Football, when is it going to return?

If you were the manager of Rotherham United gru, would your management style be autocratic or democratic?

You can use Google.

More towards autocratic but not totally.

I knew that. Jump when I say jump, not I'd like you to jump, and this is why it's mutually beneficial.

In the 21st Century, barking out orders doesn't work. Treating people as adults and talking to them rationally does. Steve Evans neanderthal style compared to Paul Warne.

Barking out orders never worked. I know from my has a player the more the manager shouted the less I listened.

It's not about barking orders out. It's when it comes to crunch whose got it. They are few & far between. In this crisis Trump & Bojo ? both of them & the UK are there any leaders out there, I can't see any. Germany seem to have covid-19 more under control, why? did they have restrictions in place sooner? I'm not sure on that. Know they have tested far more people than we have.

So EFL extend cessation until it is safe.

Sensible... Who knows, if things are better sometime in May, we have until the end of June before it gets complicated with player contracts and TV deals etc.

It will only take 3 or 4 weeks max to complete the season's games, with or without crowds, and with the Premier League now providing some finaicial support for the EFL, the lack of turnstile money is not as big an issue.

So, time will tell but I'd still much prefer the season to be completed rather than abandoned and I think that's where the PL and EFL's heads are, for now at least.

Stay safe & well everyone, that's the most important thing... UTM

It is the good news of the financial support from the premier league still have no idea if this season is going to be completed. Needs this so called government to make a decision they will always favour the money men I can't see it being completed by the end of June. I am no fan of the money prem players get seeing as I have sky sports partly my fault. The politicians using them as a scapegoat to cover up the mistakes made over this virus. What about boris and his mates taking a pay cut plus up to 900 in the house of Lords save more money than footballers.

UEFA putting threats to premier leagues if they don't finish the season. EFL don't look to have a say to me, but lower you go there next season playing football in front of the paying public is what they would prefer. To avoid players from this season being out of contract cut off point it's got to be June 30th 2020 when this season ends. Difference between null & voiding this season or Ending the season now the latter the points achieved to this point do count then maths come into it. The legal experts say the losers will look to get the situation overturned. They say the best way of mitigating that risk is to have an open vote which returns a clear majority.

SPFL clubs are to vote on ending the season. Premiership clubs vote has been delayed. Points per games from games played this season will decide remainder of this season. No play-offs this season. For the resolution to pass at least 75% of clubs in each division need to vote in favour. How long before the EFL does the same? Think if we go that way seeing there are no play-offs there's a case for just 2 promoted same relegated from each league apart from league 1 were they will have to go different to make it 24 sides in that league in case the premiership have different ideas.

The current government war cabinet needs to pull its finger out and really start 'ramping up' the testing of the population for antibodies relating to the Covid19. Sport in general was written off weeks ago. However, it appears that many people are of the opinion that 'lockdown' will soon come to an end and we can all carry on with our daily lives. In Wuhan, China, the reported place of origin of Covid19, they have come out of lockdown after some 76 days. There are still restrictions in place for the people living in and around Wuhan. The UK is just two weeks into lockdown. We've still got a long way to go. Will the war against this virus be over by Christmas 2020? Let's hope so. Meanwhile people's lives are more important that staging any sporting event. Jose Mourinho should especially take note when reportedly taking some of his players out for training in a public place.

You could be right gwru prem might play rest of the games left this season to get tv money. With clubs having no income with this suspension get this season sorted then we can plan for the next. I will get my season ticket as soon as it is safe to do so I will always back my club need the fans to come together and show some support.

When/if we come out of this hope we've learned not to let people in & out of this country like before. China I'd be cutting links off with that country totally. What they've caused deserves no less.

A points based system is now a must in relation to issuing visas to people visiting our shores for work, studies and pleasure. Much tighter checks at our borders. Even checking the body temperatures of visitors to the UK could be a way forward? Would that be a breach of visitors' Human Rights though? Will there be an inquiry into the outbreak of this dreadful virus? Possibly. Could Covid19 have been contained much sooner in the Far East? Probably not. The first reported cases of people who had got the virus was at least one visitor to York who had travelled from the Far East. Body temperature checks were not in place at our borders at that time. Nor was the virus being taken seriously by many people  when its outbreak in China was first reported by the world media. A vaccine needs to be produced to counter the effects of Covid19 because as sure as night follows day it will mutate and return again some time in the future.

so hopefully we will get the season finished, makes sense to at least start the games behind closed doors until/if we are all given the all clear to resume normal socialising...

May as well scrap/void this season than play it behind closed doors. Football it's for the fans. Top players say that, managers also. EFL have they got a say or just fall in line. The powers that be dictate but are the best interests of all the EFL considered. The £125 million advance from the premiership to the EFL & the National league will not be distributed while there is more clarity on financial matters including in particular in respect to players wages. Does that mean premiership players refusing a wage reduction. Needs clarity on that statement.

If they play the rest of the season behind closed doors give the fans their money back. We the great unwashed have paid our hard earned money to watch our clubs if that is what the big money men want make the players play for nothing plus make the billionares cough some money up. I bet there is a fat chance that happening. There is a use for that money I can buy myself an umbrella so that I can use it when it rains. Stood outside Morrisons this morning waiting 40 minutes to get in.

Gets me premiership players are being made out to be heroes but where's the money promised to be advanced to the ELF & the National League. They are sat on their millions at least while some EFL clubs could go bust. Doesn't sit right with me that.

It's not an easy decision whatever they go with, but I'd argue :

- Scrapping the season will hit hardest financially on clubs, with zero income opportunity until next season.

- Playing behind closed doors will allow some negotiations with TV companies about paying for games

- Individual clubs can charge to watch using Ifollow or similar, potentially free to season ticket holders

- Finishing the season is the fairest way to recognise performance over the season, good or bad

- Finishing avoids legal challenges by clubs in promotion & playoff chance positions

- The majority of fans with season tickets, given they are happy to still be alive, I would suggest would accept their
payment is a contribution to keeping the club going, with the possibility of a discount on next season, or as stated
above, free access to the viewing of the behind closed doors games.

- Scrapping the season will give the EFL a massive problem with clubs they deducted points from or in Bury's case, threw
them out (don't get me wrong, I'd like them back in..)

- It makes next season a 'normal' season except for the starting date maybe. the alternative would still raise the
arguments above about those in promotion and relegation positions and if there needs to be any sort of points allocation
before the start of the new season

- The 92 clubs (+ national league) are much more likely to buy-into a restart than any other alternative. Any other
alternative would cause many arguments about 'winners and losers/ fair unfair' ..

etc, etc, etc.

The case for finishing the season, if possible, even without fans in stadiums, for me is MUCH stronger than an argument to scrap the season. As I say, appreciating nothing is an easy or good outcome..

For me, this season is gone any momentum is lost never get it back. If we were to play behind closed doors how would that work if it is on the model the prem big boys want they are going to use three hubs and some training facilities nearby. They have to be tested and have to live at the training camps for the duration of the games. How are clubs like the millers going to do that put caravans in the NYS car park donny should be ok with that?. I just can't see how that would work I still think the only good outcome is a club to support when it is safe to do so. It will be our chairman that will guide us through this difficult period up to the fans to back him.
