Gwru, we were second with ten games to go. We may or may not have gone up but we were certainly well placed to do so. We were above some clubs who very much fancied themselves to go up and spent more than us trying. Thirty-four games is long enough for the table to have settled into a pretty fair reflection of how good everyone was. In saying that you are certain we would not have gone up, you are making yourself look a bit of a pudding because it is very obvious that we very well might have done. Why can't you be man enough to admit that Warne and co did a pretty good job? Not a perfect job, but a good one. Can you manage that?

I know we're moving away from your OP Smiler, but it's worth reminding you that you are arguing against the Laura Kuenssberg of this site - slightly behind the Grim Reaper in terms of optimism!
For what it's worth, we need to consider that our next year in the Championship may be totally different to previous encounters. Depending how this season concludes, there may be less teams there due to forced administrations. Transfers fees and wages could go into freefall as diminishing crowds and TV contracts reduce the amount of money in the game. All of a sudden, it could be that a well run outfit like Rotherham, with a young and highly respected manager, could be the template that other clubs have to emulate to survive.
We would have won all of our remaining games six nil. Prove me wrong.
Lol.
Gwru was convinced we would lose at Ipswich, and Oxford, and Coventry and against any half decent team we played (unless we happened to beat them in which case they were crap and we were lucky). Ladapo would never win you a game - unless he did. The top scoring midfielder in the league has never been a footballer. The best centre half in the division is a liability who should have been shipped out.
Clearly when he says the manager is useless and we weren't going up, we should all pay serious attention.

In this changing world, anything is possible!
Fair point Glenn. The playing field might be a little more level in the Championship next season. There is a good interview with Rob Scott on the o/s and I thought it was interesting that he predicted that there will be many more Championship quality players who will be free agents this summer looking for clubs, and who might have to lower their sights in terms of wage demands. It is difficult to predict how it might all shake out.
Where are you thinking we might get a 'young and highly respected manager' from? There aren't many of them about...

We only won because the opposition didn't turn up, which seems to have been happening with great regularity this season. It has nothing to do with Paul Warne and his team.
Gwru: if we do get to the championship and are then relegated, i’d hope to be managed by someone who knows what the club is about, wont try and bankrupt us, and has 2 previous promotions from league 1 on his cv. Just trying to think of one....🤔
Warney he's too rigid hasn't got a plan b. Short of ideas, slow to react. January he'd just got Lamy involved, crowd took to him what's he do loans him out for two left wide men brought in who showed nothing. Don't give me Lamy couldn't get in the Wimbledon side cause would be the same there for him their manager will have his chosen side he's just there to bring on if needed. Lamy, Cooper & Kayode think all 3 now could do a job for us even in the championship. Look at central defence apart from Ihiekwe & Robertson who else we got good enough for the championship. We have got players a good age who can step up. Just need squad upgrading in certain positions especially both left side positions. There are certain young players who are up to strength, those 3 are. Just need a manager to believe in them.

Sometimes there are opinions that are controversial, maybe a bit left field, maybe a bit odd etc but you can respect them because there is some logic there to hang on to. Then there is the odd bit of utter nonsense. Blanket criticism of a manager who has got us into a promotion place with nine games to go is just utter nonsense. By all means constructively criticise elements of his performance, but at the same time give credit where it is due gwru otherwise you lose all (any) credibility.
Lamy isnt quite there yet. He made a couple of cameo appearances and looked what he is - talented but very raw. Kayode is coming on nicely. They are managing him perfectly well. Cooper is quite a way off yet. Let them do their jobs. They are doing alright.
Are we going up or will we end up in the Mickey Mouse playoffs. Wait and see what will happen no good bothering about next season no one has any clue what will happen. If you are bored go and do a bit of fruit picking ok for prem players to cry off( I do agree ) surely the furlonged workers are entitled to the same concerns. Farmers will not put in safety measures or pay any money out I have seen them in action.
Your right. I was crop picking for a farmer, he tried to pay me in vegetables. I said the celery was unacceptable. I got laid off from fruit picking, there it was strpped clean of fruit overnight. Police say their investigations are proving fruitless. Just to lead you in to my thinking. What I'm saying Cooper, Lamy & Kayode aren't kids. Out of the 3 ok to have Kayode out on loan from January but want him here next season with the other two who should have been here. We were short of centre backs if season had continued I'd would sooner have kept Cooper than wasting a wage on Tilt. Nobody can tell me Lamy wouldn't have been more use to us than Adelakun & Koroma who added nothing.
It is so easy to be an armchair critic gwru, but setting aside the fact that there were things that you in your infinite wisdom would have differently (and in your mind no doubt done better which makes me wonder why you aren't picking up a championship Manager's wage), the fact that we were second with nine games to go speaks for itself quite loudly.
Can you bring yourself gwru to say in really simple terms that Paul Warne did a fairly good job at worst?
Give Warney 5 out of 10 this season. He had Ajayi, Vaulks money. Some good signings Olosunde Ogbene Lindsay Ladapo still not sure + Iversen Barlaser on loan. McDonald Clarke Tilt no + Adelakun & Koroma same. I've already said defence we ended up with was not a promotion defence. No left side all season when all manager had to do was switch Ogbene to the left & play Lamy on the right. But Warney must have learnt something while he's been the manager & can't see him not being manager at start of next season so it's his job to lose.
Theres no point saying anything to gwru because he never looks or listens. When we signed Tilt it was made clear it was a signing for the long term. Unless gwru was at Rochdale, he wont have seen him yet. He will have seen Lamy against Donny Reserves, for seven minutes against Bristol Rovers when we were already three nil up, and thought he did well at Peterborough because he saw him misfit a cross in the highlights (the numerous times that Lamy was brushed off the ball or had it taken off him like a boy playing against men didnt make the highlights). Lamy is today's hobby horse. Bailey King was yesterdays. It will be someone else next year. Possibly Cooper judging by the early signals. Five out of ten.....classic.
Tilt signing was desperate. He must have had some agent or agent Blackstock! But we've still got Douglas. Lamy I've said I don't read anything into him not getting in the Wimbledon side who could have a manager like Warney who plays his favourites. Just know Lamy he's got more ability than most here. Hope we don't let him go for nothing.
