What is Trump playing at? You are President of the USA man! What you say matters! One week he says Coronavirus is a hoax. Then he says it may be real but will go away by April. Then he says he said all along it would be a pandemic of massive proportions. He says the Chinese and WHO were doing a fantastic job, then later says they were all incompetent. He describes his ban on flights from China as a 'total ban' but actually around 40,000 people went into the US from China in the weeks after it was implemented. He says nobody saw COVID coming, but his own experts were telling him all about it for weeks while he was denying it was a threat at all and saying that it was like seasonal flu at worst. He tries to rewrite history so often that people have become numb to his fairytales He urged people to take Hydroxychloroquine not only as a cure but as a preventative measure before it had been properly tested, whereas following testing it has been found to have harmful effects if any at all. Now he is actually suggesting (he said it - I saw it with my own eyes) that there is a possibility that getting Ray's of sunshine or disinfectant into your body (whatever that means) might be a cure. He says in the next breath that he is not a doctor but he nonetheless suggested it, and urged doctors to investigate it. The worlds doctors and manufacturers of bleach have felt compelled to remind people today that bleach is poison to the human body. FFS mate, you are the President. Millions hear your words. They matter. Leave the science to the scientists and stop with the damaging and dangerous snake oil theories. For once in your life put your ego to one side and show some real leadership. The guy is no more than a walking disaster - a very dangerous idiot.

Covid19 pandemic? Elon Musk and Bill Gates with their current respective projects relating to Artificial Intelligence are worth consideration. As for the regular chemtrails in our skies? Definitely not vapour. As for disinfectant Donald Trump aka Dettol Don? He's making a mockery of everything that we have been told. Why so, Donald? Is this pandemic not as serious as world leaders are leading us to believe?
Carl Jung believed in 'psychic attacks' which had a detrimental affect on a person's mental health. Another interesting angle on what's currently occuring worldwide.

The avg amount of registered deaths per month in England & Wales in 2019 was about 46000.. ONS.
The arbitrary corona virus related 'death toll' (RIP) that the manipulative media put out daily provides zero context! Like age & whether they had underlying health issues etc
The chances of dying from the corona virus at the moment in the UK are 600,000/1! You've more chance of being killed by the normal flu virus! PHE estimates that on average 17,000 people die from the flu in England annually.
The only thing this entire shambles proves really is how easily the media can manipulate the masses!

It was interesting to hear an interview with Peter Hitchens a few days ago, where during the discussion most of the above was quoted; but more shockingly, apparently 40.000 died in the winter of 2018 of flu, the year of 'Aussie Flu', all of which passed without a mention
I also think the ritual of clapping is getting out of control. I don't know where or when it started, but Initially I thought it was a one off voluntary thing to show appreciation of the work the NHS staff were doing. I joined in since particularly my sister has been a nurse at Rotherham General for about 30 years and is definitely on the 'front line', but I would have done it anyway.
Since then it seems to have become very cultish with neighbours going on social media and naming and shaming people, who for whatever reason did not turn out for the ritual thursday clapping. It now seems to have become compulsory, otherwise persons can be intimidated and humiliated. Its not right.
Been a long time since I sat English lessons so try to understand point I'm trying make. Can't get my head round some of the measures or not our government have taken: covid-19. UK it's an Island incl' N Ireland, but our government says there's nothing to be gained from testing the thousands of people travelling into the UK everyday. I don't agree. There's got to be a reason why the UK have one of the worst death rates per population in most of the world. Know it would be nier impossible to keep this virus from the UK but amount of people bringing it in could have been limited. If we could have done that it had to have been more an advantage than disadvantage trying to contain coronavirus.

Just been reading through the many posts on this Covid19 thread. Apart from the development and production of a number of vaccines to help counter Covid19 there doesn't appear to be a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm now sporting long white hair and a beard to match. And no, I won't be gadding about delivering parcels to random strangers on Christmas Eve! I'm leaving that to the professional guy who I believe has been declared 'Covid secure' for this festive season.
So, all the best to you fellow Banterers on this site for Christmas and the New Year and that includes The Two Ronnies! In a strange way they bring an amusing and interesting twist to this site.

Deaths are rising to a very high level again the authorities made the situation a lot worse when they reopened unis schools and colleges. It is obvious that the people running these places don't know how to deal with this situation. They should remain closed in January needs another full lockdown that includes football. Hopefully we can all get our jabs in the new year stay safe.
Professor Hugh Pennington, Emeritus Professor of Bacteriology at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. says that scientists in the UK have been doing more work with genome sequencing than any other country in the World. The UK is ahead of the game having kept tabs on Covid19 as it has been mutating into a number of strains. As a result the current vaccines, if accepted by people, will help soften the blow should they catch Covid19. Is there now a chink of light at the end of the very long tunnel? I would like to think so.
Vaccine.or no vaccine, it's my guess Covid 19 is here to stay with it morphing each year into another variant, just like the common flu virus that kills thousands of people each year but no one takes much notice.
We'll just have to live with it. What frightens me though is I don't think we'll see the end of lockdowns and restrictions any time soon.
Like the flu, I think we should take sensible precautions, keep calm, take the vaccine if we choose to and carry on as it seems to me the 'cure' is worse than the disease.

Has anyone noticed what's happening in the private rental housing sector? Rents have been hiked up to a ridiculous level even in places like Rotherham. The estate/ letting agents along with " property developers" dine out on the vulnerability of our most underpriveledged people for one reason alone, profit, it's disgusting
Profit will always be put before people Brad in this system we live under. People voted for more of it in Dec 2019 i am afraid.
Back to Elite Sport and Coronavirus. Imo it will not be long before it is stopped, not just because the infection is out of control (i still think it is Derby) but because of lack of Ambulance and medical cover. Can we really ask front line medical staff and ambulances to attend football matches and Horse Racing meetings (they need two ambulances) when so many of our heroes are either off sick or under immense pressure. I think it will be pulled in the next week or so for a three to four break. I also think it is the right thing to do.
