See who's right. I've never ridden a horse or played football, but I am never wrong. I have bought a small Carribbean Island with my horse racing winnings.
Some Ipswich fans want Lambert sacking because they have lost consecutive games. They were top yesterday but today he is clueless. That's modern day football fans for you. It's a comfort at least to know we aren't the only club afflicted!
We were very good tonight and it could have been even more comfortable with a few of the other chances.
We seem very solid away from home and hard to beat, the home performances are a worry still which is why it wouldn’t suprise me in the slightest if Wycombe end up turning us over Saturday.
But hopefully we can kick on now after a result against a big club who are going to be up there come the end of the season.
I can"t understand some of you on this site we have had a great result enjoy it. It might just be me have a day off from your from your little agendas its party time.
I stand corrected on the team selection dropping hastie and playing wiles back in cm was genius no one saw that coming.
seriously we played well, why didn't we play like that v oxford , crooks was poor and its his inconsistency that annoys me. every player has off games.
onwards to saturday and the beast wonder how we defend against him. hire two sumu wrestlers
Our away form is very decent and after the last few seasons that is great to see. So what isnt working at home, it isnt all about other teams sitting back warne said so himself last saturday. What can we do to improve our home form and be consistent at home?
A very good performance from us last night. They set off on the front foot and Iversen was called on early to make a couple of saves. We then got our first goal and played much more like we did against Coventry. Pressed hard, kept our shape well, had energy out wide in Olosunde and Clarke and the combination of Lindsay and Wiles in the centre can only get better and better. There will be losses on the way but surly we are moving in the right direction when we have such young talent on the pitch and able to beat the top of the league on their home patch .
There were standout performances last night. Smith got himself into good areas and had strong support around him. Again we saw Smith and Crooks pressing their defenders, the return to form of Mattock who seemed to be happier going forward with Clarke in front of him. Last night he hit several telling crosses and had a great game. Ihiekwe and Woods stood firm and handled the high ball which Ipswich resorted to for long periods. Make no mistake this result did not flatter us, after the first ten minutes i cannot remember Ipswich making our goalie work much at all apart from when he came out and stopped a run on goal with his leg. We also created other chances to increase our lead.
One worry for Saturday is can Wood play three games in a week? We have a very able replacement in Robertson if fit but there is a doubt about that. Playing Wednesday gives Wood less recovery time. To all those people who think Wood has no place in our team, you are watching a different player to me. Leads by example and his influence on others was there for all to see last night again. The management team who are clueless apparently, certainly did the homework on Ipswich. Cut them some slack lads. We are a work in progress and have some very good talent available to us.
Just watched EH they had a chance early after that we made the chances. Crooks 1st goal through their keepers legs but his 2nd classic finish from a Wiles pass. We had 2 golden chances Olosunde & Ogbene. Ihiekwe it looked who hit the post. Mattock looked to be crossing well. Can't tell the overall performance but looked a well deserved win.
I honestly think it is just a confidence issue playing at home rather than a lack of ability in the playing squad or anything tactical. Confidence is a huge factor in football whatever the formation etc.
There is an atmosphere of something between expectation and desperation before we kick off in our home games, and if we don't start well and don't score early you can feel the tension and can see the players get edgy. Good players begin to struggle to do the basics properly. You can almost see the players tightening up which impacts on decision making and execution.
Against good sides like Oxford or even average sides who come to defend like Tranmere, we have to try and relax a bit and be a bit more patient than that and trust that if we move the ball around openings will come. Instead we try to force things sometimes.
The players need to be professional and disciplined enough to handle that properly, which is easier said than done but there it is. That is their job. The managerial staff need to try and instill the necessary belief into them. That is their job. Quite a few of our players are relatively inexperienced, which is why the presence of talkers and experienced leaders who have the confidence of the younger players becomes significant.
We as supporters can help by getting behind them a bit more and not grumbling and moaning too much if things don't go our way from the outset and understanding that we are not going to win every game, or even every home game. I have no doubt that the players would be able to relax a bit and play with a bit more freedom if they didn't think they were going to hear murmerings of discontent every time they misplaced a pass or failed to beat the first man with a corner, or get booed off at half-time if (heaven forbid) the other team had the audacity to go in front, as Oxford did with a piece of individual brilliance.
I realise that it is up to the players to give the supporters something to get excited about and I am not saying that the supporters are entirely to blame for the home form, but I do believe that this season our supporters have not been patient and supportive enough and have contributed to a general anxiety at home games that has not been helpful.
Last night looked like we played with two banks of 4 with Crooks behind Smudger. Go with that again just being at home would like to see a natural right wide player. For me would be Lamy. We have options out wide. Crooks was said to be unwell last Saturday must have been recovered last night. One question if there's no other centre back available why isn't Cooper on the bench for one of the strikers. Warney know he's trying to keep players happy. I prefer enough cover on the bench.
We have played 4411 with Crooks behind Smith since and starting with the Coventry game. 'Warney know hes trying to keep players happy' - what the hell does that even mean? If it's a repeat of your theory that Warne is a coward and/or that it's a mates club, ask yourself whether Morris is happy not starting after not doing a lot wrong or whether Hastie or Barlaser would have been happy to be left out and stop with the bullsh1t.
Need cover on the bench for centre back. Can't see point of having 2 strikers on the bench when we only play one up front. Is that bullsh*t! Was different last night 2nd bank of 4 we didn't start with a recognized winger.

Spot on Smiler. we played 4.4.1.1 for the third time last night. The high press was there again last night. I didn't see much of that against Oxford, although they seemed to win every area on Saturday and second half in particular we looked well second best. I quite liked Olosunde in a more advanced right forward role and with Jones behind him, gives a good defensive cover for him to get more forward. As i said earlier Mattock looked back to his best and got some superb crosses in.
How anybody can call Warne a coward is beyond me. At times he has left his biggest signing out, three loan players out and changed formation more than once. For me Lamy is now third in line for the wide right role behind Olosunde and Ogbene. The options are there.
whiston01 have you ever seen Olosunde or Ogbene get a cross in that landed on Smith or whoevers head I haven't. Lamy he has but I don't know anything. As I've just said last night was different, said why.
Youre dead right Whiston - and thanks for the first hand account of the game by the way. Warne made some big decisions last night. If we had lost, the usual suspects would have been piling in. As it is we win and Warne gets some half hearted pats on the back to keep him going until we next lose when no doubt he'll revert to being spineless and clueless. Gwru - who managed to get every aspect of the game wrong - still feels the need to find what he thinks is a negative out of a terrific win and trot out one of his favourite and utterly boring unfounded and ill-informed criticisms. It's absolutely pathetic.
To much talk on this site about systems stop watching spitting Pete and his overpaid mates on SKY it will give you a brain freeze. I'm still buzzing from last night as Arthur Askey used to sing I'm a little bee and you can't catch me showing my age.
smiler I don't agree with a lot of what derbymiller says can see why he finds you irritating. You like sound of your own voice. You trot out these long posts. I don't need them to put my point across. I know what I've seen you'll never change my mind.
