've said about current side I'm not far out. I said 1st time I saw Crooks he didn't look a player. I do change my mind about players if they change it for me. I've given my views on the rest of the rest of the side so not repeating them. You know my views on the management here.
I was a fervent PW supporter until the last fortnight. The second half v Brentford & the subsequent capitulations at Coventry & tonight coupled with the insipid 1st half displays at Swansea & QPR shows that the tactics & player management is sub standard. I still believe there is considerable talent throughout the squad but PW's insistence on playing players out of position is strangling the ability we possess. With a very heavy heart I believe Tony should change it sooner rather than later.
Decent second half effort. Thought Wiles and Vassell did well. I have to agree with Gwru, Crooks is struggling in most games. Lindsay looked a spent force and needed that half out of the game to get his levels back up for Saturday. Lacking in quality but you cannot say they didn't put the effort in . Can you?
No disgrace tonight! You really have to appreciate that we were up against a side full of talented athletes who really overshadowed us in the first half. However, we gave a good account of ourselves in the second.
Everyone needs to keep reminding themselves who we are, what resources we have and what resources the opposition have. There is no way we should realistically expect anything from games like tonight and it is inexcusable to blame anyone for our defeat.
Bold predication, we will not be relegated! Discuss!!
Woeful performance
Yes we have an injury list
I had high hopes on the performance.upto the brentford and COVENTRY DEBACLE.
I think the players are taking **** out of warne the humanist. So.much for getting players who respect this and that and other.
And to be honest i dont think we would have been promoted if the season had played out. Thats my opinion
Warme and barker have taken these players as far as they can go
Warne has made mistakes in offering players new contracts
Jones
Mattock
Keeping crookes
Wiles has now played in nearly every postion under warne.
He just needs thr goalie centre half and striker badge for the full set.
Yes warne was furious on touchline but something is wrong .
To me he has lost the dressing room
It was a better performance in the 2nd half trouble is after the 1st fifteen minutes game was over. Crooks why did nothing again Saturday's game must win only comfort owls lost by the same score.
whiston so if we havent managed a football league club our opinions are wrong and don't matter? so that means your opinion and everyone else on here also doesn't matter, think about what you are saying, that makes no sense at all. I genuinely do not believe that this coaching staff are getting the best out of the players, it is an opinion, you may not agree and that is fine because that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I give credit where it is deserved (see below) and previous posts after games where we have performed, I am not a Vassell fan but he did ok tonight he tried, had a good effort and wanted to play, so well done to him.
gwru, I wont respond to you as you are just a troll
Second half was much better, showed some fight and we started to close down in the last third, credit to smith and vassell for that at least. Smith wasted the chance when we were 3 against 2 never looked up we had two unmarked players to pass to, that was very annoying and his free header and follow on chance shows why he is not a championship level player.
Zero effort or desire to try and compete first half, we had a bit of a go and actually ran around second half but that’s not enough to get results at any level of football.
Don’t care about the opposition we know they are a good team with more money than us but that doesn’t stop us from trying to compete.
Here is my two penny worth. We all have players we rate and some have players we hate. All in all, I dont think there is much to choose between our various players in different positions. I think we have the squad that our money gets us. Good enough to get up but probably not good enough to stay up. We all have a formation we think is best but games are won by bits of skill or mistakes from players, not syatems. Whatever system we played tonight had no bearing on their goals which were down to two pieces of rank bad defending from individuals. The Chairman does his best, the coaching staff do their best, and the players never give less than their best. Unfortunately our collective best equates to one the three or four worst in this division. It's tough to take but that is how it is. We make mistakes defensively that cost us goals. We huff and puff in attack but havent quite got the quality to unlock teams. We have some decent players in midfield but they are not quite as gifted as the ones they are up against. I find that all frustrating because I dont know how to change it. In fact I dont think we can which is even harder to take. I think we have to carry on doing our best. If it isnt good enough I will be extremely frustrated about it, but not angry. Changing the manager isnt going to change the realities of life for us in the Championship but it will take us back to square one.
Derby I'm no troll. I say it how it is. You only come on here when we are losing. Nothing to say about the game tonight. No point rubbing salt into the wounds.
I take no comfort whatsoever in our "improved" second half performance we couldn't have been any worse. PW & the management team are woefully inadequate & need to go. His tactics beggar belief at times, I'm sick to death of his damage limitation away game tactics, I'm sick to death of words like Spirited, Plucky & Battling which are regularly used by our own media team. I'm sick to death of the team "having a go" after a game has already been lost.
I have already written off this season & look forward to playing in a division in which we can actually compete without the financial handcuffs on.
