Just popped up on the site we all believe Twitter our manager is looking for wingers. As I said the panic button has been pressed a bit late . What happened to all this training why the hell didn't he resign Williams àny fool could see we needed him plonker.
Now in the free agent pot for centrebacks as well we had one in Dom Ball we also had a left back, both are good enough for the championship but not good enough for little old rotherham, perhaps they had some fight and aggression in them and didnt respond to the new age management approach. We do not need nice people we need winners. The ability and desire to win at all costs should come first, PW wouldnt have had billy bremnar, gerry gow or roy keane in his team and that cannot be right.
You don't seem to have a good word to say about Warne do you Derby. Dom Ball good enough for the championship!. He hasn't kicked a ball for Q.P.R yet and at Aberdeen played holding midfield most of the time when he was picked. Mattock was in the top three players for us last season so Purrington moved to where he could get a game. Let's see if he can hold the place down all season. He has done well at Charlton so good luck to the lad. Mattocks form didn't dip last season so would never have got a kick at left back if he had stayed with us.
I am not going over old ground about Williams. This season he is on the treatment table similar to what he did at Barnsley. Let's hope he gets fit and flatters to deceive at Portsmouth.
Team spirit is so important in any team game. One bad apple can soon sour the team. Players like Fisher, Broadfoot and Halford were moved on because they couldn't buy into it or thought they were much better than the rest. Gerry Gow used to turn up on a Friday at Carlton Park hotel, get plenty of beers down him and leave the room in a sh** tip. The then Rotherham manager called him man Friday because thats the only day he saw him bar match days. Do we really want players like him. Liability on and off the pitch. Not for me i will stick with the so called green tea drinkers and decent people we have now. Our club is in good hands with Paul Warne. A decent hard working man who holds the ethics i believe everybody should have. We have lost one game and you are building the scaffold Derby. Give the management team a chance. Surely they have earned the right to manage till christmas
The problem we have isn’t a lack of wingers. Bar Ladapo our forwards are too similar for the system we are trying to play.
I think we need to try 3-5-2 with Mattock and Olosunde as our wing backs and dare I say bring Richard Wood into that back three with Robertson and Ihiekwe. Whatever people think of Wood he brings leadership and talks to others around him on the pitch.
People on both MM & MB doubt me but in the end I'm usually proved right. Warney's style of management were he only wants good human beings reading speeches out won't produce hardened players. We look at the moment weak as water out there. I like a player with abit of an attitude. I've got an attitude I think I'm the best horseracing tipster on either of these sites in fact I know I am but I'm lawabiding but I like a drink but I'm no trouble. In the real world were I've worked all my life you have to work with people you don't particularly like but you just get on with it. You can't wrap up players in cotton wool, it's the real world out there. You were on about Gerry Gow drinking on the pitch he produced. Mick Gooding he liked a drink I've seen that myself but he was a better player than we have now. It's on the pitch that matters & at the moment we are all over the place, you can't argue with that.
Bloody hell we've lost one match, and one where we had 5 times as many chances as the opposition too. After last week we were all buzzing and the debate was about whether to go to the nothing trophy game - now it's PW head on a plate. If a couple of those early chances had gone in then we wouldn't be on here ripping PW and his team to pieces; we would be debating whether it's play-offs or straight promotion. We do have very fickle fans.
Unfortunately there is a vocal minority who will want every manager who doesn't pick their favourite players and loses two games in a row sacking.
There are also clearly a number who never have and never will see Paul Warne as any thing other than a fitness coach hired on the cheap and who resent the fact that he isn't one of the experienced managers who shuffle around from club to club every year or two, and who are quick to jump on him as soon as anything doesn't go according to plan.
Social media sites like this one, twitter etc that give voices to people like me/us a virtual megaphone to shout through many supporters are very, very quick opportunity to vent their spleen. Far too many people demand instant success and are far too quick to call for heads to roll, and it builds pressure on Chairmen who want to keep the masses happy. One of the sad facts of life is that the majority with extreme opinions are the ones who tend to shout loudest.
For me, last time we were in this division he did an incredible job to turn around a sinking ship and take us straight back up. During that season we played 451, 442 and 433 at different times when needed. In the playoff semi we dplayed 451 with success in both legs to beat Scunny and played 442 at Wembley to beat Shrewsbury. Talk of inflexibility, lack of tactical awareness, no track record etc is rubbish. For me he also did a very good job last season in the fact of a massive challenge. Yes, he has made mistakes and will get things wrong in the future no doubt. He is humble enough to say so. But he has done a good (not perfect but good) job so far, and the idea that Warne or anyone else for that matter should be sacked two games into the season because we lost one of them is ridiculous. Just ridiculous.
I have no issue with warne being manager at the moment. I do have issues with this do goody goody approach and the quality of coaching. But he loves the club and is rotherham through and through and that is enough for a lot of fans, but fans are fickle and they will turn if we are not in the top 6 by December. I do not rate him or barker but i do not run the club so all i can do is comment on what i see that is the purpose of these sites.
So we all fall in line with Warney's goody two shoe approach regardless of performances. I'm not change it or go or be removed as manager. Once we get into September a new manager can't change anything. Let's get the revolving door back. Send Wood Macdonald Vassell Proctor through it 7 coming our way. 2 Defenders 2 Midfielders 2 wingers 1 forward

