In Parliament today 2 groups of workers mentioned the gig economy and zero hours contract workers. The health secretary said they could claim universal credit as was explained to him you have at least five weeks to get any money. How come it is always people at the bottom of the pile who pay the price. The money men in the stock market will get a rate cut plus billions poured in. They will be taking a 10 ton skip to work for all the money they will make. If anyone one of them decides they are going to carry on working who can blame them.

At least you can still afford your 'sessions'. Getting your priorities in order in life is important.

When did he mention that in this thread? Reading back through his comments they are about the reality of having to work to keep going.

Lots of people cannot afford to stockpile food etc. Many use a foodbank. I've visited three supermarkets in the past week. Shelves and freezer cabinets are still packed with food. Maybe some people have already gone into self isolation? Can anyone remember the panic buying when there was a 'sugar shortage' reported by the media many years ago?

What will happen if football clubs are hit by the coronavirus? There'll be no football at all being played. The football authorities may need to postpone the remaining fixtures until the beginning of April at the earliest. Needs must if the virus is as serious as has been reported where certain groups of people, who already have health issues, are most at risk.

The coronavirus has been around for decades in its different forms. Wonder why scientists have not been tasked with producing a vaccine by government? There are vaccines to help counter influenza and pneumonia.

I'm off to do the weekly shop now. Must remember to wear gloves when handling the shopping trolley.

Doctors in Spain advising men to be clean shaven. Makes sense. Just got rid of mine after 3 years! Feel naked!

I understand that the coronavirus is able to attach itself to most things including a head of hair. I'm not ready to have my head clean shaven just yet. By the way wasn't it the Spanish Flu Pandemic 1918-20 that killed 50 million people worldwide?

Corvid 19 is a new variant of Coronavirus to which humans have no immunity. Scientists cannot begin to produce a vaccine to combat a virus until the virus presents itself - unfortunately.

It has been reported that medical experts are testing the possibility that drugs used for patients with HIV would also work to those who are affected by the coronavirus. Thai doctors claimed that they had successfully treated 2 infected patients with the use of a mixed combination of HIV and flu drugs.

Listening to someone who had the flu jab in January got the flu I was exactly the same. He was asking the question has he already had this virus it must have been going around for years. How many people have already got it don't bother reporting it how accurate are those figures that are put out every day. The death numbers correct but how many have actually got it do they actually know I could have had it already.

Strangely enough I heard that reported 3 weeks ago on Virgin radio that they had on at work. The report said a woman in her 70's had been treated with the HIV drug that had been tweeked a bit and she made a good recovery within 2 days. It went on to say that it was not a cure but it suppressed the virus enough to allow the body's immune system to overcome it. Thought I'd misheard the report because I never heard it mentioned again till reading that last post.

The Premier League is considering banning over 70s at its matches over coronavirus fears - as the outbreak continues to have an impact on the sporting schedule.
Sports authorities and broadcasters will meet on Monday to discuss contingency plans to cope with the killer disease as the number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK hits 164.

Did the ball cross the line? Looking like an own goal to me. And I thought VAR had its critics. Wonder why this site has very few people posting nowadays? The coronavirus won't go away just yet even though the topic has been moved from there to here. 😂

Why on earth has this thread been moved to OT? Could whoever moved it please read the opening post, which is a seriously football related issue, and return it to the football forum where it belongs?

The avg amount of registered deaths per month in England & Wales in 2019 was about 46000.. ONS.

The arbitrary corona virus related 'death toll' (RIP) that the manipulative media put out daily provides zero context! Like age & whether they had underlying health issues etc

The chances of dying from the corona virus at the moment in the UK are 600,000/1! You've more chance of being killed by the normal flu virus! PHE estimates that on average 17,000 people die from the flu in England annually.

The only thing this entire shambles proves really is how easily the media can manipulate the masses!
