I reckon Warney will want the majority of his squad in place before training restarts
Manchester City goalkeeper Arijanet Muric on loan is latest rumour, didn't have a good spell at Forest but we've done well with last two goalie loans so hopefully good if he comes.
Smeets rumour still seems hot as TH and C noted.
Looking fwd to getting some in... left back next please, then striker back-up...
Plenty of romours I will be very surprised if anything happens until August the Smeets transfer could be a good signing if it comes off. When are season tickets going on sale I can't wait to get mine.
Ex Lincoln number one Josh Vickers training with us.
Warne says no plan to sign him but wouldn’t take that as gospel. Not sure we’d have one of the better keepers from league one being covid tested each week at our expense just using it as a fitness exercise.
His name has cropped up a few times does give us time to have a proper look at him. As you say has to be tested I would prefer a signing for the goal keeper can't keep relying on loans all of the time.
Callum McFadzean, decent LB has left Argyle & is a free agent. Double promotion winner in the last two seasons with Argyle & Bury & a local lad. DEFINITELY worth having a look at.
Linked with left-back Lee Brown from Portsmouth, I guess that would not happen if we signed Greg Leigh and might be just to get Posh's re-signing deal up.
Adelakun being mentioned too... just my opnion but I didn't rate him based on what I saw.... so I hope that one doesn't go ahead.
Swindon and Carlisle are rumoured to be interested in getting Kayode on loan for a season. When are we going to start playing some of our young players our manager only ever gives them a first team chance when we put a scratch team out. He said in his last interview he wants another forward does it make any sense to loan a promising young talent out.
Vassell would be the striker to leave if Warney looked at it with an open mind. Hope we've got some championship quality signings lined up. Giving Jones & Price contracts that's not.
Not sure what you mean by looking at it with an open mind Gwru. There is no doubt in my mind that Kayode would benefit from a spell out on loan, preferably with a division one club. He has only played in five league games in division two, admittedly he did well scoring in three of them for Carlisle. I think for his development a spell out on loan and playing, instead of being on the bench in the championship would be more beneficial for him.
Vassell struggled to make an impact for us in the championship. However,in his defence he was asked to play wide left and although he battled well it didn't suit his style of play. Not sure he is a championship level player but coming on later in games, his pace might get us a few points. Fringe player imo.
I tend to agree about Price and Jones. Price is ok as reserve goalkeeper but i doubt him being a championship Goalie. We have let Bilboe go so we are very thin on the ground. Jones is a very steady defensive right back and has had a lot of experience at this level. The big problem is his fitness over several years. For me i would have let him go as you cannot rely on him being on the pitch.
Got to be honest, Jones is probably very fortunate to get another contract based on his injury record. When he has been available he's not done too bad.
With Lewis Price, we wont want to take up some of the budget that is needed elsewhere by paying to bring in another keeper just to sit on the bench.
Kayode has gone for a season long loan to Carlisle is that the last we will see of him. With our managers track record probably so it could come back to haunt him if we are short of goals next season. Not been a good week so far with Price and Jones signing again give us something to cheer.
Kayode he's not a kid but unlike other sides he won't get a chance under Warney. See final squad we end up with but going to need cover up to championship level. Still say Kayode would have been a better option to keep rather than Vassell. We can't play 2 up front would get overrun in midfield. Need a big lone striker up front, good enough for the championship.