I put this through Google Interpreter but it came back saying it didn't recognise Gobbledygook! gwru - you do line yourself up to be shot down - but I think this is deliberate. You may, in your mind, be correct most of the time but with posts like this you come across as a bit of a chump - and you had the temerity to call Hillsborough clueless!!
Sticks & stones. Warney's men are getting rattled. If I couldn't do better job than our head of recruitment then I'd pack up. We have more money than ever from the Vaulks Ajay sales but what do we do fill midfield with nobody's to go along with Crooks another failure. Wiles our player only midfielder you can call a midfielder. Will give Lindsay a chance but he needs games. No width. Tell me different & I'll listen.

"Former player Rob Scott has agreed to re-join the Millers to head up the club’s new recruitment structure.
Rob arrives at AESSEAL New York Stadium following a spell as senior recruitment at Premier League side Watford, and will be joined by Chris Trotter who has also arrived after a stint as head of technical recruitment and senior scout at Middlesbrough.
The double appointment is part of the Millers’ recruitment restructure, with both Rob and Chris coming through a rigorous interview process to secure their posts."
There you go....you've been told differently. Are you listening? Watford and Middlesbrough? Who have you worked in recruitment for?
Not bothered who they have worked for they are same as the rest just look online who we can afford. No research if they are good enough. If I couldn't do better than that I'm not who I think I am. Think Macdonald was a mates signing like Potter that nether works. I agree from the original post we should never have let Williams go. Easily best of the wingers last season. Who ever did his contract & didn't put an option in to extend his contract shouldn't be here. But Warney the last few months of last season wouldn't start him. No wonder he left, if I couldn't get in the side for Forde or Taylor I'd have thought this isn't the place for me.

I'm sure that you would have sailed through the "rigorous interview process" when you told them that you go to home games, mean all. With your eloquence, magnetic personality and vast knowledge of the game, you'd have walked it.
TC what I'd do I'd find them looking online. I'd get someone who knows what he's doing regards if the player is good enough. So simple even I could do it. Ronnie Moore didn't have a head of recruitment when he found Alan Lee. Brecks spotted him watched him a number of times before we signed him.
Wouldn't the person that " knows what he's doing regards if the player is good enough" be head of recruitment? Or could the girl in the chippy or the launderette, or even a steelworker do the job cos it's easy.

Therein lies the problem gwru. You really do think that recruiting is easy and that you could do it, and you really do think that you are mostly right most of the time. Its a bit like saying that you know a number when you see one so you could be an accountant, or that you can draw so you could be an artist. What is it that makes you think that you know as much as an expert? I've been watching football for many years and played decent non-league football and have a coaching badge. I have my own opinions but wouldn't dream of asserting that a professional football club should employ me as a manager, coach or scout. I respect the fact that the people actually doing the job have some experience, ability and qualifications. I defer to them as I would do any qualified professional. Why do the rules that apply in every other profession not apply to professional sport? Please think carefully before you answer.
