THMiller put a post up last night under a new topic and said in it that he ought to apologise to Woody for suggesting he didnt have a full game in him.
As the post seems to have been deleted for some reason, maybe he has thought better of it.
I am sure that Woody doesn't lie awake at night worrying about what THMiller thinks about him. But if we are in the mood for apologies though, perhaps TH could log back on as gwru and apologise to Blackman for suggesting after one appearance that he should be sent back to his parent club. And to Wes Harding for writing him off after one game. And while he is about it to Michael Ihiekwe, Matt Olosunde, Dan Barlaser, Shaun MacDonald, Michael Smith and countless others who he has consigned to the scrap heap in short order only to be proved wrong.
The effort our players put in every week is incredible. They are also getting better at keeping the ball. We had an even share of possession last night. What we dont quite have yet is the cutting edge that other teams have. Forest, like Huddersfield and Norwich, were very clever at moving us around, probing and finding overloads to get in behind us. Forests right back Christie was in my opinion the best player on the pitch (although he conceded the penalty). I thought the substitutions were an attempt to try and nullify his threat, but at the end of the day you have to give the opposition credit sometimes. He was very good and worked his way into good positions, and you only have to knock off and lose a runner once and the chances are you will get punished for it. Stopping that happening for 90 minutes is a tough task.
Nothing to apologise for they played well that's what they get paid for. Good result proved the sky experts wrong Forrest fan on twitter calling us agricultural manager moaning because he did not get his easy win. What's not to like.
No doubt about it our team put a lot of effort in and as Smiler said we are getting better at keeping the ball. What i don't feel we are very good at ,is when we have the ball we are not creating much. We are not alone in this. I pointed out in an earlier post that the championship is producing very few goals. Last night there was seven games but they only produced ten goals. Take a look at the league table and it shows eleven teams who score less than one goal a game. It also shows another four or five i think who have only scored one goal per game. Sides like Watford have played five and only scored three times, Derby played six and only scored two, Forest played six and only scored three. The list goes on.
I still believe we have to set up to be difficult to beat and with that you lose the attacking element of the game. Playing Lindsay (who imo is not championship class yet) and Wiles out wide right takes away the attacking flair. I know we have lost our go to attacker in Ogbene and we have the squad now to do something different. However, we don't seem able to move the ball around quickly enough and as Smiler said we do not have that cutting edge. I still believe it will be difficult for us to stay up, but when i look at the league there are more championship sides who do not have the attacking flair this time around. I think Wycombe, Barnsley, Birmingham, Coventry, Derby,Luton and Wednesday will all be in the mix this time.
Get Lamy back we haven't got a winger with Ogbene out. How's Crooks keep getting in the side? Blackman Harding Icky Barlaser pick of our players last night.
I'm beginning to think gwru is actually one of those Russian Bots. All his posts are just constant repetitions of a few catchphrases in poorly constructed English, repeated several times a day, everyday across various message boards. It would explain a lot.
No apology from gwru. What a surprise. We will probably never know why THMiller deleted his. Peculiar. I agree wholeheartedly with everything Whiston has said. Lindsay put a real shift in and that is important and I am not knocking him but he is neither a creator nor a goalscorer. Our strikers are not players with real pace or bags of tricks. We will always be a threat from set pieces, but if we are going to create from open play we need a bit more than we showed last night. Ogbene had the x factor and he is a big miss. Miller is doing alright and has shown promise without end product. He is a work in progress. Clearly the management team hope that Flo will give us something extra. The Norwich match was not one to judge him on - I am not sure he had a kick in their half because we went down to ten men as soon as he came on. He will need a little bit of time to settle and get up to speed, but hopefully he can add a bit more pace, guile and cutting edge. Belief and confidence will also help, so the fact that we came away with something from the game is also crucial. Onwards and upwards.
Great point last night though the last 20 minutes were hard to watch.
We certainly can’t say we had no luck this time, this probably balanced out the point we should have had Saturday.
