Put wood in hole another world class performance where would we be with out him winning headers blocking shots tackles my star man today. At last something to cheer hope it is the start of good times coming back to NYS. Everyone had a good game today if that Wiles effort had have gone in it would have been the goal of the season.

Best performance of the season by a country mile, even Stadler & Waldorf would be struggling to complain about that. Ike, Lindsay, Crooks, Wood, Smith & Wiles outstanding.

We played 4.4.1.1 today Gwru with Crooks the advanced midfield player, and he had a great game. You really must have a downer on Wood if you cannot see what he brings to our side. Leadership, strength, organisational skill and a very tough competitor. Of course he lacks pace but so does the man he replaced.

Today we played a high pressing game and they struggled to build up from the back. Smith plays the lone striker well but i just wish sometimes he would be more selfish and gamble on getting on the end of crosses more. However, only his hardest critic would say he didn't play well today. Lindsay is developing into a very solid midfield player and Wiles looked more on it today and had some lovely runs. I still have to be won over by Barlaser but he showed at times he is capable of finding a good pass, he is also capable of making a bad one as well. As his confidence builds i expect him to play a big part in our season.

Coventry looked toothless in attack and some of their passing out of defence was alarming at times. You can only beat what is in front of you and today i think it showed we are well capable of challenging for a top six place. Our problem is consistency at the moment, but please don't forget this is a young developing side and i still expect a roller coaster ride of a season. To all you Warne/Barker knockers give them a chance to develop this team. I just have a hunch you won't be disappointed come the end of this season.

Coventry weren't a good test. I don't know what Robertson did wrong. If JCH gets 1st run on any defender in league 1 none would stop him.

Robertson at fault for the last two goals we have let in Gwru. One at Sunderland and one at Bristol Rovers. That might be why he picked Wood today. Also Wood Wood still brings a lot to the table as i said in my previous post. You would have slaughtered Wood if he had been at fault for those two goals. Robertson will get his chance. It's all about squad depth. That was the first time Coventry had lost today so the table suggests it was a good test. However, on today's showing i do not think they were very good at all. I am not sure this is a great league though.

"Coventry weren't a good test"?. They are fourth in the division. Would it pain you to once in a while praise the management and players? You were exactly the same after the 6-1 v Bolton. We learnt nothing from that were your words. By the way, were you wrong about Crooks?

You also said get Parkinson in TH. Is that still what you think or will you bring that up the next time we are beaten. You will get your chance because this is a roller coaster ride. Just sit back and enjoy it .

Still think that but if Warney gets us winning games you are entitled to hit me round the face with a wet kipper. I just want to see a successful team.

Excellent performances all round the field today. Smith in his natural position was outstanding and he had great support from Crooks. At last we had an exciting performance for 90 minutes with lots of attempts on goal and lots of energy to close down Coventry. The fact that Coventry came to play football allowed Rotherham the opportunity to exert their quality on the game and they were far superior in all aspects. My only disappointment was Barlaser, who seems to be lightweight, easily knocked off the ball and short on confidence. My man of the match by a distance was Lindsey - great energy and cool in possession. If we continue to play this type of formation, I worry that Lapado is going to be surplus to requirements - perhaps if we string a few wins together and get our wingers fit, he will fit in when we play a more attacking formation.

Well done PW and the boys - we showed the only unbeaten team in the League that we're a force to be reckoned with.

Onwards and upwards.

Missed it too derby, the last game I missed was Bolton home game.

I am therefore quite rightly banned from future home games  biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Mods need to ban 'GWR' or we totally ignore any further posts, it's way past being funny...

Obviously a great win against a good side. Although we worked hard to force mistakes Coventry were suicidal in the way they gifted us three of our goals which helped. We weren't significantly better today than we were against Lincoln but importantly today we got the first goal and had the rub of the green. There is still plenty to work on. I like Olosunde a lot and he may turn out to be worth big money if he keeps improving but his defending is very naive at times. We have to remember that he is learning on the job. Barlaser was still unconvincing and just looks short on confidence. He can obviously play. Our final ball was generally poor. Lots of positives as well though and a job well done. For the Warne/Barker critics out there I have a point to make. Not about the tactics (which clearly worked) but about courage. Can you imagine the stick that Warne would have got for playing one up front at home if we had lost? He would have known that too. Leaving your top scorer and record signing on the bench to play that way isn't an easy thing to do when you are under a bit of pressure. He has been called a coward of a manager but time and time again has shown with selections and a willingness to change tactics/formations in big games that nothing could be further from the truth. Whiston is right as he usually is - there will be twists and turns but if we get behind this group there is every chance they could do well.

Look what happens when we play on the front foot.

People were taking more risks and trying to make things happen unlike previous weeks. Hopefully that’s got everyone’s confidence up and we push on now.

Keep playing like that and not many in league one will be able to hadle it.

smiler downer for me seeing Wood back in the side, going backwards. Tell me any defender in league 1 that could cope with the strength/pace of JCH. Get a right winger fit we'll be more potent an attacking force. I've been saying all season get Smudger on his own up front but I don't know anything according to most on here. Didn't rate Coventry at all. I'm going to the Doncaster game Leasing.com trophy tues. Hoping to see Hinds Lamy Clarke.

So warne is bold in his team selection and we do well, when he bottles it in terms of team selection and subs we dont do well mmmmm so all the people that criticise him for not being bold on more occasions are right then. Also it is the players you select not just the formation that can make a 451 be attacking or defensive , clearly playing hastie and wiles to support smith from wide positions is a more attacking lineup. Yes so credit to warne for being bold, keep it up

Apart from one slip up, Wood had a fabulous game yesterday. It's plain to see that in League One he is very comfortable and the leadership he brings to the side is invaluable.  However, the only unbeaten side in the League weren't a good test but don't worry, Donny in the Mickey Mouse cup on Tuesday will give us a far sterner test and a clearer picture of where we stand in terms of quality!
