BURTON TODAY

The weather is set fine, there should be around 1700 Millers' fans in attendance and the team should be feeling confident following our midweek 0-4 victory. With a break after today's game, due to the Portsmouth debacle, I expect PW to extract every last joule of energy from his players. The way we play, I can't see us playing out many draws this season and I suspect today will either be a victory or a defeat. Any positive result at Burton will be a real achievement but a defeat, as long as it is accompanied by a good display, won't be the end of the world.

PW has his eye on a new CB and 2/3 possible wingers. If they come off, we'll be well set for a top 6 finish and an entertaining season.

Good luck to all those travelling today and I hope you have lots to cheer about!

Onwards and upwards!!

I hope we win today and Warne get the players to sign on the dotted line as I'm fed up hearing the usual waffle on why we didn't sign a b c

Yes. Not set off yet but in the starting blocks.

Happy if my man woody gets a pole position.

I agree the performances are crucial but I'm expecting a win. Will take a draw.

Top six reality is we have to believe we can win each game

Whatever the result I'm glad I'm not there. I don't want to see Wood anywhere nr the 1st team. 4-3-3 with no width isn't football to me.

Good result and another clean sheet, no clean sheets for 21 games 2 clean sheets with no mattock interesting. Get some players in over next 10 days and see how we go

Looking forward to the first hand reports from Ian and Smiler who were both at Burton I think. Surprised we haven't heard from the Grim Reaper yet - oh wait - we didn't lose so he'll be sticking pins in a Warne doll!

It's not like me to brag Richard Wood plays 2 games 2 wins my drum banging might have worked. Poor gwru got it wrong as did I but I did predict that if woody plays more chance of a win. Sounds by all accounts we rode our luck today they hit the woodwork twice and had a good penalty appeal turned down. Warneys a lucky boy 2 week break if he gets his 2 wide men in plus a centre half in. A few injuries sort themselves out and the opportunity to get some proper training in at last with a full squad.Just maybe we could have a reasnable season.

TC I can't work any enthusiasm up for this. We are in a lower league & we are hanging on. We should be playing the beautiful game at this level. But I've not been so can't comment on the game.

gwru - the least you could do is show some appreciation that we've actually won our third consecutive away game. I genuinely believe that you would have been happier if we had lost today.

Just back from from Burton. A scrappy sort of game. We started 433 and he changed after an hour to a 442 with a midfield 'diamond. Burton are a decent side so it's a great 3 points but we were far from dominant and there is still work to do. The ball didnt stick well enough with the front men and we didnt look after it well enough. We grew stronger as the game wore on and if anything it looked like we would get a second then we had a near miss in injury time when a screaming volley from them hit the bar. We were hardly hanging on though. I suspect Wood played because Mattock isn't fully fit. Wood was outstanding. His block of a goal bound effort in the first half and a crunching last ditch tackle in the second show what he can still bring. He might not be the quickest but there is nobody stronger or braver. The new keeper is very solod. In fact the entire defensive unit was pretty sound. I thought Wlies was very good and Lindsay looked a good player when he came on. The other stars today were an inflatable cow and an inflatable dinosaur. Why they were bouncing round the away end I've no idea, but it added to the fun. A good sized vocal following and always good to see the Millers win away. Three away wins in a row and gwru who hasn't been to any of them still wants to have a moan. Unbelievable really. This isn't an easy division to get out of and we are doing ok. We'll be better still when we settle and maybe add a couple more players.
