Lamy 2nd H on the right rated. Big strong for a winger kept going. I wouldn't have a problem him starting Saturday. Clarke was involved in two 2nd H goals + our pen but rest of the half not involved much will need more time but showed enough. Cooper did ok. Best thing about these games see who we've got to bring in.
Lamy and Clarke did themselves no harm and both did well.
Worrying we have a knack of switching off for around the first ten/fifteen minutes of the second half. When we get it together and pass and move and get it out wide we look a decent side.
Tonight actually turned into a useful exercise. Competitive minutes for a lot of players who needed them. Only Mattock and Wiles of the players who started last Saturday and will probably start Saturday played the full 90 minutes. I thought Lamy did very well. He was unlucky with a screamer that rattled the crossbar, looked after the ball really well and delivered three or four excellent crosses. Great for Trevor Clarke to score the winner on his debut after such a gut wrenching start to his time here. Good experience for the likes of Cooper and Kayode and no harm in Price getting an outing in case we need to draft him in. I thought Morris was excellent after he moved to the central striker role. His strength and hold up play is exceptional. Shame about the missed pen but a good finish from him for the second goal. The result doesn't really matter but its always better to win than lose. It was quite an open game and a decent watch.
You have to ask yourself the question are you a genuine millers supporter come on this site moan all you like but don't belittle the real supporters who went. I can't make it to away games knackered but I will never knock any one who goes. I thought the turnout by the Rotherham public was poor I go to support the chairman. The bonus was Cooper a big unit only 19 learning his trade one to watch Lamy could be something special hit the bar really good crosser of the ball how Morris failed to score with that header. Clarke impressed won a penalty scored the winner. Taylor came on Lamy could be better than all 4 put together with what we had last season give him another 2 years on his contract before he is snapped up. I can go to bed a happy miller tonight.
I understand your point Brad. I hate the competition and the inclusion of young teams from the big clubs stinks and may be the start of a slippery slope. If I thought boycotting the game would achieve anything I would but I really dont think it would have any impact. I was in two minds about going just because it is akin to a friendly, but for me it was something to do on a Tuesday night and a chance to have a look at a couple of new players I havent seen before (except 10 minutes of Lamy at Parkgate). I dont blame you for your position and totally respect it but I also understand why 2000 did turn up.
All fair points from Brad and Smiler but it did give us a chance to get some game time into some of our players. The down side is an injury to Freddie Ladapo.
Lamy improved in the second half when he played down the right in my opinion. However, he showed he can cut in from the left when he hit the crossbar. He is very much a work in progress and i do not think he will start just yet and is beneath Ogbene in the pecking order for the right wing spot. He could come on as an impact sub at some point soon. Clarke has a bit of pace about him and again he could come on as an impact sub. A good start with a goal and a penalty gain. Kayode is another with pace and can only get better.
Of the others, Barlaser sprays some great passes about and then makes a rick. MacDonald worked hard and took some knocks, but i don't like how players seem able to float past him. A distinct lack of pace in my opinion. Morris looked a different player when moved into a central striker role. We have no need to play him wide left or right now. Ladapo didn't offer a lot but he didn't get the service either. It's a blow if he has an injury that keeps him out for any period. Cooper, did well for a young lad at central defence. Time and games in reserves will help is development. All in all a decent workout and good to see players on the comeback trail. Very disappointed we started with Mattock and played him for the full game when we had Hinds on the bench.
Me disappointed also Hinds didn't play for Mattock. Note to Warney play wingers on there natural side. Lamy wasn't in the game on the left. Looked better in the 2nd half on the right than Forde/Taylor did in 3 seasons with us. I'd have no problem Lamy starting at Blackpool. When Ogbene gets back on the right but he'll have to get the shirt off Lamy. Barlaser played better but I don't know how strong the side was Doncaster had out. Got to stay with 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1. Smith has the lone strikers shirt.
Real supporters TH, really? I'd have a good look at myself if I were you. I am aware that if fans turn up to games in this competition it's up to them but when more clubs like Bury are allowed to die to be replaced by "elite clubs" B teams these same fans would be IMO compliant in allowing or rather condoning this to happen. Make no mistake, the Spanish/German league model is what the FA, EFL & The EPL want & they'll move toward that end in the next few years. Yes they may well get their way but we as fans at least should show our displeasure & this, along with thousands around the country is my way of doing that. UTM!
It is your right not to go Brad, and your reasoning is perfectly sound, but it isn't fair to tell supporters who choose to go that they should be ashamed of themselves. There are other ways for supporters to make their point. As someone else has said the attendances for this competition have always been pathetically low (long before the big teams had young teams in it) but it hasn't stopped a new sponsor coming in to back it, mainly because the results get published in the media and it has a Wembley showpiece final. I personally don't think attendances will have any bearing on it. There are other ways that the big clubs need to be brought into line, like doing something to stop them signing any kid who can kick a ball straight for their academies and having 90 players a season out on loan. If the concern is that clubs like ours will eventually become B teams for the big clubs, that to me is more of an immediate threat than this crap cup competition.
If said "academies" are allowed to infiltrate the English football pyramid as the Greed League bosses want & the majority of EFL club Chairmen are compliant with it seems then the Chelsea's & Man City's of this world would have no reason to loan out so many players. Getting the point yet?

Of course I get the point. I'm not as convinced as you are though that the big boys want 'B' teams in the league pyramid or that it is viable. English football isn't like football on the continent. I agree with you that whether it is what they want or not, it shouldn't be allowed to happen and I don't think it will. On balance I don't think this cup competition is going to make a difference one way or the other and I don't think turning up to watch the matches or not will have any impact one way or the other either.
You skin flints or defects. You can't get it back. Clarke his winning goal more so Lamy 2nd H.
Brad and I may have a difference of opinion about the threat that the big clubs and their youth teams pose to the traditional football pyramid and how best to tackle it, but I suspect that we will share the view that your response is simply idiotic. Well done.
