OK - you're in charge for the January transfer window and you've got no budget. So you have to sell to be able to afford new players but you can return loanees to be replaced by other loanees. What'ya gonna do?
For me - return Barlaser and Morris. Bring in two powerful replacements in same positions.
Aren't Hastie,Barlaser and Morris on season long loans ? Why would their parent clubs want them back when they're not good enough for Lge 1 ? Wasn't a big Smallwood fan but he could probably fit into our current set-up at this level. Still lives locally i believe.
And that's the million dollar question
Added to the fact the price will be higher for decent players who won't want to lose a player of the calibre we need..another example of my opinion of Warne poor planning in the summer
MacDonald and Jones in this I agree with gwru players injury prone. Yes I agree Warne couldn't predict this
Barlaser can go back, Macdonald & Clarke out on loan.
IN : I'd want 1 x creative midfielder rather than a holding one, but more importantly a cover centre back for when Wood injured (and as others have said maybe a good signing to replace him longer term) and 2 cover full backs for Mattock and Jones (for when injured).
Not much really... I think we mainly have a good squad apart from lack of cover in defence.
I thought Warnes ideas on his January transfer targets were way off beam.He talks about bringing in another winger why? Most of the time he doesn't play the wingers he already has and when he does like at Southend he employs hoof ball tactics and bypasses the wide men. It was obvious at Southend that we needed to get the ball to the wingers to cross into the box instead we had constant long balls soaring over the heads of Smith and Ladapo which played into the hands of the opposition defenders. Balls played in from the wings would have given them a far better chance of affecting the game than the constant long balls dropping over their shoulder. The main transfer target in January should be a ball winning midfielder who can dictate the play, someone in the Stewart Talbot mould and I know players of that calibre don't grow on trees, but in my opinion a player of that sort is essential if we are serious about mounting a promotion push. We already have players capable of scoring goals if they are given the right service which means wingers getting to the byeline and putting good crosses into the box. Enough of the hoof ball or t s play some football.

Sure you can send players back unless it's changed, didn't we send Fry back to Middleborough? I'd be sending Barlaser & Morris back to their parent clubs. Try to sell Vassell. Loan Clarke out. Bring Kayode back & sign another striker. Holding midfielder & Centre back priorities. Can't do anything about Wood & Jones till the end of the season. We're stuck with Mcdonald till end of the following season whose no use to us. Isn't nobody accountable at club for paying wages for nothing?

There was always going to be a huge risk with Macdonald and I said at the time it was a poor addition based on the shocking injury he had just got over.
Agree about the wingers, we’ve got them we just don’t play them so no point bringing another in to warm the bench.
He talks about wingers to change the plan
Look how oxford played right back midfield winger running gets the ball cross striker attempt at goal
Rotherham.right back midfield midfield.lose ball
I'd let McDonald go and Barlasser. If Hastie's loan is up I wouldn't renew it. We need a player in to run the midfield - Wiles isnt doing that for us and his passing is off.
On that totally agree about midfield
But I think Warne should.play 2 proper wings ogbene lamy or hastie and leave wiles.in central midfield
2 up front with crosses for Smith to knock on ladapo
If we have to offload one player to get other players in, Kyle Vassell is one I would move on. The age he is, he needs to be playing and I dont see him getting into the side. He must want games. He has shown flashes of what he could do but it just hasn't worked for him with us. We need an experienced holding midfielder to get hold of games. Barlaser hasn't yet done what they were hoping he would do and MacDonald hasn't been fit. If we could replace him, I wouldn't be sad to see Barlaser try his luck elsewhere. We arent far off being a good side. Weve seen that when we click we can be difficult to handle. That's what I think.
Looking as if Hastie might be going back to Rangers ì would not be surprised if it happened. When he first came here he looked brilliant but it has not worked out. If we are to do some business in January we need to reduce the wage budget. A few more might have to go then it is up to our recruitment team to get some in.
