I think it's fair to say that we talk about how much quality we have got in attack, and how other teams have highly paid forward players etc. One thing I would add to that is that good teams at this level also have good defenders and are very well organised. Stoke didnt mind getting people behind the ball today and although we need more quality, they also deserve credit for defending very well. The same was true of Reading. Getting the first goal is going to be very important for us as it is for most teams, because when the onus is on us to break down these defences it is going to be tough for us.

Shame we couldn't pinch a point, and our striker options continues to worry me.

BUT... this is a much more open League than for a few years I'd suggest, based on results so far.

Barnsley looked doomed but now are in mid table. Owls look like they were easily going to climb off the bottom, but now lose 4 on the trot. Reading, in my opinion, are in a false position and will soon plummet..

All in all, I'm VERY optimistic we have enough to stay up - January (ok. it's a bit early..) we need at least one new striker, everywhere else we look sound...

UTM...

No real complaints about today. The conditions weren't brilliant and contributed to their goal. I thought Barlaser had a superb game. We have to be realistic - we haven't got the quality of the majority of Championship sides but we have other assets such as team spirit, a great work ethic and a great manager. Once again, we weren't overrun by a team with greater quality on paper.

The wingers are going to be the major contribution to our goal threat this season. Both Miller and Flo Jo have got the ability to take on defenders. Our major problem is who is going to receive their supply and convert it into goals. I hate being critical, but Lapado and Hirst's first touch are appalling. Smith's is sublime but today he was a liability by over-enthusiastically competing for the ball and giving away frustrating fouls. Crooks put his first pass awry, but then contributed positively - one particularly one-eyed contributor needs to open his rather myopic eyes!

Things could be a lot worse, we could (like Tootie and Flootie) be Wednesday fans!

Poor game. Not impressed by either side.

I think we can say that two up front just will not work considering the quality of our forwards. Im not sure their central defenders broke sweat. Playing MacDonald and Barlaser for me does not work, we need the energy of Wiles and Lindsay in there.

Question. When is kick on the goalkeeper not a kick?

Strange one that. A blatant and deliberate kick out. I hate to say this, but I suspect most keepers in this league would have screamed in agony and several players would have surrounded the ref in a heartbeat. As it was it was just laughed off.

So I buy season tickets for Roth U, do Millers mayday & pay to watch us on I follow but I'm a Wednesday fan! You having a laugh. Warney he's either as I've said trying not to rock the boat trying to keep his Warney boys happy or he's tactically inept or both. Today we weren't at the races apart from Miller in the 1st half. Mattock looked slow. Flo not strong enough & Ladspo terrible then what's manager do bring Crooks on who offered nothing. Can't get my head round that.

I agree with Derby about Smith. It's tough to knock him because he never gives less than his best, but you can see the fouls coming and you feel like shouting all the time 'dont foul, dont foul' but he does. Better to try and win a second ball in their half than give them an easy out with a free kick. Funnily enough I thought Freddie did ok as a lone striker and didnt look as good when he was joined by a partner. I accept Hirst (a) is inexperienced and (2) might need game time, but so far I'm not sure what he brings. I'm not sending him back to Leicester yet, though.

You might put money into the club through a season ticket and the mayday, but your 'support' is worthless. You aren't worth anything to Rotherham United and for the sake of losing a few hundred quid a year, it'd be better off without you.

I see you're still peddling the Warney Boy b*llocks, something that only actually exists in your addled brain.

As for today, poor game, never threatened their goal, but never really looked in much danger either against a side who will probably do alright this season, got done by an easily avoidable long ball over the top. It happens, move on to the next game.

As has been pointed out, we won more games than anyone in our division last season and you still did nothing but moan.

He couldn't take victory over our local big city rivals during the week. It's debatable which ha**** him the hardest.

Imagine being such a fan of Rotherhm United that you've managed to talk yourself into a situation where you have to be overjoyed when Rotherham lose and gutted when they win. What a sad way to live your life.

TH Owl - give us a clue. What did you really mean to say? Read back what you wrote, try and understand why us mere mortals haven't got a clue what you're talking about, and do us a favour by reiterating your points in a comprehendible manner. If needs be, just list key the points and we'll all be far better informed.

What about his record in the Championship not a pretty sight. Here is a question for the know all's when was the last time he won two matches on the spin in this league.

He never has, but then you knew that or else you wouldn't have asked. Steve Evans only managed it once in his last two games before he jumped ship, despite being able to bring in a new loan signing every other week. Just shows how difficult it is with our budget.

We have two home games coming up in my humble opinion they are the type of matches we should have a chance of winning. I can see us struggling to stop up if we don't start winning those type of games.

You're wasting your time Glenn, I've already given him a link to handy guide about punctuation but he has no interest in bettering himself. He enjoys his role as the village idiot too much.

Insightful, well-written, humorous and well-informed - all things that posts from THMiller never are. It is very predictable that he would jog quickly on from a good win and give the manager a new target. If we lose he will be judged a failure. If we win it will be the games after that which count. Pathetic.

A question for TH. When was the last time Warney lost five games in a row in League One without his team scoring a single goal in any of them?
