A little light reading for you gru. When you bought your season ticket, you entered into a contract to provide you with a seat for 23 home games. If you now google 'force majeure' you will understand that, in true gru double negative speak, 'the club don't owe nobody nothing'
The contract is unenforceable under the current cir***stances.
smiler I'm not preaching to anyone. Live your life how best you can. If you need a refund that's your business. Nothing to do with me. I haven't got a problem with that at all. Just that at the end of all this we have a football club. We want that to continue don't we. Sure we do.
'If you need a refund that's your business'.
Do you actually read posts properly?
Do you try to get up peoples noses, or do you just have a natural gift for it?
smiler good to have you back. You might not think so but I rate your posts. I've always said I'm not a wordsmith so what I say might come across abit annoying but that's not how it's meant. I can't see the difference between what you say & I agree with nobody is interested in your personal situation than that's your business. Anyone's personal business is their own.
Lenthemiller stated it is only a suggestion that is all I and a few others can see the sense in it. No one is saying that the club will impose anything like that on the supporters. Seen the news today Hospices as well as care homes are being forgotten. If the money from my season ticket went to that good cause more than happy.
Playing behind closed doors is looking as if it will be imposed on fans who have the same view as me waste of time.
You think that I'm not as big a fan as you are. I would say that travelling 30000 miles over three, four, five years, home and away, makes my other half and I bigger fans than you.
Miles don't count how many games do there will be fans who go to all home and away games are bigger supporters than me. Having said that it is the season ticket holders who are the backbone of the club no income from away support. I will be there first game friendly cup or league game more important we avoid this virus stay safe.
A force majeure clause does not necessarily mean that a contract is not enforceable. It usually means that specific performance is not available as a remedy I.e. insistence on delivery. A buyer may still accept non-performance as a repudiatory breach and seek money damages from a seller. That is a broad statement of legal principles and does not constitute legal advice. It depends on the precise worsing and particular facts of each case. In this case a season ticket is a business to consumer contract. I havent looked at the contract terms but it would be surprising to me if the club tried to assert force majeure and not issue a refund. A better view might be that the pandemic has frustrated the contract and just settle up a balance. A better view still might be that a pro rata refund is just the right thing to do. The club may yet deliver the games in any event. If not I would like to think they will do the honourable thing regardless of the strict legal position.

I did read a few weeks ago man utd we're talking about reimbursing fans that is the only information I have seen on this issue. In defense of the clubs, they will have no idea what is happening just playing catch up. There is is a meeting this Friday to see if the situation becomes any clearer doubt it looks as if it is every man for themselves. Have seen our players could be taking a 25% deferral for April plus ongoing talks for after that.

Club should issue refunds - if I couldn't afford my last 3 months payments they wouldn't let me attend for free and their rules around cancelled DDs are pretty draconian. I can afford to lose the money but I would rather it be my decision to keep or donate it.
Would like a club statement on this. I'm happy if they request that we don't apply for them to help out but would like an acknowledgement that we are owed money - haven't had an email or anything. Even if the season restarts it's behind closed doors so this matter could be concluded now. Every other business ( including the one I work in) has covered off the financial side of C19 and so should football clubs.
I don't feel strongly either way, but my view is that anyone with a season ticket already expected to pay for it - so I don't think you could argue about needing a refund on financial loss grounds.
Which means the argument is for a refund for not getting what you've paid for.
IF we get promoted, I think prices should be increased, but a refund for existing season ticket holders (who have paid for a full season), to the value of the home games lost this season. That way we get something but it doesn't hurt the clubs finances too much.. Just my thoughts anyway.

... and please please please let L1 vote to end season on PPG next week!
Assuming there's no vaccine available before the start of next season and that some form of social distancing has to be applied to football crowds, I wonder if the club have considered what configuration of seating would provide a safe distance? I'm sure there are many season ticket holders who would wish to attend but wouldn't do so if it meant having to sit so close to a potential Covid carrier. Perhaps a system could be considered where the season ticket holder gets free online access to the game and the club can sell the seat to a low risk/immune supporter. Could be a good income generator for the club - especially if we're in the Championship!
No one will buy a season ticket to watch it on the telly - it's a lot cheaper to just pay for the game via ifollow. Showing home games on TV will kill the game for me - the crowd and atmosphere are a big part of it. May as well go and watch Parkgate play in national league's.
As soon as season tickets are out I will get one if you want a football club this is the time to back them. As been suggested open away end I am prepared to move there from my lofty perch in the main stand with a metre social distancing it will work. If dentist can open up again surely grounds can even if it is with limited numbers.
I'm not sure there is any safe way to configure the seating. I dont know how you get past the problem of people getting past each other in the aisles and rows when they are coming and going. By the time you get to a truly safe configuration the crowd would be so thin it wouldn't be worth bothering. Rubbish though it is, I suspect that TV streaming is the only likely option for the foreseeable future.
