We played well overall small differences between the teams. They tactically changed the game and won, PW only does like for like subs, he has to learn how to change a game.

Not concerned about going out of the cup tonight my main worry we couldn't score again. That's the third home game we have not scored .I think the next home game is a must win give the supporters a bit of hope. Not going to pull the team down still not happy with 433 hope we can get a couple of wide players in

Hope that's the end of the for us the dreadful 4-3-3. Vassell must play different when I see him, not seen him bring anything to the side in the last 2 home games. Barlaser best I've seen him play for us. Ihiewke would say our best player on the night. I'd like to see Lindsay start. Just feel he could be better than Crooks. Hope Mattock he's fit to resume at left back. Why play Robertson out of position if he is. Hope at least one of these wide men are in for Saturday preferably on the left.

Even a weakened Wednesday have a lot of good players and it was a pretty even game - probably we were shading it - until the substitutions. I don't think anything changed tactically. It seemed to me that we took Barlaser and Crooks off with half an eye on Saturday (I thought Crooks was probably our best player on the night), but in Kadeem Harris, Barry Bannon and the other one (what a plonker!) they were able to add high quality that upped their game, and we lost our way a bit. The goal was (sadly) coming. We did alright though for the majority of the game, played some decent stuff and can count ourselves unfortunate. We had to take our chances though when they came and we failed to do so. I'm not one bit bothered about going out of the cup, just a shame it had to be to them. Bad news was seeing Olosunde (who was good again) struggling towards the end. We could do with him being fit for Saturday,

Time to move Proctor on for me. Not his fault with the injuries but he’s come on again for twenty minutes and not touched the ball, looks weak and slow.

We did ok tonight, didn’t deserve to get beat but with a supposed attacking formation we aren’t creating anywhere near enough chances.

Agree with a lot of whats been said. We were easily the best team in the first half but you have to take your chances when they come. Ladapo should have buried that chance he had. In the second half they brought on a bit of quality and they had the lions share of the game.

I thought Ihiekwe and crooks were our best players and Barlaser for twenty five minutes looked really good. However, again he faded and looked a bit light. I just hope Olosunde is able to play Saturday as he is doing a great job at right back. I have to agree with Gwru about Robertson, he has to play in the centre of a back four because any wide man with any pace will give him major problems.

I thought the first half showed the 4.3.3. system can and will give problems to any side, especially when you have midfield men who can drive you forward and see a pass. Barlaser, Crooks and at times Wiles all showed their worth. Vassell is a marmite player, tonight he looked lacking a first touch and Ladapo was well marshalled by the excellent Bates. A lot of positives to take from tonight and i fully expect a three point haul from Saturday.

I thought it was an enjoyable cup match. We dictated the first half as much as they did the second. I’d like to see a few of our midfielders chancing their arms from outside the area and we need more composure in the opposition box - Vassell, Smith and Lapado were all guilty of poor decision making when goal scoring opportunities presented themselves.

Finally, a big thumbs up for the Ref. Best I’ve seen at NYS!

433 is dead we need some width Ì just felt we were slow we just need to take teams to task. Ì just want to see a team with some balls saw a few bits and pieces to be honest we were very ordinary. Still I wish we can improve.

Crooks ok but as I've said I'd like to see Lindsay start. Just feel he could offer more. We can't get Smith & Ladapo into the game with Vassell not contributing hardly anything. Got to get Robertson back in his best position at left centre back. Agree with C Proctor move on. Macdonald another signing like Potter & Jones before him past their sell by dates.

Lindsay looked bright again same as he did at Burton think he probably deserves a start on Saturday.

Regarding putting Robertson back at CB who would you drop? Wood has played very well since he has come back into the side and the back four looks a lot more organised.

Wood will have to make way. Robertson better. I'd bring Kayode back. Got to be better than Proctor. Morris looks a sick note. I'd start Lindsay Saturday in place of Crooks or Wiles.

You'd bring Kayode back??? Based upon your "go to home games, mean all" mantra, you have seen him make a five minute substitute appearance at the New York Stadium in a meaningless game against Man City under 21's. You have been bleating about us having too many forwards, you have no understanding of the terms of his loan to Gateshead, but yet you want to add an untried, untested 18 year old to the squad. You get dafter with every passing day.

I totally agree with Top Cat here. Kayode is very much a work in progress and is gaining valuable experience at Gateshead. He has played a handful of games and scored a late winner in one of them i believe. He has been subbed in his last couple of games and is finding Vanarama National League North a tough ordeal. Hopefully it will toughen him up and he will come back better for the experience.

Proctor is struggling to make any impression in our games but he is an experienced pro with an eye for goal. Whether the ability is still there is open to question. I also believe he has been carrying a slight knock so lets give him a little more time before throwing him to the wolves. No way should he be loaned out because the squad is thin enough as it is.

Warney he's same as last season keeps playing same players who aren't good enough. Forde Taylor [ for us cause Warney didn't play him right, he's not a winger. With a good right back which we didn't have last season he'd do a job ] Newell. Now he's playing Wood instead of Robertson, no proper left back. Not starting Lindsay. Keeps playing Vassell whose shows nothing. Then brings Proctor & Mcdonald on both may as well be sat with me. Kayode looked to have more to offer then Proctor & Vassell to me. Cooper looks promising like Hinds but Warney won't give them a go in a game that didn't matter. But I don't go to games according to some. Believe what you want.

