It went for us Saturday. I watched all the game they should have been leading at half time. But we got a corner right & a welcome 3pts on the board. Still need that midfielder & big forward. I'd like them in for the Millwall game.
Our great leader is looking to sign a midfield player a big lad upfront and possible cover at left back. Ok for anyone else to say that what is good for the goose is good for the gander🦆.
i was going to wait for 5 or 6 games before offering opinions on players formation and warnes tactical approach but again he goes for the 1 up front formation and using ladapo who is and never will be a target man.
we keeping playing that formation against other sides it will be i hate to say history repeating itself we cant score and will concede

I agree hillsborough... no point in playing Ladapo as lone stiker - he needs it in front of him as he showed in his best games last year. He must get frustrated when Smith is not alongside him and he's asked to play with his back to goal.. I think we MUST play two up front if Ladapo is in our team, and for me he's our best chance of goals.
Unless of course he thought Crooks was going to be the target man - but that's not his game either, he's better from the middle running forward.
I thought our formation was very strange up front, seemed to be set up to allow McDonald and Lidnsey to play in the middle but not drop Crooks...
I don't think that worked at all, but hopefully Warney saw what we saw too...
I thought though Lindsey had a good game (best one in a Millers shirt actually), and Vassell looked sharp when he came on.
Main thing is - we won!
I want us to get at Millwall on Saturday - and definitely start with two up front (not Crooks, back to middle for him in place of McDonald and ask him to bomb forward when we are in their last 3rd, as the third striker)
4-4-2 for me... use our wingers, press and get on the front foot... we have more quality than last time we were in the Championship, I want to see us play... at home anyway.
Just my thoughts but in the end I don't care how we win as long as we do... (enough times to stay up)
Hopefully we have the new forward here for Millwall game who can play on his own up front. I liked idea of 2 midfield players sitting with 1 behind the lone striker but Crooks not good enough in this league. I'd like Sadlier in that role with Miller the wide left player. I know I've said this before but most on here it won't register.

What we need and what we are on the way to having is a squad with some depth and options. The games will come thick and fast, players will get injuries and suspensions, and different opposition will require different formations. Hillsborough wants 442. Gwru wants 451. That shows that you can't please everybody. Some don't rate Vassell at all but others want him in. And so on. I think the truth is that the formation will change from game to game and even within games, and there isn't likely to be a 'best eleven' but instead a best available eleven on a game by game basis. Of course we will all have our opinions on who should be in it, but as we know in the end there is only one opinion that counts - gwru's.
To be fair to Warney the starting eleven on Saturday pretty much matched the opposition up and nullified them, (after an early scare) and we grew stronger as the game went on. The substitutions were positive, the substitutes all had an impact, and we won. If you were inclined to be generous to the manager you could say he got it about right.
I don't do podcasts. Hands on my approach. I'm watching away games now on I follow so I don't need nobody to tell me what works for Roth U. In the championship we can't play 4-4-2, you have to play narrow for that, tuck in. Full backs & wingers working together. Ogbene he's an out & out winger so don't lose that. 4-4-1-1 way to go. I've said how I want that to work. If we can get these 2 signings Barlaser & a big forward I'm more confident we won't be struggling all season.
I think Gwru is talking some sense here. The last time we were in the championship i felt we needed to play a 4:2:3:1 formation particularly away from home. If the system is not working we have options like smiler said to change things.
Barlaser as i said before would be a major signing for us. He could play in a two holding midfield or as a single holding midfielder in a 4:1:3:2 formation or a 4:1:4:1 set up. Without him it looks like McDonald and Lindsay will keep the job. If we play my preferred set up 4:2:3:1 it needs the full backs to press high up when we have not got the ball. Mattock can certainly do this if fit, Olosunde is learning the job and i have not seen enough of Harding but he has said that is his best style of full back. In a set up like this you are open to quick breaking forwards, so Ihiekwe would have to read the game well and use his pace to foil the raids. Robertson and Woods lack of pace would be a worry.
We have players who can hurt sides if they get the time to deliver. Ogbene, Sadlier,Wiles, Crooks and hopefully Miller have the ability to create and make something out of nothing. They will all have to contribute in the scoring department because if we do play one up top and it is Smith he will not be prolific if his past record is anything to go on. Warne knows this and is looking to sign a striker. He also knows they don't come cheap and has said it is strikers who can demand most money. I doubt if we will splash the sort of cash required to get and pay the wages they demand.Let us hope we get a new striker over the line,it could be the difference between staying up and going down. A season to look forward to and a real battle ahead.
I think he means that he isn't interested what anybody else thinks or does. There is nothing anybody can teach him. He knows best based on his magic eye alone. He knows what he likes and he likes what he bloody well knows.
