Gwru, give it a rest mate. I'm not against Lindsay, Lamy or any of your favourites. I'm all for all our players. But your 'see if I'm wrong' posts are looking a bit sick now. You were wrong. Again. Let's face it, we hammered the top placed side and have gone back to the top. We played a formation that you said would never work. We did it with a team featuring nine players who you have written off at different times and who wouldn't be at the club if it was up to you. We did it with a manager who wouldn't be at the club if you had your way. We have won six out of seven league games and done it in a tough run of fixtures. The best you can do is a little bit of grudging praise before you are quickly back onto some of.your hobby horses. We must be doing well because the best moan you've got is that gwru's boys weren't used as substitutes. If I'd got it as badly wrong as you have, I'd be winding my neck in a bit. We will lose games before the season ends - your time to pretend you know best will come again.

I will not be wound up by Stan and Ollie about Mattock. There wasn't a person sat near me last night that didn't see that mattock was having a poor game. His distribution was terrible and his positioning as a full back is horrendous. However we are top of the league and although I do feel PW has a soft spot for mattock all managers have such players. My bigger concern is his back he wasn't fully fit and he will not play all the games this season. Robertson is out with suspected broken foot, Jones is a waste of a wage with his fitness record, so we need two left footed players one a midfielder or forward and one a defender. No excuses on not getting cover in, as failure to do so is a huge risk. The risk of not having someone is far higher than getting someone that may not be the right type of human as it is only until the summer. We need to play the percentages and get cover for that side, to remind you three natural left footed players have left the club this window. Lastly my thoughts are with the Barker family today at the funeral

Cant fault anyone after that performance. Could have and should have been a much more comfortable score line.

Football snobbery was in full flow last night in Lamberts post game interview. Cant get my head round how so many people involved in football dismiss any other style of play that doesn't involve pointless possession between a keeper and defenders.

Derbymiller hasn't got a clue. Mattock was more on his game last night getting forward. smiler Ipswich didn't turn up last night but we gave them the chance to get a point. When you've got somebody on the ropes you finish them off. I know enough about tactics & what our players can do. Players are tiring so not going to create tap ins which is Ladapo's game. You can see he can't run at defenders. Lamy would have been a better option. My opinion. I still say if we go up Lindsay if he's not had enough of sitting on the bench & cleared off he's more a championship player than Crooks. My opinion again.

We all have opinions gwru. Most peoples mine included are just opinions. You on the other hand have an unshakeable belief that you are almost always right. Which you almost always arent. You are almost always proved wrong, but it makes no difference to you. Which is infuriating. On Mattock for what it's worth I partly agree with Derby. Mattock did some good things but his distribution was poor at times and he does have a habit of losing concentration. He got caught napping wrong side near the end and had to take a yellow card to get out of trouble that could have been red if there hadn't been cover coming across. I thought he put in a six out of ten performance.

smiler I'm going to agree with on something. I said Mattock was more on his game last night but he's not up to last season's standards, he hasn't been all this present season. Olosunde looked better at left back than right back but then with Adelakun on the left you have two right sided players. But can't see us getting a left back in this window.

Derbymiller keep on with the comic cuts can't stop laughing with your detailed assessment of Mattock or is it an assassination of one of our better players. He did nothing wrong we are going to need a fit player of his quality where are these players at this time of the season that can be magically parachuted in dream on.

TH Miller are you Stan or Ollie? However they were two separate people where as you and your mate are one person pretending to be two and we have all sussed it. Not my job to find the the club employ a recruitment guy that has done a great job so for although you and your alter ego have done nothing but criticise his recruitments so far. I am not wasting my time discussing mattock with you, I do not think he is one of our better players however you do that is fine we are both entitled to our opinion, well you obviously have two opinions

I personally think we have a wealth of choice at left back. Suspecting that Warne would play Thompson at right back last night, I was wondering if he would stick with Mattock or if he would play Wiles (who did nothing wrong in that position), or Olosunde (who has performed well there previously).

If Barlaser is playing, I don't like to see Wiles playing alongside him. Too similar and get in each other's way. So for me it would be either Barlaser/Crooks or Barlaser/Lindsay, ie. a creative player and a physical presence/breaker up of play.

I can't see either Olosunde or Jones shifting Thompson out of the right back spot, so if Thompson is available, the left back slot can go to Mattock, Wiles, Olosunde, Jones or Robertson (when fit). Suspect Warnie will be spending any available funds elsewhere - probably up front.

I agree with almost all of that Glenn.  We have been stretched there by a freakish series of injuries, not helped by Mattock and Thompson getting suspensions in quick succession, but we now have plenty of options at full-back. Jones is said to be only a week or so away too, which will add to the options. Now that we know that Robertson is out for longer than expected though , we don't really have a naturally left-sided centre-back to come in if Wood gets injured or suspended.  Thompson could no doubt do a job there, and arguably Mattock could move across.  Not ideal though.  I wouldn't be surprised if he brought in a left-sided centre-half in on loan as cover, as well as a left-sided forward.
