Dons 1 - 2 Millers

Totally deserved that...other than 10 minutes at start of 2nd half where it was fairly even we were far stronger, made better use of the ball, were more clever in the final 3rd.  Olosunde looks a find...remember Tavernier?

Typical 1st game though, broken play, set pieces key.  Plenty for us to take positives from? Just feel one or 2 need to relax a bit more and just have more composure, GK was one of them! - Wiles made a total difference when he came on, still remain unconvinced about Vassell but he needs more regular game time?

Should have won by a lot more to be fair missed 2 or 3 really really big chances at key game stages.  Wimbledon will struggle...again...they were nowhere near our level.

Can't get a better start than to win away on day one.

Good to see us creating more chances than the home team

An away win at last we love London. Not going have a go at anybody to early in the season. As I have said get a few wins under our belt a bit of confidence and the training facilities to make the team gel. You made the point and someone on Twitter when Ben Wiles came on it was a game changer from what I saw in the friendlies he is our best player. These opening games no matter how fit you are with the weather being hot it takes it's toll. A good home journey for once for the traveling supporters UTM.

Can't comment on the game but Exeter must have seen it. If Vassell is unconvincing need a left wide player. Who else is there can play there? A centre back as Warney says who can cover another position needed then we are sorted. 3 pts are 3 pts no matter even if 2nd H wasn't that good.

Three up front will never work. Need someone wide left who doesn't cut inside. Need a plan B

Unplayable first half scrappy second but job done.

Still think we need a centre back who will command the back four. Barlaser was excellent first but faded second and needs to learn not every pass has to be a 60 yard wonder ball.

Can’t complain though we kept going and got a deserved win.

What I am watching Ajayi playing in his proper Centre back position for WBA. Looks comfortable, an absolute steal what they paid for him.

Gwru the number of times I've seen you say that you go on what you see. But when it suits you're happy to go on what someone else says without knowing whether they even went. Quite a stretch. First half was a glimpse of what we might be capable of this season and we could and should have gone in 2 or 3 up. Second half they got at us for the first 15 minutes but we came back strong again. It would be easy to dismiss this as a tight win over a poor side but this was a very tricky first game. Not everyone will leave there with three points. Olosunde was standout good. We brought three players off the bench who would walk into their starting eleven. I think we will be able to mix it up and rotate players without losing quality. Lots to work on and Lincoln at home will be very tough but it's a great start.

just watched EFL... I think we will get better as the season goes on, with so many new players, any sort of win is good.

Fantastic start, looking fwd to 1st home game...

Watched Quest highlights. Ladapo could have had a hat trick. A fox in the box, selfish how I like it. Smudger is more a presence up front. Get them some supply we are in buisness. Need a left wide player, obvious. Did Wiles mi**** corner for the winning goal? Doesn't matter, Robbo didn't take it bad for a central defender.

Make no mistake yesterday was not a good place to start off your season for either players or fans.
We set off well and should have been one up inside ten minutes when Ladapo found the keeper from close range when it looked easier to score than miss. Smith also had a decent chance as well. They were offering very little and it was no surprise when we went in front. At half time you had a feeling we had let them off lightly.
They came out in the second half and started launching the ball forward, scored from a corner and we were on the back foot for 15-20 minutes but they didn't really create anything. Barlaser faded out of the game and was replaced by Wiles with about 20 minutes left. Barlaser looks comfortable but i feel there are times when he would be better playing the simple ball than the hollywood one. Wiles gave us fresh energy and did very well in all areas. Vassell and Ladapo came off late in the game replaced by Morris and Proctor. This didn't affect our forward play as Smiler has said. Smith who i had doubts about in a front three was a handful all afternoon and did well.
A good three points against a dour side. After letting Hinds and Kayode go out on loan i am a bit worried about the strength of our squad. I would be amazed if we didn't get a couple in this week. I think we have to forget about the getting wide and getting crosses in. Our new style is movement and pace up front, and in Ladapo,Morris and vassell we have that. Olosunde who i had a doubt about was as good as anybody, he is somebody who has pace to get down the right and as the season progresses his delivery from wide will improve.
All in all a good start to the season. When you lose Vaulks, Newell, Forde, Williams and Towell your delivery from set pieces will be affected. We relied on that last year for our main source of getting goals. This season it looks our main source will be power, pace and movement. We did score our goals from set pieces yesterday but it was far from our only source and to be perfectly honest some of the delivery was poor. Give the new lads and the new system a chance. There will be ups and downs but this is a brave move by our management team and we should embrace it.

whiston01 I won't embrace it. Seen enough in the friendly's. Lapado & Smudger apart can't see Vassell or Morris making much impact. If Proctor is fit sooner bring him on. We are ok on the right. Wide left not.

Nice analysis Whiston. I think our deliver from set pieces and crossing generally has been poor since the beginning of last season. Hopefully the introduction of Lindsay and Clarke will help improve this element of our play. I think Barlaser will be a key player for us against the better quality sides - he does tend to go missing in action when things are a bit more agricultural! Looking at the first games on the EFL footie programme, there seems to be some good quality in this League. However, I reckon that with a couple of more additions before the transfer window closes, we'll have the variety, quality and depth in our squad to challenge the best of them.

Onwards and upwards!!

Gwru - PW will be very disappointed to hear that! You seem to have gone from a position of ' you can't tell anything from friendlies' to making season defining statements based on ....,...'friendlies'! ? Forgive me for being confused.

Glen Miller going to 2 games this week. Saturday's game will tell me more. Don't think 3 up front will break Lincoln down.

Lincoln will be a tough test on Saturday. Toffolo and O'Connor both started on Saturday but Frecks was not in the squad. Wonder if he is injured.
Several of our moved on players didn't start on Saturday. No Hinds, Dom Ball, Clarke Harris, Williams, Frecklington, Forde, Taylor and Emanuell. ...... Vaulks ,Rodak and Potter were on the bench and didn't get a kick. Many of those will be injured, but they have a record of that. Yates and Purrigton scored and Palmer,Ajayi, Newel and Towell all started. Will Vyner be in the squad today for Bristol .C.? He ought to be because they have moved a lot on. Time will tell if its good business what we have done. I think it was a case of we had to do it in just about every move.
