The cliche says every side has a bad spell but ours couldn't come at a worse time. True it's our first defeat in seven but the recent damaging draws with Wimbledon & MK makes this a bad run. Failure to beat Southend & we can forget automatic promotion IMO.
With the form of our challengers being good even the playoffs aren't a given either but hopefully todays Dale debacle will act as the kick up the arse the squad & management need going into the run in.
Just leaving rochdale. Really poor today. Cheo was dangerous but the final ball was lacking. Nobody else did anything much. Dale recognises that we were slow and often square at the back. We really missed Ihiekwe. Henderson's not quick but his movement is good. Too good for is today. Supporters fighting amongst themselves. Woody came over at full time to give them a *******ing for it. Pretty embarrassing day all round.
There are a number of people myself included that are not fully convinced with PW ability as a manager, however so far we have done well, however he has been fully backed by his board. So this little wobbly I think has come at a good time, because we will now see just how good a manager and leader he is and how good his management team are. The pressure is on and there is now no room for any more bad performances, it is a mini- season of 9 games with the squad he wanted. An ex-manager is showing his ability at the moment which makes it even more interesting. The pressure is on now and good managers deliver in those cir***stances and if he does then I will willingly hold my hand up to congratulate him and RB.
Hang on, hang on - the guy has done 75% of the season and we are second. We can't just forget that and he's been a good manager all year long. We've had a blip and all clubs do - Barlaser was a blow to him and Icky also but we are still in the place where 20 odd other teams would love to be. We will give Southend a right pasting this weekend I'm absolutely sure of it.

Warney he's dug his own grave. Told them on MM but they are mostly Warney boys like on here. Letting Lamy go yes if he got players better in but put Adelakun & Koroma together wouldn't get a player as good as Lamy. Also told them on MM Evans he's proving again what a good manager he his.
However well we do, there will always be somebody ready to set a new bar to create a further opportunity for Warne to fail. First, he has to get us into the playoffs. Once that is secured (not done yet by a long chalk) it will be finish top two. If we go up, it will be staying up. Some of our supporters never wanted him as manager because he isnt a big name or an outspoken character, and there is undoubtedly a (hopefully small) minority amongst our supporters who want him to fail.
Smiler setting warne or any manager high barriers is essential otherwise we never move forward. Wanting him to fail, not at all I want us to win every game and with style. I want my manager to be bold, ambitious and driven to achieve the best for the club. Warne like all managers will be judged on results and for me where we end up. As stated on a previous post a team that is top on 1st march should at least make the playoffs, if we do not then yes he has failed, if we do that is fine no matter what happens in the lottery of the playoffs.
After Saturday's performance if you can call it that manager nor the players not good enough. It is up to him to prove he is up to the job I would love to be proved wrong. As someone has said on here if we don't get a win against Southend forget the playoffs.
There were people on here and who I have spoken to who are not on here who made the playoffs a minimum requirement. A couple of week ago when we were pulling away a bit they moved the bar higher, and some were already setting the scene for next season. I have seen and heard it.
Broadly speaking I am a fan of Warne. I like his style and his honesty. He is not perfect and I disagree with some of the things he does. My personal opinion, for example, is that we have asked too much of Ben Wiles this season. We were really careful to nurture his introduction to first team football but in the last few weeks he has been moved around to just about every position on the field, not only from game to game but within games. I suspect that it may not be doing him much good. I suspect that the vast majority of sensible people are somewhere near the middle of the spectrum - neither a Warne-hater nor a Warne-lover. It isn't as simple as that, is it?
For me, he has already proven that he is a good manager. He took us up from League One and made a really good fist of keeping us in the Championship. Now he has us in contention again. I don't think he has to prove, although football being what it is he is probably (like every other manager in the country) half a dozen bad results from his job being under threat.
I agree about Wiles the lad has been outstanding this season. You know my views on purrington I think warne handled awfully and mattock is not paying warne back for his loyalty, hopefully warne will learn his lesson and not to dump good players because they are a little hard to manage. Good leaders develop people and for me warne could have turned the purrington and Dom ball situations around but he took the easy option and our squad was worse for it. That is an opinion based on what I saw but I accept I do not have all the facts. What warne does that annoys me is he is not bold enough and too timid in his approach and comments, example the "I knew for a fact we would lose games" comment it lacks belief and conviction and those are the reasons why his leadership style is limited. However I do like him overall, he comes across as a top bloke that you could have a pint with and he cares about the club I love, so although he frustrates me and I will rant about him at times he has my support this season and you can only judge any manager one season at a time.
Wobble yes, but come on... if you want to see a Manager who has no idea how to manage his players, just look accross the M1 at the team in Blue & White, and they have a squad which is probably worth more than our whole club several times over.
We are doing OK, and I hope we can get out of it. Left back cover apart, we have a good squad playing 100% for Warne... fingers crossed we can get back on track.
I agree with that Davidedin. Monk has a hell of a job on his hands. Hillsborough seems a bit toxic, and in interviews he sounds to me like a man who might not be unhappy to get his cards and a payoff - if they can afford one.
