Post your thoughts or rumours & transfer news here....

What do you think we need. It doesn't look like we'll keep Barlaser sadly as Newcastle fancy giving him a 1st team stint, but good for him, he's a good lad & good prospect.

I think our squad is stronger than last time we went up, so I hope we can add a few good uns, and make a fist of it this time..

So for me, 1 x midfielder, 2 x full backs (we CANNOT go a season in championship with no cover like last season), 1 x centre half, Goalie and just One striker...

No idea when season will start though, but hey WE ARE IN THE CHAMPIONHIP.. Woooooooo

Would try again for Barlaser on loan and Iversen for another season.

I've been surprised at people not really rating Iversen, I think he has had a stronger first year than Rodak did at a similar stage to both their developments.

Don't think we'll get Barlaser after what Newcastle Manager said (he's gunna give him a try), maybe Jan Transfer window, if there is one... I agree on Iversen, I just assumed we wouldn't get him, but happy if he stays on loan again...

Warney it's his last chance. January transfer window forgettable. I'd have Iversen back. Look elsewhere if Barlaser won't be returning. Jones released another right back needed. Completely new left hand side also. Vassell can go. That's just for starters. Lamy tie him up under contract need to go more on talent in the championship.

Transfers have been MUCH better since Scotty came in.., . Not seen enough of Lamy to give an opinion on him GWRU ( We know you rate him!) agree with rest of what you say though.. UTM

I think Ogbene will be great for us in the championship and we will do well to hold onto him.

Leaving aside loan players, we have got a few of our own players at least who I think can cut it at Championship level. I would say Ihiekwe, Robertson (when fit), Crooks and Ogbene can definitely do it. Big opportunities for them and others to prove themselves. Who knows how strong other clubs will be with financial issues kicking in, and there may be some good players available for wages that might be within our reach.

Again loan players aside who could do a job for us in the championship Olosunde Ihiekwe Robertson Ogbene Lindsay Wiles Crooks Lamy Smith Ladapo. Possibly Mattock & Tilt, potentially Cooper & Kayode. That's a good foundation. Wood I'm not going to knock him he deserves another years pay, let him see his contract out. I'd release Price Jones. Move Thompson Clarke Vassell Yates on. Mcdonald also if we can get anyone to have him.

I'd get Wood involved with coaching, but the Millers can't afford more than three coaching staff.

Barlaser was the major factor in our improvement and we should try to buy him. He'd be even better in the Championship. Main priority has to be a top class striker. Don't think Ladapo and Vassell are anywhere near Championship standard. Need another left back to get Mattock out of his comfort zone and at this level we need a permanent goalkeeper. There are better options around than Iversen .

No chance of us signing Barlaser may be goalkeeper on loan. This squad is not good enough for the championship needs a lot of work then again the odd player could step up. Keep getting told how good the management team and the recruitment staff are there are a lot of fans are the same as me no confidence. The last 2 seasons in the championship have been very poor it is about time we had something to cheer.

We might get Barlaser as he isn't going to get near Newcastle's midfield, it's their best area. Whatever happened to Kieffer Moore? He was great for us and then ruined at Barnsley and I think Wigan. I thought he would make a good striker. Ladapo and Smith have to be questionable at the next level but if Warney thinks they can do it then so be it. COVID19 will throw the cat amongst the pigeons on transfers and salaries this season so suspect some decent players will come available at a good price - not sure we have the money and I'd rather survive this as a club than go down in flames with a load of debt.

I agree with NY about Barlaser. A season in The Championship might be the natural next step in his career. The same might be true with Iversen. I also agree that this will be a transfer window unlike any other. We might see some of the bloated Championship (and for that matter Premier League) clubs looking to trim their expenditure massively, whether that be with much smaller squads or by adjusting average wages downwards or both. That might result in the market being flooded with good quality players who we can afford. It is good news that with League One being called now and us not having to rely on the playoffs we (like Coventry) get more time than any other Championship club to prepare as best we can, financially and physically.

