I'd have liked to see Woody in back line, as this is like a league 1 game, and Wiles for Mcdonald... but don't care as long as we get something..

also, winning set pieces but I'd argue Woody and Smith, are our best two headers of the ball... so not connecting with our crosses so far...

Yeah, can't argue with that.. early days though

Without wanting to jinx him, Blackman has looked ok so far, so hopefully salford was a one-off..

We've had enough set plays to have at least made their keeper do some work, but none on target.. apart from Sadlier's free kick

On 2nd H deserved win. 1st H they had 2 good chances. Blackman alot better. Mattock also. Lindsay did well. Don't know why he brought Wiles & Vassell on & Olosunde wasn't on the bench for Jones. We don't look a threat up front. Still need that big forward, central midfielder. Cover at left back. But a welcome win against a side we would have targeted a win against.

Olosunde not fit to play. The longer the game went on the stronger we got. A deserved win. The fussy ref didnt help the game. Lots of room for improvement but great to win a Championship away game straight away.

Happy New Season Banterers! Unfortunately, ifollow does not work on my massive 7mbps download speed and I hate listening to audio commentary. So had to wait for the final whistle before looking at the result. Excellent start!!

Can we now ask Boris to lock down for the rest of the season as we're currently in a promotion place? Imagine the wails of anguish from Peterborough if we went into the Premier League on a ppg basis!!

Oh, and 15 points clear of the Owls!

Great to get our 1st win of the season very scrappy game. They shaded it in the 1st half did our goalkeeper get a touch to that effort of their's that hit the crossbar he was a big improvement on last week. Lindsay and Mattock had decent games hope it is a confidence booster.

I agree it's the 3pts gained that matters but I want us to deserve undoubtly to win games starting with Millwall. Olosunde for Harding. Sounds like Robertson he's injured so A McDonald for him with Cooper on the bench. Central midfielder brought in for S McDonald. Miller on the left with Sadlier in Crooks place. New big forward up front.

He didn't do a great deal today but can I just say, you're going to call for Crooks to be dropped after every game this season regardless of performance aren't you?

Sadlier isn't a left winger, would be more of a threat in role Crooks played today.

on the whole, agree with most comments by all posters, just saying...GWRU and TH some decent points to make, not just wind-ups (keep it up boys!)

but in the end all we want is a Millers good season...

Plenty to work on, but a win... great start.

I like Wycombe and wish them well.... (As long as they finish 3 places below us, lol)

Gwru famously said you can't change a winning team. He will always have players he can't see any good in. Never forget that gwru declared that Ihiekwe should never wear a Millers shirt again after a nerve filled performance at S****horpe in the playoffs two years ago. Olosunde wasn't fit for selection today and may not be ready for next week. In the end I thought Harding did alright in the second half after a shaky start. I also thought McDonald played quite well. I am not anti-Lindsay at all but I thought if anything McDonald was the better of the two in central midfield. They both battled away. McDonald looks very fit. He chased back on a long recovery run with one of their forwards with ten minutes or so to go and matched him stride for stride, which I don't think would have happened at any time last season. Smith made a real impact when he came on after being poor last week. All in all it has to go down as a battling, hard fought win in a scrappy encounter. I don't think the ref helped. He was even handed but very whistle happy, giving some baffling free kicks for very minor contact which disrupted any flow in the game.

Gwru would make five changes to a winning team (one enforced if Robertson is out). Today it looked like two decent division one teams playing in the championship and i will be amazed if both are not in a relegation battle. Very little quality on the pitch and very few chances created. We got a good three points against a side who relied heavily on home form last season. Played 18 won 13 drew 3 and lost 2 last season.

I thought Mattock and Ihiekwe were very good today. McDonald who i have said recently was gone, might make me eat my words . As Smiler said he looked fit and battled away well in the midfield. Lindsay has a long way to go to make a championship player imo but is another who battles. Crooks looked off today but i certainly wouldn't replace him not just yet. Gwru says Sadlier is not a left winger. i will trust his magic eye on that. One thing i do believe, he is a good signing. Smith improved us when he came on, but i think we have a problem up top. Ladapo is purely and simply a poacher. He doesn't seem to control the ball well in open play and cannot hold it up. His best games are when he comes off the bench and i believe Vassell can only be used in that role as well.

As for the next game. If Robertson is out, it gives us a problem because he is left footed. i believe Angus McDonald is right footed and Cooper is nowhere near ready to come in, either in the team or on the bench. That leaves one man who has missed most starts to a new season but cometh the hour cometh the man. Obvious replacement Richard Wood. Gwru believes in playing people in their correct positions. Funny how he dismisses Woody who has never let us down, yet believes a youngster like Cooper should be higher up the pecking order now. His time will come but not now.

My faith is in Warne and his team. One or two on here want to get shut. Replace him with Parkinson and no jacket required at Portsmouth would have done the job. Now then what division are they in? and how did they get on today?. Warneys team won 1-0 away in the championship. Get shut of him we should be murdering sides like Wycombe. Aye ok.

Last season Lindsay did not impress me but these two opening games he has been one of our better players gwru knows his football. That was a one off game we played a certain way to suit the opposition. Good to see us playing further up the pitch especially in the 2nd half we need more of that this season don't be scared of the opposition.
