Wood I'd move on tonight play him cause we aren't going to have a cup run. smiler Mattock surely can't play tonight. Olosunde he's our right side at the moment so wouldn't risk him in a game that doesn't really matter. We haven't got nobody who can play wide left Wiles or Lindsay play either there. Pointless how we played Saturday especially wide left.

Mattock not playing Wood CB Robertson LB. Price in goal. Wiles Barlaser Crooks in midfield. 3 up front but no option really. Surprised Lindsay isn't starting. How are we going to see if he's good enough.

Not going well gwru. Millers 3-0 up with two goals from players on your get shut list is that a little bit of egg on your face?

TC doesn't change nothing. We couldn't hack it against Lincoln. Need some width especially on the left.

It's getting worse - Wood makes it 4-0 - Warne out - get wingers in - 4-3-3 will never work. So that's 3 serious competitive games we've played and we're 2&1. Can we at least agree that the current players, formation and management deserve at least a chance to prove their worth?

BTW - the Shrewsbury line up is far from a second string side.

Look at the scores tonight Barnsley were 3 down at home to Carlisle. Can't go on the Caribou cup. Wood scored you going to say next keep him in the side. Nothing's changed.

You're correct gwru - nothing has changed - 4-3-3 is here to stay until it is proved wrong!

Nothing's changed. 4-3-3 won't get us anywhere. League what matters.

I see Lincoln also beat the dross of Huddersfield tonight, looks like they are having a very lucky run against such poor opposition of late. Oh wait, maybe Lincoln have got their setup right, and managed to beat teams with some energetic pressing, which have put the likes of Rotherham and Huddersfield off their strides..........

Stop talking ****e gwru for crying out loud.  Wood scored two goals in the most important game in our recent history.  Are you going to tell us that game didn't matter?

I've not been so I will not go over the top.  I also said before the game that I wasn't too bothered about this result. This was a more important game than the mickey mouse one against man utd under 23's, but still only the Carabao Cup against a Shrewsbury team who shuffled their own pack.

What was important though was that we played well and got some pattern into our play.

I tend to listen to what people like Ronnie Moore say, and here are the key things I took from his expert summary on Radio Sheffield:-

1. He rates all of our new signings, particularly Olosunde.

2. He can't see any reason why 433 wouldn't work.  It might take a bit of time but the movement in midfield and up front tonight was good and it will cause the opposition all sorts of trouble when we get it right.

3. Woody can still do a job at this level.

4. We played very well.

We have now played three meaningful games and have won two of them, both away from home.  We aren't a bad side at all.  After two games league games last season Luton had one point, and they ended up winning the league.  Saturday's game is more important than tonights.  Fingers crossed for it.

What we need to be as supporters is a bit patient.  When we win a game it doesn't make us world beaters, and when we lose a game we shouldn't be too quick to write players off and demand that heads roll.  Can we get behind them and see if we can build up a head of steam?

You need to have a word with Ronnie by the way gwru. He has clearly lost the plot.  If only he knew as much as you he might have carved out a career in football.

Can only be good for confidence against another league one club.

Richard Wood played his way back into the side and a clean sheet.

Well done lads.

Ronnie Moore he's toeing the line. I don't listen to him. You can all say what you want 4-3-3 Warney thinks he can get away with it in this league. You won't against the better sides. Richard Wood didn't look so clever against Man U under 21's. I look forward not back.

You don't listen to anybody gwru.  Moore isn't shy about speaking his mind. He is pretty even handed. To coin a phrase, he has forgotten more about football than you have ever known.  He might not always get it right, but given a choice I would trust his judgment over yours a million times over.

Are you suggesting that King Ronnie has some kind of drug fetish?

Great result tonight glad he dropped mcdonald i wasnt impressed with him saturday, a bit of competition for his place may raise his game. First clean sheet in 21 games I believe so that is great news, no mattock either , not convinced with him as captain and I still think purrington was a better option long term. Shame Morris got injured I think he is going to be a great signing if we can get him fit. Overall a great result I hope we can build on this for saturday and don't just change the team back, some sort of balance may be the better option.

Said it before.

Formations are for the media. In any game of football the formations change all the time. 4-3-3 is not 4-3-3 all the time. We lost to Lincoln because Smith cant score, we schoolboy error fell asleep on 2 set pieces and we couldn't string 5 passes together and played as individuals. At Wimbledon it was utterly different - we looked like a good footballing side that just needed time to polish. Haven't seen the game tonight so can't comment - however after Satdi we needed a win and a good morale boosting and belief inducing performance and on the face of it - it appears we have it. Obviously it is down to business again on Saturday.