Agree that result didn't matter too much, we didn't get stuffed by a mid table championship team and could have won. Like some others have said, I've still yet to see how our new formation creates chances for the abundance of strikers we now have, I hope that improves as the players get used to it and each other. Can't fault any player last night. Come on Miller's let's have a home win on Saturday. Utm

I swore to myself I wouldn't do this gwru but your last post is so ridiculous it's really got my goat.

Robertson is temporarily playing at left back because Hinds isn't ready yet (he was loaned to a team in the National League North - that is his level at the minute), Mattock is carrying a knock and Clarke suffered a freak injury on the same day he signed. A very unfortunate series of events. Wood hasn't let anybody down and Robertson has done ok as a stand in left back. I think everyone is well aware that it is a temporary situation to cover a short term emergency.

Proctor and MacDonald are both good experienced professionals. Whether Proctor will ever get back to his former glory we will have to see, but he has got something to offer. MacDonald and Lindsay both need time. They are being introduced bit by bit. It is called management.

Vassell wasn't great last night. I think Mrs Vassell must have chosen MOTM. At Burton though he was head and shoulders our best forward and at Wimbledon he played really well. According to reports he was also very good at Shrewsbury. You might not have seen him have a really good game yet this season, but he has had them. You've just not been there to see them.

You wrote Crooks off last season after half a game, since when he has shown what he can do. You wrote Olosunde off after one pre-season friendly, and I think most now agree that we have a real prospect with him. You also wrote Barlaser off after one pre-season friendly, but last night I think he showed against good opposition that he has got something.

Morris looks a sick note? He got a head injury winning a header to set a goal up. It was about the bravest header you will ever see, and on the back of it you have him down as a sick note.

You think you can judge a player after 45 minutes, but you constantly get it wrong because you either ignore or don't understand or are too stubborn to acknowledge that all players are human beings. Their form fluctuates. They take time to settle in and develop at different rates. They get injured from time to time (very few professionals are ever 100% fit). We have a squad to account for all of that and the manager does what he is there to do - he manages.

smiler Warney he's so lucky to have a tame chairman now like TS. But I've got to admit who's out there. Phil Parkinson I've always rated him at this level but is he a Rotherham United type manager? Saturday if Mattock isn't fit why not give Hinds a go. I can't understand it he looked ok against Man U under 21's & they'll be better than most sides we'll be playing this season.

I'm not a fan of any of Proctor Mcdonald Vassell. Bring nothing to the side, never will. There's just something about Lindsay, he needs to start but Warney same as last season won't not play certain players. We've just signed Ogbene a right winger, get him straight in. Lay to rest that horrble 4-3-3. Yes I would bring Kayode back. He showed enough when seen this season, can only improve. Proctor Vassell can't.

Spot on as usual Smiler. Macdonald will cover for Barlaser in the holding role. It looks to me like Barlaser is well capable of playing above this level and his range of passing is a joy to watch. I still believe some of the more agricultural midfielders can get at him and that's where Warne will do his managing and bring him off. MacDonald hasn't got his skill but i thought last night he did ok when they were in the ascendancy and he didn't flinch in the thick of the battle.

Vassell has not looked great at New York but as you alluded to was probably our best player at Burton and up there at Wimbledon. Crooks is the first name on the team sheet for the midfield spot. Big,strong, can carry the ball forward and has an eye for goal, i just wish he would shoot more often. Wiles is benefiting from a run in the team and has to stay in the side. He is raw ,but again can carry the ball forward well. His decision making will improve as he gets more game time. Give Lindsay more time before he gets his full start.

The three forwards have only had a handful of games and at times they look to get in each others way. As the season goes on i am sure we will see a potent attacking force, whether it be 4.3.3, 4.2.4 , 3.5.2 or any other formation. I believe we have five forwards (if Proctor still has it) who would get in any squad in our division.

We have to be patient, hope the new players arrive and i am sure they will add quality to an already decent squad. If it's the Brentford winger we are after. He is somebody who is right footed but likes to play on the left (not sure Gwru will like that). If that is the case, i can see him forming a good relationship with Mattock. Lets not forget about Lamy or Clarke who are also wide men. I am still confident of a high finishing position

Agree Whiston and Smiler's posts. We shouldn't forget that Wednesday's defence is class and we won't come up against that quality every week in League One. On the subject of team selection/resting players etc - I think PW's team selection last night was perfectly understandable and showed that he wanted to give his best players a run out after a substantial break but that he wasn't prepared to risk Mattock who will be key on Saturday. Lindsey looks a bit raw to me but I'm sure he'll develop. If he'd have got his shot off before falling over himself, I might have been more impressed!

Most of you it was mostly Wednesday's 2nd 11. Last season we should have beat their 1st choice side at the new York by a couple of goals at least. That was less than 6 months ago so shows we are nowhere near as strong. You all keep keep the Warney love in. I'm not poor team selection last night. Missed opportunity to try some players out in a game that will have no bearing on our season.
