I share your concern about Mattock as captain Derby. Personally I rate him as a better player than Putrington but not much in it. He isn't very vocal though and his discipline hasn't always been exemplary. Personally I'd give the armband to Robertson. For me he leads by example, talks well and is an automatic pick in the first eleven.
I listen to people who can think ahead. I don't people stuck in the past or just stuck were they are. That's why I don't listen to Ronnie Moore or Warney. See how the season pans out. See who's right. Time for Warney to give us more chance of success. Transfer window not closed for a few weeks.
Derbymiller hope we don't change the side back you say. You having a laugh. Mattock he's got to come back. Robertson back at CB for Wood. I'm hoping we stick with the midfield 3 from tonight. We at last get a wide left player in but I'm not holding my breath. Smudger & Ladapo up front.

Mattock for me was the most consistent player ĺast season anyone who thinks differently are living in a dreamworld. When he is fit he walks into this team .As for signings owt happening we need bòlstering no depth in the squad. See Wiles played ĺast night as I have told you build the team around him.
Glad to see the 433 for most of the game and it was simple a much more effective clinical display. Got such an excellent start and kept it going . little way back then for shrewsbury.
Everyone looked sharper and more concentrated than Saturday. Losing Robertson in the centre did not seem to weaken us at all. funny that after looking oh so vulnerable at set pieces on Saturday we then look like giants, making timely runs and not neshing any challenges. maybe it was the expectation at NYS. hope its out of their system.
and yes, Woods can still do it at this level. Iv lost count of the amount of times hes got back in the side played very well and given realy strength to us as a team before being unceremoniously dropped . Anyway, no worries. The 433 shows it can be a strong weapon and the strikers and attacking intent is clearly one we can have in our tactics bag.
Good stuff and a welcome return to form from Saturdays disappointment
....oh and MOM by a yard of sheer space must be Vassell. so pleased to see him as he is, rather than the seasons of limping, stuttering performances before being eventually lost to the treatment room. well don sir!

I weren't there but one swallow doesn't make a summer. Nigel Clough & Burton will give us a lot more to think about. Been reading on MM from people who went said Smith when he came on played more central up front. Still think we are relying on Vassell to give us width, can't see him doing that enough if at all. Priority to me is to get a proper left wide player in. Wood to me is the last resort. Let him run his contract out & get shut along with Jones.

That's two swallows we have seen now on our travels gwru, but I agree with you that one swallow doesn't make a summer. By the same token would you agree with me that one poor performance doesn't spell disaster? And how does that sit with your claim that you can judge a player based on one quick viewing?

Best goal of the night woody's took it like the seasoned pro I told you we are going to need him. What does our manager do after last weekend's pathetic performance put the main man in and bingo. I agree the match at Burton will be a lot sterner test see how we go. After that game looking as if we will have a couple of week break surely we have to tweek the squad bring in some width and get a few of the injuries back.

Great result yesterday. Not a fan of midweek games or cup games but great to have one this week to put Saturday behind us.
When we win the next two matches that will be 4 wins from 5 in first team games (man u was a reserve team) and an excellent start. Right on track for our fourth successive promotion in season's outside the chamionship.
I must commend Richie Barker on his coaching. He's obviously seen our poor away record over recent years and worked all summer on a formation that can win away games. The man's clearly a tactical genious and i hope we have a plan for replacing him when he gets poached as part of Southgate's backroom team.
Or am i just over reacting to one result ? 😉
smiler I like you positive posts. You ask how do I judge a player on one quick viewing. Saw Judd Trump when he was 15 playing Sean Murphy in the world snooker championships thought here's a world champion of the future. He had to slow his game down only a few seconds a shot but he got there. 1st time I saw Vaulks knew we'd got a good player. I get it wrong ie Bailey-King Dom Ball. Opposite way round Olosunde came on leaps & bounds after 1st game I saw him. Crooks & Vassell I'll be surprised if they shine with us but they are Warney's boys so they'll be given every chance.
Thanks Glenn. Some very good flowing football on view, particularly for the first goal and the chance that ended with the keeper saving from Smith. Nice one.
Very brave from Morris. He must have known he was going to get clattered there but was determined to win the ball. He was decent when he was introduced on Saturday too. Hope he is ok for Saturday. I think he will offer plenty for us as the season gets going.
Just watched the highlights. Can't take that serious. Our goals wouldn't say they came from any good football. Welcome win but need more.
You must have watched the wrong highlights. In the ones I saw there were six one touch passes in a move that started in our own half to get Vassell in on goal for the first, good high pressing for the second and a good far post cross and strong header for the third (one of the benefits of having a big man coming in from a wide area). I also saw a slick one-two and beautifully weighted pass from Olosunde to get Smith in for a shot that the keeper saved with his feet. If you've seen the same highlights as me then your idea of good football and mine are apparently very different.

So your expert assesment based on watching the goals, because that was the content of the highlights, is that the Millers weren't all that, when posters on here who went and watched 90 minutes, were all saying what a great response it was. You had already decided that it was a poor performance because Warne had the temerity to play 4 3 3 and no-one wide left, Which, obviously would never work, your opinion being based on your vast amount of managerial experience. Someone did call you as thick as porcine excrement, which I thought was over the top, although you do seem to have carved a niche for yourself as the village idiot. And by the way, Judd Trump didn't play in the World Championship until he was 17, not 15.
Iv'e told you before Gwru about getting your facts correct. Trump beat James Wattana in 2007 in the final Qualifying round at the 2007 world championships to become the third youngest player to reach the main stage of the tournament (Hendry and O'sullivan were younger). He lost 10-6 to Murphy who he'd led 6-5. He was then 17
Stick to Nh racing and football tactics, team selection and judging players on merit. something you are good at.
