Very Bitter, Peterborough United

Agree, smiler.

I think a few in that play off hunt have spent far more than they should have done hence the desperation from some of them.

I read what supporters of Sunderland Oxford etc say. Their basic position is that we should all wait until this virus has gone away and then pick up where we left off. They say that as if the resumed competition would remotely resemble what the first three quarters of it looked like, but that just isnt the case. Some of the clubs involved might by then struggle to field any sort of side at all even if they wanted to. Some may struggle to exist at all. The contractual position of the players, the transfer window, the need to keep the division in sync with other leagues domestically and internationally, the need for certainty so that ailing clubs can budget to plan and survive - everything points to the need to conclude this season this summer. If the remaining games could safely and meaningfully be played out over the next four weeks or so, great. If they cant, find the fairest way to call it a day. However many times I think about that, points per game looks like the fairest option to at least give some value and meaning to the 3/4 of the season that we did manage to get through before the lockdown struck. I honestly think that I would feel the same way whatever position in the league we happened to be in. It is the least bad way to wrap up an imperfect situation.

there is no testing across the board for Lg1, (only 4 teams being tested, the playoff teams maybe?), so the League cannot be be finished as they would need to test everyone before the League starts up again , plus we need as a league to keep in sync with the PL & Champ.

Then there are contracts finishing this month, so with technically 3 weeks left of this month, i cant see a restart of the season happening.

What i can see, is playoffs/final only for LG1.

Here's what Barry Fry thinks tonight according to the Peterborough Telegraph:

It’s understood clubs voted 19-4 against continuing the season with only Posh, Sunderland, Ipswich and Tranmere voting to carry on.

“The EFL have been a disgrace throughout this process,” Fry said. “Just last week they arranged for four clubs they knew were going to be in the play-offs to be tested for coronavirus. They did this before today’s vote and those clubs had returned to training before today’s vote. How on earth can that be right? What on earth was the point of today’s vote when the EFL knew what the result would be?
“The whole thing has been a farce, They’ve not taken into account home form or the fixtures teams had left. They’ve promoted teams and put teams into the play-offs in a very dubious way.

“If this is what they wanted, why didn’t they just say so instead of letting it drag out unnecessarily? I’m astonished they have let this play out as they have.

“We’ve been cheated. I feel so sorry for the chairman, the board, the manager and especially the fans. We set our stall out to win promotion this season and we felt we still had a great chance to achieve it.”

Posh co-owners Darragh MacAnthony and Dr Jason Neale represented Posh at today’s virtual meeting. MacAnthony is booked to appear on Sky Sports at 9am tomorrow (June 10).

Should have got more points, Barry. All ifs and buts now but they had 35 games and were seventh best. Mind the gap.

From the 'other side'

'Ronnie Moore so far, my favourite ever games being Brentford and Garner's goal against Wednesday, but I absolutely believe Paul Warne can go on to surpass him for me.

I'd not pick another manager in the country over him for his approach, and he's getting the results. Long may it continue, if we can keep hold of him. I'd offer him a contract for life if I was able such is my confidence in him, even if we had the odd bad season'

Maybe he doesn't go to home games. Mean all.

Did Mr MacAnthony have a Dr with him to keep an eye on his blood pressure?

I would not be so hard on Peterborough on the face of it looks very harsh from their position. It is best to let them have a good moan would we be any different if it had happened to us.

I'd be far more sympathetic if they weren't behaving like they are. Good luck to them with their 'Vengeance Tour' next season. Classy.

The Vengeance tour stuff made me cringe.

Its about time they shut up now and cracked on. Feel they are already doing plenty of teams team talks for next season.

Totally agree with that C... a lot of clubs & players will want to put them in their place, and Sunderland, for creating the division between clubs, and 'we are better than you' statements and rants...

I hope they both stay down.
