Striker Change?

I think it's about time we gave Freddy a game from the start again and use Smith as super sub. I like the 3 strikers in 90 minutes plan but needs a shuffle imo. Anyone agree? (Recalling Lamy is not a valid response here, nor is saying PW doesn't know what he is doing).

It's a decent call NY but I worry that neither Vassell nor Lapado have the quality of close control to hold up the ball and wait for support to arrive. Although Smith is not deadly in front of goal, he always puts in a good shift and is an excellent target man. On that basis, I'd always play him with one of the others alongside him. Whether that's Lapado or Vassell would depend on the opposition.

There's only Smith we have to lead the line. Not bothered which of the other two plays at the side of him. If we are going to go up I want it automatic. Play-offs are wearing abit thin now. If we are going to finish the season in the top 2 need Lindsay back in a midfield 3. I've said how just play one wide man unless Koroma comes good then play 4-5-1.

We got to the top and had a run of getting 25 points out of the last 30 by playing two up front and two wide players, so personally I don't see the need to change very much. Changes of personnel based on form and fitness yes. Changes to our style of play - why risk it at this stage of the season when it is broadly speaking working well?

At the moment it is Smith plus one, which I can understand because his work rate is phenomenal and he is so important to us in terms of us getting the ball quickly up the field and playing from there.

Having said that the other two both have valid claims for a starting place, and there is no reason to think they wouldn't work well as a pair, and there is a worry that we can't keep relying on Smith to give us 90 minutes in every game.

Its a dilemma, but not a bad one to have.

Jeez!! We've conceded on average one goal a game since New Years Day, hardly leaking loads of goals. We're top of the League with 15 games to go, we're 2nd top scorers in the division yet we STILL get the same unmitigated BS from the same posters.

smiler after Saturday if he can Warney's got to stop playing happy family's. One non full back only if the two bonified full backs aren't available but playing two no. Wide players we've got now. Ogbene not been on his game for a few games. Adelakun not good enough. Koroma needs to get up to speed. We need 3 in midfield with Lindsay getting his foot in. Keep telling you how we do that either play one wide man only or Smith on his own up front. But Wiles is one of Warney's boys so Lindsay will have to go way of Lamy to get games.

It would be 'happy families' and 'bona fide'.

If you are going to troll by repeatedly using phrases that you use to deliberately wind people up, at least spell them properly.

It is incredibly tedious to have to keep reading the same tripe whatever the thread subject is.  But then you know that and you do it deliberately.

How much longer have we got to put up with it?  Is it really the case that you and your alter ego are going to carry on until everyone else has given up and left?  Is it really worth that for you?  As I suggested to your mate, there is help out there and you should probably access it.

IMO

the best combination was ladapo and smith, vassell hit a vein of goals but they seem to have dried up. and playing two up front is a proven working formula . one up front doesnt work end of story smith gets marked out of the game by the two central defenders.

going forwards into next season

the only positions that will need repalcement or cover are

left back
left wing
and another striker

It's not me that needs help. Warney's boys do. But keep blindfold on!

Top of the league, and still it's not good enough. Could you do a better job?

TC if you had been there Saturday you'd have seen too many weak links at both full back positions, nothing out wide & too open in midfield.

We are the Leicester City of League 1, not Liverpool. And your expert analysis from your seat at the NYS is based on nothing other than your rather weird idea that your opinion is more valid than anyone else's, including that of Paul Warne. A mate of mine, top lad, a great centre half who went on to play for Mansfield, Notts County and Macclesfield, before captaining and managing Stocksbridge PS, called me on Sunday about the game, as he generally does, and his version bears no similarity to yours. He said that the failure to win was purely down to the conditions. As an ex-centre half, I prefer his version to your tainted prejudiced version. He is a huge fan of Paul Warne by the way, which, obviously, means that he knows nothing.

TOP of the league is good to be and its very close between the other 6 below us. Not a criticism of Warne but playing wiles at left back for me isn't working. I think apart from Saturday Thompson has taken his chance and played well.

I have said this earlier on this post, why is Vassell getting a start over Ladapo if he was scoring that would be the answer, but he hasn't for the last 3.

Because we don't have a replacement for Smith, he has to be on the team sheet for holding the ball up for our other striker to run onto. We paid good money for ladapo, and he is a goal poacher and leading scorer.

Accrington are going to sit behind the ball playing 541 we need to take our chances and for me ladapo takes them more than often, if he scored every chance he would be a premiership player.