Blackman was excellent, hato believe its the same guy who looked like a rabbit in the headlights at Salford, must have been a confidence thing.
Harding continues to improve.
Woody was, well, Woody and Jones had a couple of great moments to make up for his Birmingham error.
Miller continues to work hard and improve and Freddy really impressed me, think thats the first time i’ve thought he played well in a game he didn’t score in.
I have a complaint about Lindsay though...
Theres a small patch of pitch near one corner that he didn’t cover in the first half ! Boy is that lad fit. But as Smiler says he’s not creative, but i do think he helped us defend on the edge of their box rather than ours.
This underlies the problem we have in balancing workhorses with flair and we’re a bit on the over cautious side at the minute, hopefully just a case of building from the back and we’ll get braver as confidence builds
I do think with 4-5-1 i would prefer both wide men to be wingers with Wiles competing/rotating with the central 3. If we’re going to score more than 1 then we need the wide men to be supporting the striker and i think we may have the right people to do it this time around when they can have a minute off from supporting the defence.
Good to be 3 unbeaten on the road, a tough game to come on Saturday. If we were top, we’d probably slip up to “teams like Rotherham” so you never know...
Regarding the comments about Lindsay, I assume he played last night to give MacDonald a break. There's no mistaking his energy and enthusiasm but he does lack MacDonald's close control and aerial ability. I assume MacDonald will start on Saturday and I'd like to also see Miller and Jozefzoon in the starting line-up. If we can get Barlaser to bring the wingers into the game, it might be our best way of stopping the ball coming straight back at us after long, high clearances.
I think that is where we are Glenn. We have strength in depth in most positions. Is Harding better than Olosunde? Is Lindsay better than MacDonald? Which of Crooks/Wiles/Sadlier is the best bet as an advanced midfielder? Is Robertson better than Angus MacDonald? Ladapo vs Smith vs Hirst. Etc etc. Rhetorical questions but I hope they help illustrate the point. We might have our own preferences but on the whole we can move players in and out without too much if any dip on overall performance levels. By the way, someone who knows more than me about them much admires your Taylor guitar. He says it's a beauty.
I think Harding is one of our better signings. Improving every game and has all the attributes of Emmanuel (was that his name) who we had on loan from Ipswich. Good to see Olosunde back in action last night - he's a versatile player who PW will utilise to fill many positions this season. Rotation of players is going to be key and, if we avoid a major injury crisis, we have good depth in most positions which will allow us to maintain a good standard, whatever team is put out.
Regarding the Taylor - it's a beauty. Pity it has the same name as a rather sub-standard ex winger!!
Some of you are getting a bit giddy we did ok we did ride our luck. I noticed Sadlier was put on near the end which I said should have happened against Norwich great minds think a like.
I dont think anyone is getting carried away. All I have seen is people using terms like 'competing' and 'encouraging'. I think all the so-called Warney Boys (aka proper supporters) understand that we have still got quite a large mountain to climb. As for riding our luck, I think everyone has acknowledged that as well, but perhaps it made up for the Norwich game where we were very unfortunate not to get at least a point. That illustrates how stupid your 'results business' mantra is when you use it on a match by match basis. You were critical on Saturday because we lost and relatively happy on Tuesday because we didnt, but in a parallel universe a couple of very small things could have happened differently to change the course of each game and with virtually identical performances we could have beaten Norwich and lost at Forest. They are fone margins. I honestly think that in the short term most supporters are intelligent enough to look behind the scoreline and attach some weight to effort and performance levels. Have a good day.

Exactly smiler, Other's may disagree but for me our worst performance of the season so far was the win at Wycombe on day one. It's not as black and white as WIN = GOOD, LOSE = BAD, although I respect that it probably takes more than one brain cell to work that out.
You don't have to be a Warney boy to be a proper fan. I'm a proper fan of the club. It's going to be a tough old battle to keep out of the bottom 3 cause we haven't got much going forward but I'm impressed now with Harding & of course Barlaser he's quality. Lindsay gives us some bite in midfield. All is not lost. UTM
