He has signed for Blackpool I am relieved about it he didn't want to know about us when he signed for Ipswich. With that injury another dead legs last thing we need I think our manager made himself look a bit silly chasing after him nothing new there.
Read MM not very complementary: Warney/subject. Says Warney he's made himself look a right d*ck. Roth U aren't his experiment to be everybody's friend. Get a grip, man up. That's only two posts there's 20 odd more.
Glennmiller Warney he's been chasing Grant Ward since summer transfer window. Here's a player who didn't want to sign for us after his loan. There's only Warney who wanted him. Once a player makes it clear we weren't good enough for him you don't go back for him when he'**** the buffers. Apart from that he's not proved he's got over a major injury. We've got away with one there.
Agree about PW wanting to be everyone’s pal, won’t always work I’m glad for whatever reason this hasn’t come off despite the constant text messages it was reported Warne was sending.
We already got a couple on decent wages who are never fit, we couldn’t afford to to take the risk with Ward.
There appears to be some major assumptions and very few facts contributing to the assertion that PW has somehow made a fool of himself in pursuing Grant Ward. If I was to put a positive slant on the affair; PW had GW training with us to allow him to judge first hand how well he had recovered from his injury. Knowing how well GW performed for us in the Championship, and appreciating that our midfield requires a creative and experienced addition, PW probably thought that he would be a useful asset.
What no-one knows is what sort of a contract PW was contemplating - a pay/play as you go arrangement would have been sensible.
I don't buy the position that we should avoid him because he rejected us previously. As a professional footballer, he was perfectly entitled and probably wise to look elsewhere at the time - he wasn't ours after all.
A club like ours needs to be creative in the way that it attracts decent players. Sometimes risks have to be taken with useful but injured players - sometimes it will come off, other times it won't. However, if we stop trying we won't go anywhere because one thing is for sure, we don't have the money to buy ourselves promotion.
We certainly need an Adeyemi type player more than we need a Grant Ward type player. Blackpool gave Ward an 18 month deal. I would say that (1) it's a no-brainer for Ward, and (2) it's a risky signing for Blackpool. The fact that another club comes in with a better offer doesn't make it wrong to have tried to get him on our terms. Does anyone think that in the football world today clubs dont know who other clubs are interested in or have training with them? It is just another example of supporters who dont like the manager to start with using any possible excuse to have a go at him.
Adeyemi another dead legs. Got jones most of the time, McDonald all the time stealing a wage. A player like him yes. We need players this window ready to go straight into the side. Don't know how Warney's going to cope if we get any new players telling who he thinks are his bessie mates that they won't be in his match day 18!
It's all about opinions gwru. My opinion is that your final sentence is incomprehensible, incoherent tosh. But that's just my opinion. Rather than dismissing other people's ideas, how about a constructive suggestion - you know, a player who fits your requirements who also fits RUFC's financial criteria.
Gwru, tell me as a matter of fact when Warne ever picked one player over another player because they are his mate. I'm going to suggest to you that as a professional football manager with a conscience and a bit of intelligence whose own livelihood depends on winning football matches, he probably picks what he thinks is the best team week by week. He probably hasnt picked Lamy or Hinds yet because he probably thinks they wouldn't improve the side. That must be a fair assumption unless you can provide any evidence to contrary. Go on, over to you now. You might not agree with him, but you are basically accusing him of dishonesty which is quite a serious allegation to throw around. You give us one - just one - example supported by even a shred of evidence that Warne has ever picked someone because he is his mate.
smiler Warney no doubting him as a person. I think in his way he's trying to keep a close knit unit. I'm not saying in away games when you do need that bit of experience but home games in this league there's times when he could have started with Hinds & Lamy. I personally think they have more to offer than Clarke & Vassell. In Lamy's case with his talent I'd hate to see some other club get the benefit of it.

That's great gwru. That's your opinion. I strongly disagree with you but there we go. No problem with that either way.
Almost every manager talks about needing a close knit group. Wilder has built Sheff Utd on that mantra. Even Evans who I know you liked talked about getting rid of bad apples in his time. Warne is no different, but it gets turned back on him by people whose starting point is that they don't particularly like him.
Are you still saying that Warne picks his 'mates'? If so, have you got any examples or anything to support the idea?

smiler it's not so much picking his mates it's just I like to see progression. If players arn't as good or are getting near to their end of careers than the up coming players I see that as negative.
