I get your thinking but I personally can't see Warne playing without any of our full backs, probably a bit suicidal for us in the championship. I think if he was to go with a back three he'd still play the likes of Harding and Mattock as wing backs.

I think the team will be pretty similar to last week apart from up front, where I'd expect a change or two, but who he picks there is anyone's guess.

Personal opinion based on what I have seen so far this season and the previous season.

My view we can only compete and get the best out of players at this level by playing 4231.

with that in mind my team selection would be.

Blackman

Harding Iheckwe Macdonald Mattock

Macdonald Lindsay

Ogbene Crookes Wiles

Smith

Would find it difficult to find a place for Ladapo (not good enough at this level). Strange decision considering the goals he scored last season but for me he does not contribute enough.

Sadlier has not shown anything at the moment.

Miller not seen him so cannot comment.

Wood unlucky because we are more dangerous from set pieces when he plays.

Robertson never fit

Clarke never seen

Olosunde best fullback but not fit at the moment

Hirst not seen

Vassell been here 2 full seasons but I still don’t know what he really offers. Another player with injury problems

Jones good player never fit

So we have to make the best of what we have got which means finding a system which allows you to play your best players.

I know people will be critical but that is what these formats are about. My opinion is based on years of plying at a high level, coaching and scouting but is of no  more importance than yours.

Adding to the last post. I don't see Price Jones Wood Clarke Crooks Ladapo Vassell as championship players. Work from that that's a start. Going to be a hard game today. Side I've selected think S McDonald would be of more use than Miller.

Excellent post from' Iwasatvilla'. Agree with just about all of it. Well thought out and strong on fact imo.

I was critical of S McDonald before the season started and stated he was gone. Unlike Gwru who cannot come round to putting our best performer this season in his team, i am prepared, and would welcome to be proved wrong. I just hope he can stay fit, which is still a worry. One of his major problems last year was he had a severe virus which knocked him for six for a long time.

i also would play 4:2:3:1. for all the reasons stated by 'Villa'. I would give Sadlier the wide left role as i know he did well in that position with Donny and can also take over from Crooks if he is not cutting it. Up top is still a bit of a worry and i feel we have to give Hirst that role to see if he is any better than Smith. Again, if he is struggling with being the lone striker, we could bring on Smith. we still have loads of options on the bench to change things around.

i really hope this is the start of a good debate and hope the talents of the top posters on here are not dragged into the rubbish we have witnessed recently.

I would have no problem with Villa's line up. The only issue is that I don't think we'd threaten their goal much at all. At this stage of the season, I like to see us attempting more aggressive tactics away from home rather than going in search of a point - particularly against a side of dubious quality such as Birmingham. Accordingly, I'd start with Hirst in place of Wiles, playing him behind or just off Smith. I realise this wouldn't give us any width on the left and cuts down creativity in midfield. However, Hirst appears to be very mobile and, if Crooks is on his game, along with Smith they could give the Brum defence a lot to think about. Thankfully our defence picks itself, S MacDonald has been sensational so far and Lindsay always contributes energy to the midfield. Until we get Barlaser back, or another creative midfielder, we going to have to try a variety of line ups to find what works best. PW has good depth on the bench to change things if needed. Whatever team he selects, I hope we can take the game to Birmingham and put the unfortunate defeat to Millwall behind us.

whiston01 I agree S McDonald been one of our better players so far this season it's just with him it's keeping clear of injuries. Lindsay now he's getting match sharp just think he's the better option. I've revised my team. Just think Sadlier would be better playing the no. 10 role behind Hirst up front. Miller on the left. S McDonald for Wiles.

If I am allowed to use players I have not seen and using my knowledge and intuition I would actually go for.

Blackman

Wiles Macdonald Wood Mattock or Olosunde

Iheckwe Macdonald

Lindsay Crooks Sadlier or Miller

Ogbene

Wiles will play in the Premier League as a fullback

Iheckwe has the skill and the vision to play in front of the back four

Ogbene‘s speed is wasted on the wing get him running the channels in in amongst the slow big boys.

I am certain that some of you will disagree and also think it’s crackers. My managerial experience could be inspirational or short lived

Old pals act again. Jones Wiles Crooks in. Miller in for Sadlier. Not expecting anything.

Got to be injured, played too well in the first couple of games to be dropped from the squad.

Same old **** from Warney. Why isn't there another left back in. It's like we've been relegated to league 2 playing Jones.

You will love it if we get beaten today, won't you?

I was abit hasty. We've played well enough. Jones he's done nothing wrong. Miller doing enough wide left. Just if we want to win the game might have to get Sadlier on in place of Crooks.
