When you like a player they usually turn out to be sh*te, so God help him.

On your own account you have seen him play for seven minutes on telly, and given your track record that 'I like the look of him' counts for very little.

We have signed youngsters with bright futures before and expected too much too soon and it hasn't worked out.  I am thinking of John Swift and Dael Fry as examples.  As far as I know George Hirst hasn't played a single league game in this country.  If he is joining us I hope he does really well, but he might need time to settle in and a bit of patience might be needed.

Best transfer news of the day - Paul Warne has signed a new 3 year contract and there are also new deals for Richie and Hammy. All we need now is for Barlaser to have a stinker for Newcastle against Blackburn tonight, and for Bruce to release him to us on a permanent deal. Hirst would give us a few more options up front but he's very light on experience although Brendan Rogers feels he has potential. We can only hope. Anyway, great cause to celebrate - the best manager we have had for years has pinned his colours to the Rotherham mast! Well done Paul and TS!!

If Hirst has a rubbish first game on Saturday will you say he was brilliant regardless or will you call for him to be sent back?

We can't afford tried and tested Championship players at the peak of their powers. We have to take the odd gamble on either a player slightly past his best, an upcoming talent we can improve or (as in this case) a talented novice. This is a bit of a gamble, but it gives us another option and it might pay off. Let's hope so. We cant expect the lad to ride into town and be the answer to our prayers on day one though. He clearly isnt the finished article yet or he wouldn't be with us. He might need time and perhaps a bit of patience. Good luck to him.

Hey there Georgie boy I already have a song for you. This is a brilliant signing for the club we have seen very promising young players go on loan to championship clubs about time we had a slice of that gravy. What gamble every signing is one just enjoy him while he is here. Big thanks again to Tony Stewart no doubt that he has put his hand in his pocket for this one. I am doing my best to repay him by watching the millers on iFollow hope to get a season ticket soon. Got to have a flu jab at 2.30pm on Saturday I will get back to watch the game UTM.

Sport/Roth U related thought what this is not an English lesson! I want to see George Hirst play for us. Can't say that about all our players. Tell me different then I'll bring my school books with me!

'Sport/Roth U related thought what this is not an English lesson!'  Just look at that for a sentence!

Maybe we wouldn't ridicule your opinions as much if we could actually understand what you were saying?

Back to Roth U. Would you start Hirst this Saturday? There's a case to. We haven't looked much of threat up front in two games so far.