We are going to have to go back playing 4-5-1 in the championship. Need a new striker for that with some size about him. Vassell can go, I'd keep Kayode. Keeper cover at Right back, think Olosunde will step up. New a Left back. Need a Midfielder, Left wide player probably a Centre back.

You are saying we have to go back to 451 to give us a chance. Some might agree with you. I can already imagine a section of our supporters though shouting at Warney about not going for it and not playing two up front. Your mate THMiller will be one of them. He has already said he wants us to go for it and not be as boring as we were last time, when we nearly did enough. That shows how difficult it is. It is a real challenge.

I haven't got the answers any more than anybody else has, but for what it is worth I think we had it about right last time we were in the division when we came up just short. The basic principle of keeping the majority of players who got us there and having a good team spirit as a building block must be right.

I think we have the core of a decent side and a bit of an x factor with Ogbene that we didn't have before. The temptation is always to look at getting strikers in because as the old saying goes goals win games, but personally I would look first and foremost to look at making us hard to beat. I'm not saying that a quality striker wouldn't help - of course it would - but quite a few times a couple of seasons ago we scored a couple of goals - even in away games- and got either a point or nothing.

Ihiekwe spent a season out on loan last time and he has become a much better player. Robertson in my opinion is a good defender if we can keep him fit. We have something to build on.

I am happy to let Warne and co get on with it. I trust them. I am just pleased that we managed to get into the Championship at just the right time, and to be honest having a viable club and any football at all to watch is step one. Anything beyond that will be a bonus.

smiler I agree with you making us hard to beat that's were to start. That means an extra man in midfield. With Ogbene on the right just let him get forward slip Lindsay in behind him. I wouldn't be looking for an out & out winger on the left more a left sided midfield player who can track back.

I think it's a bit early to start talking about transfer news as the top two divisions still have games to play. However, to look at our current crop and who could cut it in the championship is the way to start. Also looking at some of the clubs in the third tier who might have to thin their squad is also a way in.

I think Derby and Wednesday will get points deduction next season. Both clubs will be cutting wages and moving on some big players. Wednesday look like an ageing squad and should have trimmed at least twelve months ago. A perfect fit for us but well out of our pay league would be Adam Reach. A left sided attacking player with only twelve months on his contract left. He will go for money but not to us i am afraid. Not sure about Derby so it's to the third tier i would look at.

Ipswich had a go and failed. They have a big squad and will be letting a lot go imo. I think young players like Flynn Downes and Andre Dozzell might not fancy it here and will be expecting bigger moves possibly to the premier league. Gwion Edwards is a rated left winger and might be worth a go. I think we need at least one central midfield player. What about Josh Vela at Shrewsbury . Joe Mattock struggled with fitness all last season and we need cover there. James Husband at Blackpool and Reece James at Doncaster looked decent to me so might be worth a go.

Of our current crop. I thought Iversen was an improvement on Rodak and would like him back. Olosunde and Thompson did ok at right back so would keep them. Ihiekwe plays well with Wood but whether our captain can give us another go in the championship i am not sure. I have major doubts about Robertsons pace and he doesn't read the game as well as Woody. Lindsay, Wiles and Crooks all will play a part. Ogbene will be difficult to keep. I would go with Smith and ladapo and try and move on Yates and Vassell. Kayode possibly needs a season out on loan in division one. Lamy, i have no real opinion on as i have only seen him for a few minutes. I dont have Gwru's magic eye. Tilt is highly thought of so let's hope he delivers. Move on Jones and if possible McDonald. Might have missed some out but thats a start.

I think we should make a £650,000 bid for Peterborough's Ivan Toney. That's the fee Peterborough paid Newcastle for him two years ago and I don't think Peterborough are a club that improves their players. He would provide cover for Freddie Ladapo and thereby strengthen the squad, although there is a risk because he's never played at Championship level (he did have a couple of Premier League games for Newcastle in 2015 but that didn't end well and led to the Magpies loaning him out to several League One teams).

Peterborough are apparently valuing him at £12 million so I wouldn't embarrass ourselves by offering £650,000.
