Football, when is it going to return?

smiler depends position a club was in when the season was suspended. Of course, Roth U fans me included would like another crack at the championship. But 9 games to go a lot could change. I don't agree with points for games from games played this season, that's like mystic meg territory! I'm more in favour of the top 2 when the season was stopped being promoted but any decision will have to get the necessary majority in an open vote. What I said declaring this season null & void will avoid appeals ect.. against the decision.

Not going round in circles gwru but there could just as easily be challenges from teams in promotion places if they just void it. In Holland they just voided it and some club that was miles clear at the top of the second tier has already launched an appeal. And average points per game is obviously fairer than just looking at places in the table. If one club is in a promotion place a single point ahead of another that isnt, but the lower club had got four games in hand, which of them deserves to go up? It seems fair and obvious to me.

In reality we finish second by either measure.

I'm not sure whether there can be legal cases taken out by clubs who feel they have lost out if this season if it's called null & void. All I can find out especially premiership clubs stand to lose a substantial amount of money from broadcasting contracts if this season isn't completed. But another 649 deaths today from covid-19 so that's more important than already multi-millionaire premiership players not wanting to give away topping that up.

'Unlimited exercise and picnics expected as early as next Monday' according to some media sources. That's me back into light training then. I like a decent strawberry jam sandwich.

My DIY haircut means that I won't even have a full head of hair for quite some time. Plus I don't do baseball caps. Back to self isolation it is then. Back to the cave.

UTM! UTA! Up The Royal Family!

One thing I'd noticed on covid-19 press conferences they don't look short of a haircut, sure Royal Family will be the same. Hope pubs aren't allowed to sell beer if they are can open their beer gardens when you can't go in pubs. Football in this country going to wait to see how this season is decided. Alot to work out there.

The Government that is to say, Boris Johnson has been talking to Disinfectant Don Trump. Trump has instructed BJ to call the shots and speak to the UK people next Sunday. Parliament will have no say in the matter. So we are led to believe. However, BJ has had second thoughts about doing a complete 'U' turn by suddenly lifting and easing restrictions when we've all been told how devastating Covid19 can be to human beings. Question is, how can we be in the middle of a pandemic one week and then next Monday restrictions were going to be lifted and everything is okay in the world? There is a whiff in the air and it's not cherry blossom.

'O what a tangled web we weave, when first we practise to deceive!' springs to mind. And no, it wasn't Shakespeare who wrote that particular poem.

One more sleep to the VE commemoration day celebrations.

Up the Millers! Up The Allotment! Up The Royals!

If you like garden centres, picnics in family's & possibly outdoor cafes you could be ok. None of them for me. Watching Roth U & drinking in pubs I'm going to have to wait. Snooker which I like watching on tv could be sooner. Hoping top NH horseracing will be back in October. League 1 & 2 said to be announcing ending their seasons next week. Got to get the necessary majority to vote in favour of that & how promotion & relegation will be decided. Red Nev he's spoken! Pretty certain Roth U will be promoted. I want that then we've got to improve the quality & move players on not good enough. Be brave Warney for once give the younger players like Cooper, Lamy & Kayode a chance. Other clubs do.

I see that Dinamo Dresden (who play in Bundesliga 2) are not now able to take part in their first couple of resumed fixtures because two of their squad have tested positive for the virus so the whole squad must isolate for 14 days. Presumably, if they had played a match recently the players in those squads would also have to isolate. They haven't even got going again yet and the wheels are falling off. It is an absolute farce.

Looking as though our season is over playing behind closed doors is a none starter for teams in div 1&2. There could be a vote on sorting promotion and relegation this week I am not concerned which league we are in I just want to go back to watching football when it is safe to do so. As for red nev his stock seems to be rising when they have these meetings he is someone that people listen to instead of everyone shouting at each other. You might not be his biggest fan but a bit of leadership is needed when you are making these decisions.

A Brighton player has now tested positive. This plan to get the season played needs binning off now. Or do they expect players to Stay Alert and exercise social distancing at free kicks and corners? It is the money men who are desperate to get games played (I dont see any public clamour for it) and peoples lives are being put at risk in the process. Its shameful.

Totally agree Smiler. The new mantra should be Back To Work, Catch The Virus, Save The Billionaires.

OK, if what I've read today is correct that FA have now told PL that no relegation is not an option. I expect PL to restart 1st June or shortly after.

I'm now guessing that will open up chance for EFL at Wednesday's meeting to apply PPG to promote Leeds/WBA (possibly playoffs for 3rd place at neutral ground/s with no crowds) and same rules will then cascade down to L1 and L2 etc..

So still hoping we will go up too on that basis.

I can't see EFL games (apart from playoffs maybe) being played as Gov have said only behind closed doors, which is OK for PL as they don't rely on crowd money so much, but it would cost too much in EFL with outgoings without incoming £s.

Some teams will squeal about it, but hope EFL stay strong and tell 'em its the only way as Null & Void is a worse option and not finishing season removes risk of harm to players & staff.

Obviously I'm 100% biased in my hope for this outcome. biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

If it's going to be decided on PPG agree with one idea base it on both home & away games. Wycombe have played 2 more home games than away also their home PPG are around double of that of games they've played away. Just make it a true reflection of this season.

If memory serves there were add-ons included in the Ajayi transfer not only for a percentage of any future transfer fee but also for a chunk of money if he helped them to promotion. That money would come in handy now, so we might have a vested interest in West Brom going up. That cash, any extra revenue from being in the higher division and the prudent way we are run in general might make us a lot healthier than a lot of other clubs at this moment in time.

What's that got to do with the price of eggs! By all accounts we were hung, drawn & quartered on the Ajayi add ons as well. If West Brom go up + no. of appearances as well we'd get bout £500,000. That might pay Tilt his wages for not playing or another Jones or McDonald.

At a time when the clubs income has nosedived I imagine that all extra revenue will be welcome. WBA going up and us going up would be better for us than those things not happening. That's all. It's not bloody rocket science is it?

Can see that but at the same time with income down no more sick notes like Potter, Jones & Macdonald. Tilt hope isn't another.
