I'm not sure you understand how the virus works THMiller. The threat to the health of under 40s from this virus is indeed low, but that doesn't mean they dont need to be careful. The risk posed by under 40s having the virus is not to them. It is to older and vulnerable people with whom they come into contact, or with whom the people who they come into contact come into contact. Just like the risk of opening schools is not to the children, but to the parents and grandparents of those children, and to the school staff and their families etc. Remember that not very long ago we had no cases. This virus can spread like wildfire. It did before and unless we are careful until we have a vaccine it could again. You are right about players needing match fitness, although one of the Arsenal players got a contact injury that wasnt anything to do with match fitness- it was just one of those things that can happen any time. If you had watched the 'waste of time' Q&A session you would have seen the coaching staff and in particular the Assistant Manager talking about how we might deal with these issues.
Price Bilboe Jones Lamy out of contract. Jones he's got to go. If Bilboe's good enough keep him not Price. Lamy he's got to be worth taking the option of extending his contract.
When beaches are packed and parks families take their kids no social distancing a rave last week over 6,000 there plus fighting in the streets. It is not me that is doing it nearly all are under 40 the genie is already out of the bottle seems to be ok to do that if this virus has a 2nd wave we know who to blame.

This isn't the thread for a discussion about management of the virus generally, but for what it is worth there is obviously a proportion of the population who think that for them the crisis is over and that the rules do not apply. That is up to them. That doesn't mean that RUFC can just go back to business as usual right away. The club has to do the right things.
Back onto the thread.
We have a number of things to think about. We don't know when the new season will begin. We don't know when to begin serious training or what a training programme aimed at arriving at peak fitness at the right time might look like. There will also be a massive logisitical exercise and no small amount of cost associated with setting up a safe environment in which the players can train accompanied by a testing regime.
As I mentioned, some of this together with an idea of what our ideal squad size might be given that there are likely to be more midweek games in a compacted season and also when might be optimum time to be active in the transfer window this summer was covered in the 'waste of time' Q&A session.

What I saw last night teams where no where near match fit for obvious reasons which we have been told by the experts will lead to a lot of injuries. I want the millers to avoid that situation that means playing proper friendlies behind closed doors. If it doesn't happen it will make the first few games even harder.
It is not a moan listening to the experts last night with the social distance measures the teams had adhere to normal training was impossible. Arsenal an easy example I don't want the millers to go down the same route we have to watch and learn all team's are in uncharted territory.
For us it is no different to a normal pre-season, it is just that we dont yet know when the season will start. I dont see the problem. On transfers, Richie Barker suggested that with the number of players looking for a deal likely to be very high, and with the PL and Championship seasons ending much later than usual, the best transfer business might get done later rather than sooner.
"RotherhamUnited will offer winger Mikel Miller a 2 year deal when teams can formally approach free agents in 2 days time, its then up to the player and his agent"
Hope not we want a few players who can hack it in the championship. Vaulks was a great signing by Stubbs don't know how we managed that one. Lindsey wasn't good enough for div1 will this player be any better.
Lindsay I rate. Build midfield round him not Crooks. Mikel Miller? I smell a rat! Not going on u tube scoring from distance. I want to know what he can do wide left, we need someone who'll battle.
Very harsh to say Lindsay wasn't good enough for div 1 imo T.H. He had personal problems last season and i felt when he played he did quite well in his first season for us. I remember watching Will Vaulks in the reserves for us at Parkgate after a sticky period in his first season. He quickly got back into the first team and thrived. Vaulks struggled at Cardiff at first but now is showing what he can do. It is not easy to hit the ground running at a new club. Gwru has got that magic eye going again when he says he would build his midfield around Lindsay. He has to show a bit more before you do that.
Mikel Miller is an unknown but i trust our team to have done their homework if we are going for him. Why smell a rat Gwru ? How do you know he is not the battler you are after ?
whiston01 I've watched 2 clips of Miller on u tube. Got a good left foot scored on both occasions. Don't think he scores that many. Standard of football in Scotland is questionable. Way my minds working if he was that good would we get him? Clubs bigger than us will have seen him. We wouldn't have a chance of signing him if he looked a decent level championship player.
